Are "Fantasy" dolls more attractive to you?

Jun 2, 2009

    1. I love the fantasy style of dolls! The humans are nice, but i find so much more in the fantasy ones. I feel i can be more creative with them too. I don't own a doll yet, but i have some fantasy leg paws on the way ready for the tiny once i get it :) I'm waiting for the soom shaman to appear on the market place, otherwise i may get a winnie dee. I guess part of it is because if i have the choice i'd jump at the chance to have animalistic features, and if i were to have a super power, it would be a shape shifter :)

    2. Yes, fantasy dolls are personally more attractive to me. There is something that is inside of me that wants to make everything Mythical and magical and in a world where we currently are not. It's relaxing to me. I'm able to create anything I want without any kind of bounds.

    3. I fnd them far more attractive.

I found that once I got over the beauty of the normal human dolls, they all got a bit samey. I like when there is a twist to the doll, something that makes it unique. In rare cases, there are shops where the face sculpt is so good that it doesn't look generic but I find that the fantasy stuff if far more inspiring (Sooms monthly for instance)

But then I think what makes a doll most attractive is the personality and creativity that the owner puts into it.

    4. It's weird, but I love fantasy bodies, like the hooves and centaur types, but I don't care for the pointy ears. I would love a doll with horns and hooves, and I'm truly considering picking one up. I adore these dolls, I fantasize about them, but I'm not sure if I could own any of them...is that strange? I also love dolls with wings. If I had a doll where I could just attach wings and horns or hooves whenever I felt like it, I'd be in heaven. Poor, but in heaven. :P

    5. I'm not really to drawn to the vampire fangs..But I love it when they have hooves, claws, horns, etc!
I would love to get one, but a lot of the ones that really draw my attention are sold out! :(

    6. I really like fantasy characters, but it really depends on the sculpt :)

    7. Animethemed: I'm with you on the vampire fang thing. Some of them look really cute on those impish little minis, but I'm a bit burnt out on vamps (plus I've always been a werewolf fan; ooooh if I could get some wolfie ears for a doll!). I don't think I'd ever own a vamp doll that I left a vamp. Maaaaybe I'd get one to turn into a werewolf....

    8. Both dolls I've fallen in love with are fantasy themed. The humans are adorable but... turns out I have a thing for special ears. I was never even interested in getting a doll until a friend showed me the Soom Ai; I absolutely adored it. Finding one has been put on the back burner until getting an Audrey from Little Monica. Those pointed ears just made me bubble with love inside!

In general, though, I find myself attracted to more fantasy themed dolls, primarily because they are slightly different than the norm. Maybe being raised on a steady diet of fantasy novels helped too....

    9. I adore and am attracted to dolls with a more medieval or fairy tale air about them. It just heightens the beauty of the doll's sculpt for me. ^^

    10. I like more fantasy dolls than normal dolls, because It's more ornate. A normal doll is... normal, not really amazing. Yes, the face-up, the clothes, shoes and the wig can be perfect, and This doll would be really beautifull, but Fantasy Dolls need more work to become magic.

I really respect this dolls because they have more work on their back. :)♥

    11. For me, yes. I love fantasy-type dolls, or dolls with supernatural or out-of-the-ordinary features. I find them more interesting, and makes me curious about the story behind them.

When a doll is 100% normal human, I'm less likely to be interested, unless they are dressed in a way that clearly exhibits the kind of character they are [I would love to see a tree-hugger type character, or a computer nerd, or something interesting in that way].

    12. I've got a real soft spot for fantasy theme dolls. Even if from imagination, i think fantasy characters with believable design are more elegant and beautiful than regular human ones. The ones that are purely ornamental with a lot of things going on don't work as well. If there is logic behind the the unique clothing and the face-up it makes it that much more realistic. Though i also love normal dolls this is what I love about fantasy ones.

Personally i would buy a human doll, but I'd love to be flexible depending on mood.

    13. Fantasy dolls do appeal to me, but it more depends on what character I'm trying to create.
I really like centaur and mermaid dolls, but that doesn't mean I'm interested in owning them. (Ok, I am interested in owning a mermaid, but only a little :sweat)

    14. I have four boys, 3 that are 'normal' like and 1 that is fantasy, I really do love the fantasy look, and the normal looks both.

If you even look at my layaway/on the way dolls in my signature then you can pretty much tell I'm diverse, Right now though, I'm into the fantasy, the 4th doll I got was a fantasy so I'm kindof mystified by them, that's why I've got dolls like Breccia, Cyril, Eugene and Epidos on Layaway, they're all fantasy. Even so I still have dolls like Beryl on lay and Ches-A on the way, which are both really normal sort of dolls.

    15. i love seeing fantasy dolls but so far i love mine more being human :)
But that´s because they are little kids

    16. Well, yes and no really.
I'm not a big fan of elf ears or vampire fangs but I am absolutely enchanted by dolls with hooves, claws, horns etc.
Then again there are also some 'normal dolls' I like too! Most of my crew are 'normal' though my most precious is my Soom Sard and my Chrom FL head who is still in the process of getting his body ^^'

The main problem I find with fantasy dolls, especially Soom's MDs is their size. They are so big and heavy >.<.

    17. I like dolls with 'un-human' ears and I do sort of like vampire teeth a little. So I guess I'm not that adventurous.. but I would rather have a doll with pointed or some fun shaped ears than not..

    18. I like both, and I think for me it really depends of the aesthetics and anatomy. For example, as a horse person, I absolutely fell in love with Soom's centaur (though I unfortunately couldn't afford one . . .). On the other hand, I was similarly unimpressed with Souldoll's centaur, just because the anatomy of the horse part was so unrealistic. Chiron's skinny barrel, huge rump, and long, thick legs just didn't appeal to me, where as Epidos's conformation, though not perfect, was more like a true horse, though in both cases the human torso was a bit too big for the horse's body.

Then again, that's just my personal preference; someone else might prefer Chiron's exaggerated body :)

I also think different ears can be adorable, when put together with the right face :D

    19. different ears re a big winner for me. I love pointy ears.. and the cute little deer ears on Soom's Afi were what had me scrounging for one second hand.

    20. Fantasy deffinatly more attractive to me than the normal ones. Expecially the Grey or blue skin. I only have the dark elf from Old world like that. But i have my eyes open for Moonless or Dark perferibbly both from spirit doll. The reason mostly is i like grey skin and as fore the two i mentiond last. Moonless also has vampire fangs. and the bone is cool. Darker fantasy more my style. but i like the lighter as well
