1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

anyone have BJD related tattoos?

Feb 12, 2007

    1. Thats actually really awesome considering it's make up ^_^ I'm impressed and it is a pretty cool video.

    2. Did you get permission from this artist first? While it's cool, it's not okay to steal somebody's artwork.

    3. Im not getting a tattoo of a doll, but my doll Kiyoshi and I will eventually have matching cherry blossom branches that i designed. I allready did the one he has on him, I just have to do mine on my wrist. I spend all my money on dolls tho.

    4. I've been considering the idea of a bjd tattoo for a while. I don't mind the needles as they're kind of...zen for me. I can get into a particular headspace while I'm being tattooed that I can't get into any other way. The permanence isn't an issue with me either. For me, it's just skin - my skin - and my tats are timestamps for me. Physical reminders of 'Hey, I was here. This happened. This is how I'm choosing to remember it.' As for the subject matter, I've mostly considered a stylised full-body doll, something not necessarily specific to a doll I own, but how I feel about them as something I've chosen to involve myself in. I've also thought about the S hook - though like my other tats, I'd like to find a way to make it 'me.'

    5. I've been considering doing that for a year now. But I want it to go all the way around my arm.

    6. so the other day I was talking to my friend who is planning to apprentice as a tattoo artist about dollie tattoos... I decided that I'm going to combine my doll tattoo with another one I had thought about and turn it into a half sleeve on my right arm. It'll be a portrait of Acheron and the bottom will fade to snowflakes. just above my elbow it'll say "I tried to give you summer, but I'm winter" (from the song Summer by Alien Ant Farm XP) It works out pretty well because it'll probably be a while before she's really good at portraits and I have a to wait quite a while anyways because of my parents and them paying for college *sigh* plus it gives me time to decide what wig and eyes she'll be wearing in the portrait xP

I really want this friend to do this tattoo because she also has bjd's (Risukachan on here I believe) we got into them together and she knows how much they mean to a person... I just thing it would be really cool to have another dollie lover do my bjd tattoo.. and eliminate the awkwardness of bringing my doll to a tattoo studio XP

sorry to be so long winded.. I just was really exited about this decision and wanted to share >.>

    7. One is practically all the way round the arm the other isn't finished I have an appointment to have this tattoo finished on march 20th. There wasn't enough time in 2 hours and we may have finished early do to the fact I couldn't take anymore.

The one thats nearly completely done is damn awsome though. My girfriend said she liked them not completely joined but if they were't they wouldn't look right.

    8. I have news for you, it is perfectly OK to use an image for a tattoo without permission. Any image.
There are no laws governing the use of images for tattoos. The exception is that if an image is copywrited, you can't photograph it for a commercial enterprise (for instance, if someone has the Warner Bros. Roadrunner as a tattoo it has to be greeked or eradicated for a commercial film or photography project. For an "art" project it is a grey area).

It would be more considerate to know your facts before you flame someone.

    9. There is this little thing called "intellectual property." You can get yourself sued for doing things like that. As an artist, it's offensive that the image was taken without permission. People make MONEY drawing things for tattoos. Just taking whatever you like is unethical.

Learn some manners before flaming ME. Here's a class in art ethics.

    10. Actually you can't (get sued for using an image as a tattoo). Don't believe me? Ask someone else who's been to law school then. The law sometimes diverges from ethics, and ethics are not laws per se. They are a philosophical system of thinking, or a belief system. And thanks, but I don't need to be schooled on art or ethics in this case.
Saying that you believe something to be unethical is completely different from it being against the law.

    11. This turn in the discussion is actually on-topic as it's somewhat about copyright issues, but the rude tones need to desist or posts are going to be deleted. :)

Tattoos are not subject to copyright laws because the tattooed person is not making money off the image. However, parlors and studios cannot display copyrighted images without permission. That's my understanding, at least, as an owner of inked public domain images and text.

    12. Thats right they have to pay yearly or monthly for flash art and it costs alot thats why you can get two of the same designs in different studio's ^_^

    13. Sorry to sound rude, I apologize.

    14. *Thinks* What if I had the

      LUTS logo
      www.eluts.com (then the website under?)

      [then under THAT]

      SOOM logo
      www.dollsoom.com

On my ankle? *giggles* They're my favorite companies, but I could never get a tattoo cause I'm a chicken. X'D

    15. Oh damn, I love this thread.
When I saw this I suddenly realized I already have a tattoo of a character of mine.
Made, she's my sea monster/octopus lady. I already have one octopus tattoo and the next is coming! (I just love them.. xD)

Yuu-Hanabusa~ You should do it! xD Tattoo's don't hurt that much :'3

    16. I plan to eventually get tattoos of a couple of my original characters, who are already hanging about the apartment in doll form. I'm not sure if that counts exactly, since my characters existed in my head before their dolly versions did. o3o;;

It would be interesting to get them done in the appearance of their doll incarnations, ball-joints and all. Though the tattoos I'm planning on will be done in traditional Japanese style and they'll both be wearing kimono that cover any areas where joints are to begin with. xD So that doesn't work... hmm...

Anyway, I think it's a very creative idea, and I am very excited to see some more photos!

    17. Hermmm...
Well I have 17 tattoos. 15 stars from mid arm across my upper back and tribal wings in the middle of my back.
Never thought about a bjd tattoo. Don't think I would ever get one.
I've thought about giving my boys matching ones of mine.
      More power to you!
      :aheartbea

    18. Mm...I'd never get a tatoo BUT hypatheticly speaking if i would get one...I'd get the little Angell-Studio logo somewhere XDD
