1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

anyone have BJD related tattoos?

Feb 12, 2007

    1. I'm sorry, but there is no way I love my doll enough to get a bjd-related tatoo. O_o

I do think it is very interesting though~

    2. Not yet, but I a working on designing one.
It's a nice symbol for my fibromyalgia, which pretty much feels the same as rheumatism, without the bones actually changing.
My joints (and other stuff) hurt and dolls have joints :B I don't know. Makes sense to me!

    3. Geez thanks to this thread I am contemplating a tattoo that is bjd related. lol

There are some great ideas in this thread and a couple of really rad tattoos!

    4. Oh darn, this thread has awakened my desire for more tattoos...I swear the things are addictive. ^_~

It's so fantastic to see the ones that went through with them though! Just love the joints. ^__^

    5. I have a tatto of a clothless, genderless BJD on the right side of my lower back with a red little heart on it's chest~

    6. I'm getting Sei-Tenshi/chibi wings on my back and maybe Koname and Megu's faces, one on each hip bone (not on the bone, inside of it, on my lower tumtum).
I would get ball joints, but it just bugs me that they would not be real and 3d. lol

    7. Haha, while I'm not much of a fan of tattoos on my OWN body.. I really like the idea of someone else having a (properly placed) tattoo. Your idea sounds pretty cool too! > w <

And I guess.. if you're a fan of something.. well. I work in a psychiatric nursing home.. and.. well, I figure tattoos are supposed to be ageless things. I mean, imagine being 90 and having a half-naked bjd girl on your arm.

      Hmmmmmmmmm. :P

    8. I'll bump this up with a tattoo that was made out of my dollfie drawings. I just LOVE it :D

    9. marti ~ that's fantastic! O.O

    10. So you're saying that only crazy people get tattoos, because you personally think it'll look silly when they're old? *pfft* Give me a break! No, sorry, but you have it backwards -- tattoos aren't ageless, they age WITH you. You get a tattoo to mark something on your body forever, to commemorate a thought or feeling or moment. I'm 40 and I have tattoos that will wrinkle along with me, because we're in this together. And if I end up in a nursing home on lithium & straitjackets, no snarky little knownothing candy-striper is going to try to tell me those tattoos were a bad idea. :XD:

Now, DOLLS are ageless things. You're probably thinking of dolls, not of people or their skin.

    11. The stupidest comment (and believe me, I've had stupid) I've had about my tattoos is "Duh what are you going to do when your eighty and wrinkled?" So? Me and my tattoos will be wrinkled. Big whoop. We'll be old. Untattooed people are still wrinkled, just less interesting. And PS if any of my friends are reading this, if I'm eighty and showing that much skin please tell me to put a cardigan on for heaven's sake.
Marti, those tattoos are just sublime, like your artwork.

    12. Hehe, love the concept! I'm too young yet, but I'd have no problem getting something related to dolls. Maybe nothing huge or overly remarkable. I wouldn't have problems with non-doll people, either. Like previously stated, people get tattoos referencing cars and books and lovers and stuff, so we're allowed to get tattoos of out dolls.

I do, however, love the occaisional "sharpie tattoo sleeve" and whenever I do one I always draw ball-joints on my hands.

    13. Amazing tatoos, Marti! Just pure awesome! XD

    14. I just have to say, Marti, those are some beautiful tatt's, they're really well done, congrats! :D

To answer the original question, if I could find an artist willing to work with my medical issues, I absolutely would put a small marker of the hobby on me because it's as much a part of me as my love of music, and that would very definately be included in any tattoo I had.

This is such an ODD comment from someone who WORKS with the elderly! Being old doesn't change who you ARE, it just means you're OLD. That 90 year old with the BJD on his/her arm is still the same person that loved that doll enough to get it inked, what the hell difference does it make if it's wrinkled on their skin? I never bought that "what will it look like when you're old" arguement over any tattoo because surely the whole POINT in marking your body is that it's with you for life? It's why people have names and dates put on themselves, as permanant reminders of things!

    15. just to make it clear- it's not my tatto. I'm just showing photos of them, bacause they're featuring my art :)

    16. *thunk* THAT tattoo is remarkable~!~! Congratulations, marti! Your work was perfect for that tattoo!

I've begun considering commissioning an artist for a piece featuring a certain winged Dollshe.......or Sard...

    17. AMEN!!!
I just got my first tattoo a few weeks ago at the age of 48. I got something that is meaningful to me (my Society for Creative Anachronism device which is something I put a lot of thought into) in a place where I can see it all the time (inside of my wrist). I'm sure it will be just as meaningful to me when I am 90 and even more wrinkled than I am now. I did it to please myself and don't give a rat's behind what anyone else thinks of it.

I hadn't given any thought to a BJD tat but I LOVE the tattooed ball joints! I've seen photos of someone with a Blythe doll pull string tattooed down the back of her neck and would be more likely to do that.

    18. Girlytattoos: i <3 the plate..... have you ever thought about showing it to the volks staff? (i would be unsure how they might react)

Nina: wow.....yeah, i have tattoos and know about how much they do or don't hurt...and i would never be able to do that, but its just sooo awsome

I have thought about getting a bjd tattoo, but ......yeah most of my money ends up being clothes for my dolls and more dolls...for my dolls >_<

    19. I have fibromyalgia and never really thought about the relation to my dolls that way! Thats a really good analogy and something that would be very interesting to see in a tattoo.

Id like to get more BJD related tattoos but they would have to incorperate something else as well, like my ball jointed Hans Bellmer tattoo. It represents BJDs, art, Silent Hill etc.

    20. I got mine today! The epitome of nerdiness and company devotion right here!

For those of you who don't recognize it, it's part of Fairyland's logo. I thought it was too cute >< and just knew this would be my symbol for my love of dolls (considering the majority of my collection is all FL)
