Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. anyone have BJD related tattoos?

Feb 12, 2007

    1. Getting a bjd tattoo sounds cool but im very afraid of needles XP. I once saw someone who had a dollfie headplate tattoo on the back of there neck and I think it said ONEOFFMODEL XD

    2. I love BJDs. I love tattoos. Not going to mix the two though. They interfere with each other too much financially - I've put off my latest tattoo 'plan' for six months, and possibly another few because of doll-cravings - and while I love them, it's not something I'd get tattooed. I have a different vision for my tattoo work, but I love seeing other's BJD-related tattoos :D The SD headplate a few pages back was totally awesome XD

    3. It's on page... 2 or 3 of this topic ^___^ (Yay merged topics! XD)

I'd love to get the DOD Collection Black Ducan's tattoo on my arm, but I'm not really a tattoo person T___T I once made a temporary (yay tattoo paper!) and it was pretty rockin :3

    4. LMAo... I'm loving this thread... not quite the same I know, but my Suomy (Unoa Lusis) has a pair of white wings tattooed at the base of her spine the same as mine.... though my hubby's name is nestled between mine her's is still nameless.... I hmmm wonder who will get the honor?? I'm planing for a full spinal (neck base to tail bone) in the traditional Tahitian style when we head to Bora Bora in January, I'm hoping to get Muana (the tattooist) to incorporate the symbol for doll....

oooh Latte, you really are a rebel!!! YAY :dance:cheer:celebrate

    5. I don't think I'd ever get a tattoo, I am often tempted, but I know twenty years from now I'd probably be hitting my head wondering why I did it.
So all the tattoo's that I'd want, but know I'll never get I put on my girl. Since I can remove those whenever. She has three at the moment.
For me, I'll stick with henna. Since then I can do whatever and not worry about potential future regrets. Not to mention it helps save on sunblock.

    6. lol I don't know about that, I think I'm just kinda old-fashioned when it comes to tattoos :sweat Neck-to-tailbone tattoos are fun to get though, I got weird twitches in my limbs through the whole process

I'm actually surprised there aren't more BJD related tattoos out there. After doing a search on bmezine.com 's tattoo gallery and on their modblog, I only came up with a couple of pictures, this first one with ball joints but hinged elbows, which I don't think is consciously an ABJD, and this person's knees, though these too look like hinge joints and not strung joints. (note, although the second link is worksafe, if you go poking around that site you might get an eyeful of extreme body mods, so poke about at your own discretion!)

There's heaps of kewpie dolls, rag dolls, voodoo dolls, but no ABJDs. A little disappointing T.T but BJD-related tattoos will probably only increase in the future :)

    7. I am in the same boat as you. It's either a tattoo or a BJD. Since I already have 5 tattoos, I am putting tattoos on hold so I can get another BJD and all the stuff that goes with them.

    8. My old plans for a BJD-related tattoo have gone kaputsky over the past few months :( But then, my goal wasn't to actually acquire one for myself until my 21st birthday, so I still have a couple of years to figure out a new design. I like the idea of making the tattoo something really personal rather than a generic "doll" design as my boys are already personal to me anyway.

Actually, all my dolls' characters have tattoos themselves so sometimes I consider getting one or two to match theirs, but theirs are so big I'm not sure if that's a good idea xD

    9. My husband has a doll tattoo, it's not a bjd, but it's still cool
I always thought this picture from Marti would make an excellent arm tattoo, however it was a comission and that wouldn't be right.

    10. I love dolls and stuff but I would never be so hard-core into it as to etch it onto my body for life. I don't think I will be in this hobby as an old lady... but then again, who knows.

    11. I told my friend about the idea of getting BJD joint tattoos and she LOVED the idea and is going to get them done. She wants to have them done by Christmas so I'll post pictures when they're done and such. She plans on doing her ankles, knees, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck and I think she's also going to do her torso but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

    12. Yes, I am planning to get a tattoo of a doll, to symbolize my rheumatism (which is in your joints). I'm getting it on my side probably.
I have been pondering aswell to get joints tattood somewhere but I'm not sure where yet.

    13. I think the BJD joints is a little much, but what can I say? It is a good idea.
As for Grimm's rose and matching tattoos of the like, what a great idea!

    14. Faeriegirl that is such a pretty picture to get a tattoo done of. I am reading the whole thread thinking, NO way then at the end of the thread there is a picture that tempts me! Lol.

I have a celtic band round my arm at the moment with lots of green in it as it is my favourite colour and always get lots of positive comments about it, even now years after getting it, not too sure I would get lots of positive comments about a BJD one in years to come.
I love the hobby but to me it is just that and although close to my heart I dont feel the need to tattoo it on my body.
If you feel the need to have one then it is not for me to say either way .............. carry on!

    15. This is a great idea. I have one tatt already but have always wanted more. I think one to mark your love for the hobby is a great idea! I've seen very realistic tatts people get of their kids/partners/pets (like sepia photos). I wonder if a cute stylised one of my Claude would work? This has really got me thinking! Cool thread!!!

    16. None here... Never will get one. I don't have a problem with tattoos, I just know that I will never get one.

However, I did see a girl in Chicago sometime last year with ball joint tattoos on her arms. She had elbow joints. It wasn't the best tattoo job in the world but it was an interesting effect.

    17. It would be sweet if me and Uriel could get matching tattoos. :)

    18. I just love this thread! Everyone has such neat ideas and I really like the tattoos I have seen thus far. I have one tattoo right now (and it hurt...a lot...very badly...it was right over my spine and the ink just would not take...). I would love to have one of my girls (probably my Nono) have a matching tattoo on her back right where mine is. I think that be so neat. I don't think I ever get a BJD though. However, if my girl gets hers I will post pictures of our matching tats!

    19. I don't think I would get a tattoo related to BJDs, but I think it would be cool to get a tattoo that one of my dolls already had. One of my characters (who will hopefully be a doll eventually) has several tattoos that represent people she loves, and I've sometimes considered a variation on that theme. X3 I would also consider giving a doll of mine (one not based on an existing character, preferably) a tattoo similar to the one I already have. Perhaps not identical, because then it would be too much like I was trying to make a doll copy of myself, but one that's similar to mine would be all right (mine is runes, so perhaps three runes that make more sense on that doll, different from the three runes I chose for mine).

    20. i always wanted a tat of the number "IV" and I want my edmund to have the same matching tat. ^^ but for an actual bjd tat probably no for me. But i want to see more pics of pplz tats! :D
