Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Are "Fantasy" dolls more attractive to you?

Jun 2, 2009

    1. It's got to have elf ears or I really am not interested. When I first came into the BJD scene, I bought human ones............that completely changed when I found fantasy dolls, elf, faeries, hooves and vampires. The heart wants what the heart wants

    2. no. i like normal looking dolls that i can temporarily modify to fit what i want it to be, but still be able to go back to the basic human when i want to change, like wigs. i'd hate having a doll with permanent hair, what if i got tired of it? same with fantasy stuff. permanent = bad.

    3. I like the look of some of the fantasy dolls but I will probably only buy "normal" dolls.

    4. I wouldn't say more attractive. I think they're definitely more appealing in some ways, but I like my human sculpts just as much as any "Fantasy" mold/sculpt. This being said, all of my dolls, Sans my incomplete Cuprit, are human sculpts. :)

    5. Well, with my characters and stories, not only doll related, i always try and put myself in a reality that's somehow similar to ours but different. For short: sci-fi, genetic manipulation, that kind of stuff, so not related to a completly different world with different rules and such. It's just something i do to escape from daily life, like most people do. I don't really like fantasy dolls, but just because of a matter of taste. I mean, the concept is more or less the same, isn't it?

    6. I don't have one, but I do love alot of the elfs and there are some interesting soom monthly dolls (topaz and euclase are gorgeous!) I'm definitely interested in the fantasy dolls, and would have some if the funds allowed :)

    7. I personally prefer normal looking dolls, which some exceptions: fangs are very cute. As kid and teenager I was very interested in Vampire mythology and I loved Vampire movies/books. I still like the older movies and very old Vampire tales and the historical background of those myths.

I've seen two dolls with wolf features which I also found very beautiful - I love wolves very much. I also wouldn't mind a doll that looks a bit like a fox. I like the new Zuzu Delfs very much and I consider buying such a doll.

    8. While I really dislike elf ears, I do actually have an elf on the way to me. I'm going to see if I can stand him keeping his ears, but I may end up sanding them down to human. Still really dislike the buck-toothed vampires - the Luts and Fairyland ones are nice, but the majority of the others look like they need an orthodontist.

    9. I'm not a fan of elf ears, even though I own a Limhwa half-elf, it' because I liker her face. I'm more fascinated by dolls with horns, they look so cute with them.

    10. Fantasy dolls are actually a turn of for me. I see elf ears, and I want to sand them down. I see hoofs, I want to give them human feet. It's a character preference I think. All the characters I RP tend to be human. It's funny too, because almost all my friends prefer fantasy dolls/creature dolls/general non-human ones.

    11. I really enjoy fantasy dolls, but aside from my two elves the rest of my dolls will most likely be human sculpts.

One of my characters is a vampire, but I don't necessarily want a "vampire doll." I'm not a huge fan of the visible fangs on most sculpts.

    12. Just after saying this I say the Bobobie Jun and I was like... he would be a perfect dragon... And now I want him... so maybe I will recant my previus statement :sweat

    13. All of my dolls have human sculpts. ((Or...will. I only have one of them at the moment.)) Three will be human. Of the other two, one is a fox/fae, the other will be either another fae, or some sort of mythological creature of some type. ...I think I'm half and half o.o

    14. I am a sucker for a boy with elf ears. It's been that way ever since I saw Orlando as Legolas :sigh I am a personal lover of Mythology and while Centaur Chiron does not tickle my fancy, if I see a doll I deem as absolutely stunning ,such as the SOOM Heliot, I will most likely have a melt down and then piece my self back together again.

    15. I really don't care for any fantasy dolls, I just can't relate them! I don't really care for animal bjds either. But I've never really been a fan of sci-fi or fantasy related anything, so I think that has a big part in my taste for dolls also.

    16. Count me in for one that loves fantasy dolls . I have always had a bent for things a bit different.

    17. Although I love horror, fantasy, sci-fi, myth & legends etc, I don't really like dolls following these themes. I just think they look a bit ...cheesy. I'm much more attracted to human sculpts that can be turned into brilliant characters using imagination and a good face up.

    18. Well, i think fantasy dolls have their spicifical look. i can't do too much to make them into my style...
      So i prefer human dolls``

    19. While all my current dolls and planned ones are fantasy based (I've werewolves, angels, demons, necromancers and uh, the living embodiment of a curse here), I wouldn't say I find fantasy styled dolls any more interesting to me then the human ones are :3 So uh, I guess I like them all XD

    20. I'll be honest, fantasy dolls never used to attract me, but then as I saw more fantasy sculpts, I really admire a lot of the elf sculpts and I adore the mermaid additions made with the translucent resin :)
