Are "Fantasy" dolls more attractive to you?

Jun 2, 2009

    1. To an extent. I love sculpts with elf ears, but then you get that feeling where you wish their sculpt came with different ears. I don't necessarily find them more attractive, but I love that dolls with fantasy parts usually have cool back stories. I'd rather stick with human dolls, to be honest though.

    2. I love fantasy dolls. If I had my way the house would be full of elves, dragons and succubi, but the unfortunate thing is that so many of the fantasy-style dolls are LE and very difficult to get. u__u; While dolls with fangs or pointed ears are becoming increasingly availible (which is fantastic, don't get me wrong.) it's still a right trick to get hold of the more eccentric sculpts. (Soom and their neverending parade of dolls-you-wish-you-had-but-retired-after-twenty-days. >>)

It's funny actually that out of my collection, while I'd rather have many more fantasy themed dolls than anything else, almost all the dolls I have are - at least sculpt wise- human!

    3. they were until I owned a few.
I think they are beautiful to watch, but not convinient for me to own :/

    4. I like other people's photos of fantasy dolls, but I actually prefer "human" dolls.

    5. I'm a huge fantasy lover and I spend most of my days with anything fantasy related.
But, There is such a wide range of fantasy and I'm not so fond of the stereotypical fantasy. ( in which trolls, elves, demons and angels all look like they do in most other fantasy stories )
So, most BJD's with wings, hooves, claws aso don't appeal to me. because I think they all very much look alike... if the wings would be uniquely shaped for example ( not the classic angel or demon wings ) they could catch my attention.

    6. I like elf ears, but not much else. I don't care for the reeeeeeeeally long elf ears, unless I want a specific fantasy character, but small ones are cute in my opinion. I think that fantasy dolls that look human except for hooves are... strange, to say the least. I personally would never want one, and don't really admire the dolls like that that others have.

    7. I definitely prefer fantasy sculpts. My first doll has elf ears, hooves, and horns, and I'm very pleased with those features. When shopping for my next doll, I often find myself wishing that a beautiful human sculpt came with a fantasy parts option. ^_^

That doesn't mean that I would never buy a human doll. I have quite a few of those on my wishlist, but if I buy one, I'll imagine them as being a human living in a fantasy setting. For example, I've been thinking about getting a Minifee Shushu and having her be a human girl living amongst fantasy characters. She'd be a bit like a hero in a video game.

So in a sense, even my human dolls would still be fantasy. XD

    8. I definately perfer the more human looking dolls. I can appreciate fantasy looking dolls and I think that some of them are really cool looking, and I actually really enjoy the fantasy genre. I am really into very artsy looking dolls. I know most OOAK artist dolls are OT but I really love them. I make dolls myself, so the more unique and artsy looking they are, the more I love them.

    9. About fangs I'm not sure, it's up to what type of dolls, but I prefer elf ears always regardless the head mold

    10. Short elf ears can be hidden by hats or wigs; most of my bjds are elves, a few vampire elves, some LEs that I got lucky and managed to afford -- but I do prefer fantasy in all my dollies, or science fiction!

    11. Fantasy dolls were the thing that pushed me over the edge when it came to my decision of getting into the hobby. I have liked the dolls for a long time, but I didn't make the jump and buy one till I found that I could get a grey skinned pointy eared doll to represent my dark-elf D&D character.

    12. Three of my dolls have a fantasy element to their character, but only one is a non-human sculpt. Quinlan has elf ears. Epifan and incoming Aurus will only have weird eyes (and Epifan is paper-white).

I want to get a gray skinned doll sometime, but fantasy sculpts, I always spend so much time mulling over how I will deal with them. I've wanted a centaur too, but I dunno what to do with them. Also wanted Dollzone's recent dragon tinies.

The dolls with lots of fantasy parts seem to always move themselves into the "Doll I squee about but don't need to own" pile.

    13. Yes!
I think they can be so creative and adorable! ♥
I also love normal looking ones too but fantasy takes precedence xD Specially hooves and antlers
      ♥

    14. Fantasy dolls are pretty neat, but not necessariy something I need or want for my collection. Most of my dolls are pretty much human looking, even the fox sprite one (I simply got him a very long wig that looks like a tail when tied) however there are exceptions. One of my planned yoSDs is actually destined to have two separate sets of wings when I'm done with modding and there's also a merman that I eventually seek to own, but that has nothing to do with my preference in either case, it's just a matter of what suits which character and why. I suppose that's just me being picky, though...

    15. I love fantasy dolls! I definitely prefer them over "normal" looking dolls.
I feel this way because I enjoy the aesthetics of them and their uniqueness. More defined lines are also a plus, ie. elf ears, claws, gargoyle-esque wings, fangs, etc.

    16. Today I'm more attracted to "human" dolls, but fantasy creatures also cause my curiosity )
maybe someday... when I have too much money ))

    17. i love both :3
i think they both have different goodies to them ~ ]
      so ya xD

    18. Yes, they are. I'm not very into in with "normal" dolls, so I prefer more fantasy dolls like SOOM's dolls are ^_^ Of course there is few dolls which I like as normal, but they are usually from Victorian era :D

    19. I like both
but I only have normal bjd now (I have white skin vamp, but they don't have extra ears or wings or teeth)

    20. I quite dislike fantasy dolls and I think it's great that most companies make human versions of their fantasy sculpts. I feel that the big fantasy dolls are so impressive, that I see less customization (like no one wants to change them up) or anything involving them at all because they're so inconvenient to make anything for or lug around for photos (not saying no one does it). I'm also glad most monthly dolls or limited dolls in the past were fantasy ones. XD
