Are "Fantasy" dolls more attractive to you?

Jun 2, 2009

    1. I looove all the fantasy dolls I've seen! They're all so creative, and I think a lot of them are super pretty. They seem like an interesting challenge, since, like people are saying, you can make them either high fantasy, or more everyday.

I really like seeing what other people do with them, but I don't think I'd ever get one myself. I'll just admire from afar!

    2. Fantasy dolls are misterious and attractive, but I prefer human-like dolls (besides few exceptions).

    3. i'm a sucker for fantasy :) but i love a normal doll as much as my non-human ones :) half of my cast are non human, and a few are human with supernatural powers...but it follow the line of my plot for them later on

    4. I think I like normal dolls the most, because I think they are more versatile. However I do have alot of 'fantasy' dolls, and plans for more! Even though I like normal ones more I still can't stay away from the awesomeness of fantasy ones it seems! Interesting.....

    5. I'm kind of weird about it. I really love fantasy fiction and whatnot... but not so much with the dolls. Well, I wouldn't buy one of the larger fantasy-types, but I think the tinies are adorable. I don't quite know why I do that. All of my characters are human, though, so that's what I'll be getting first.

    6. Definitively yes ¡¡¡¡ I love the fantasy dolls though i don´t have anymore ^^U
I like the human dolls but the others are more originals .
I´m charmed to Soom MD dolls .I think that are the dolls most beautiful than i have seen

    7. Some of them are really beautiful and I enjoy watching them :) But I wouldn't buy one because I need a more natural-looking doll to have more space for my own creations.

    8. It also depends on the nature of the fantasy doll. Vampires and elves don't appeal to me, and neither do fairie/fairy/fae/whatever dolls. But nagas, satyrs, mermaids, harpies, and their ilk do definitely interest me. I guess I'm more likely to buy a doll that's a creature based in ancient myth than I am one based in folklore and more modern fantasy. I'm not at all interested in the "anthro" dolls like those produced by Pipos, Dollzone, CCC, Petdoll, etc - the cute little animals with humanoid bodies. But I am interested in dolls that are almost completely human, and just have one or two animalistic aspects (like hooves, or horns, or a tail, or claws) added onto their otherwise human form. I'm not interested in dolls with non-human faces.

    9. It really depends on what your interests/aesthetics are.

For me, I'm into steampunk, gothic and Victorian dress, so a doll without fangs/elf ears/etc. is more in my taste than others. I have, however seen many fantastic fantasy dolls that are just gorgeous, but - I could never own them.

    10. Hm, I can't remember if I've already posted in here or not.

I am very much attracted to fantasy dolls because I LOVE fantasy and have since I was little. I will not pass a doll I like by if it's 'human' but the fantasy part is a big plus. :D

    11. Lately, yes. I have all of the human dolls I could possibly need, so at the moment, dolls with Hooves and/or grey skin are very appealing to me ;) They're something new and interesting, and I've added a few to my wishlist/am waiting on a soom Bygg.

    12. Fantasy dolls are more attractive to me. I love elf eras and vampire fang very much.

    13. I love fantasy, but at first, I did not like any of the fantasy dolls. Then I saw some SOOM dolls, and I have fallen in love. I might get a vampire at some point too, since some of my characters are vampires, but I haven't seen any that fit right....

    14. I like human dolls but also fantasy dolls. I've only one human doll, but I would like to get an elf sooner or later....like Fantasia from Dim, she's such a cutie!:aheartbea

    15. I'm 50/50 on it.
I love love love SOOM dolls with hooves! Can't get enough of them!
However, I couldn't imagine my Anna (DOD E-an) being anything but human. Hooves on her would be strange. So it really just depends on the doll.

    16. Nope, I'm boring. Give me normal human dolls and I'm happy. No pointy ears, horns, fangs, hooves, or paws for me.

    17. I like the pointed fairy ears but not really any of the other original things. Although most of my dolls are original characters based on fantasy style characters (fairies, vampires, etc.) they appear human.
The dolls with hooves & things are pretty but I wouldn't know what to do with them.

    18. I love reading fantasy stories and of course Sci-Fi, but when it comes to owning a doll in a fantasy series, it would definitely be an elf doll. I don’t like vampires or horn dolls. I do own the elf doll called Kia which I find so adorable but a bit kicky. But my real love is in the polymer clay elf dolls done by artists especially on Ebay. For e.g.

Forest Rogers, goes under the name of forestbeings on ebay very talented artist.

Fita=Fairies in the Attic (she does such magnificent work and so detail right down to the eye brow which in done in very very fine hair)

Nicole West, goes under the name of crimsonjabberwockey on ebay, (gorgeous work)

Miriam and Christel, goes under the name of ooakbymriamundchristel on ebay.
My avatar is one of the polymer clay dolls I own. Miriam and Christel's work are fabulous!:fangirl:

      That's to name a few :)

I also wanted to ask anyone on the board, if anyone has bought any dolls from a site called formydolls and if so how are they?

      Thank you in advance ;)

    19. Some of the fantasy dolls are very pretty, but I prefer the human dolls myself.

    20. I am a sucker for fantasy dolls, and it was the fantasy dolls that attracted me to the hobby.

I'm not so big on the vampires. I prefer elves, dryads, satyrs, centaurs, hooved beasties, and more natural spirits. Vampires have just never been that attractive to me, although I have certainly seen some beautiful vampire dolls!

I doubt that I will own a normal "human" doll. Or if I do, it'll probably end up modded to look like something else entirely. ;)
