Are "Fantasy" dolls more attractive to you?

Jun 2, 2009

    1. Yes. I just fall in love with fanged dolls. Lil vampires are just too cute! humans seem normal to me and kind of look alike in my eyes.

    2. I do like both normal and fantasy ones, but I haven't found a fantasy character I do really want. I love mermaids but the mermaid doll I've in my mind is not yet invented which I plan on making in the future.

    3. I'm not really particular to one or the other. I love both the humans, the anthros and everything in between. To me, it depends completely on the doll's sculpt. I see plenty of human dolls I wouldn't be caught dead within 1,000 feet of and plenty of fantasy/anthro dolls I wouldn't poke with a stick. On the other hand, I see lots of all kinds of dolls that I think are beautifully sculpted and appealing to me. I see every doll as an individual with their own form of beauty, so I don't have a tendency to love one type more than another.

    4. no. fantasy dolls to me, are less appealing. i just feel like they are too overdone and alot of them look very similar. i prefer normal looking dolls but with a creative story behind them, instead of relying on their fantasy appearance.

    5. I am buying a sculpt with pointed "elf" ears, if you will, but it wasn't a matter of it being a Fantasy themed thing, but more that I really liked the sculpt and the ears were kind of a non-entity. I'm not a big fan of "fantasy" in general.

    6. I don't particularly like the generic "fantasy" dolls, such as elves or centaurs, but I do love the odd dolls or creepy dolls. I absolutely adore DollZone's Renata and most anything Doll Chateau comes out with. I love the DIM vampire dolls, but would never own one for myself. Most of the elf or fairy dolls seem like they don't have as much room for owner creativity, if that makes sense. There are only so many ways you can re-do a fairy character.

    7. For me I like dolls that are fantasy but I dont like over doing it, for example I like elf ears but that is the pretty much all I like. So I wold have to say that I like both fantasy and real life dolls.

    8. All my dolls have elf ears. xD
I love elf ears, I dont think I will buy a boy other than Frank and Bory without them. I love the dolls with hoof feet and strange bodies. As long as their face is not too misformed my favorite dolls are the ones that are the most outrageous!

    9. I love fantasy dolls. My own doll is moving towards becoming one. I am also a fantasy artist, always been drawn to this idea of something magical, mysterious and wise.

    10. I'm a sucker for fantasy but don't have a fantasy doll. I've always wanted a doll with wings, though. I don't think this is a niche market however, since all of the people who collect dolls that I know of (personally, I mean) are also into fantasy.

    11. I don't know. My characters live in a fantasy world but the only extraneous part on any of them is the wolf ears-and-tail on Emie. I have as doll that's a vampire character but in my view the fangs aren't much bigger than normal teeth, so since you can't see any teeth at all on the sculpt it's all good.

However, the doll I'm waiting on is definitely fantasy since she'll have gray skin and wings. ♥ I guess I've got an even blend. Three are human and three aren't. Balance~!

    12. My first two dolls were human because I felt like I would bond with them better, but now my fantasy dolls outnumber the humans! I'm only attracted to elf ears (or other ear shapes), though. I don't particularly like the hooves or fangs, but I didn't like elf ears at first, either. I do prefer normal skin tones, too.

    13. To me it doesn't matter if the sculpt is fantasy or human. It's more the character that's created for that specific doll. I am definitely more attracted to fantasy dolls, with their fantasy back story, the clothes and yeah, ears and horns and wings are definitely a plus, but not a must, when I look to buy a doll.
I find dolls that are dressed like humans much less interesting, mostly because I look at humans dressed like humans everyday, and to me, in a doll, that's limiting. I love these dolls for the possibility of creating something fantastical, something I don't see in the 'real' world.... Uh, so yeah, fantasy ftw! ;)

    14. I prefer 'normal' dolls over fantasy, as I'm not really into fantasy.

    15. I'd love a doll with elf ears, antlers or hooves, but finding a cheap one with a face I like is impossible!

    16. no, not really.
I like some fantasy dolls but they're not something I'd particularly like to own myself.

    17. I've loved fantasy my whole life, but I really do prefer my dolls to be in a modern setting, just to make the collection a bit more cohesive. But who knows, perhaps I may buy a centaur doll someday and they could be the 'norm' for the modern setting they're placed in!

    18. I wouldn't say they are more "attractive" to me. Not they are not attractive to me. Just that I tend to lean more toward the "regular" dolls more. I considered getting Asleep Eidolon Sachiel Merman and also considered if I decided to get a Supia to use the elf ears and make her have two personas. But in the end I just end up sticking to the regular dolls. I like to admire dolls such as the Asleep Eidolon Sachiel Merman and Soom Chalco but never seem to feel a strong enough want to own one. Owner pictures seem to be enough for me as I stick with the dolls I have and plan for. ^^

    19. I love fantasy dolls! Especially elves! If my doll came with elf ears I would be ecstatic! XD

    20. My BJD's characters are almost all "normal" humans, but I do have two characters who are reincarnated souls. So they're somewhat "fantastic" in that way, though they look like any other person.

I once said I'd never get an elf BJD... but I finally got one character who has a personality disorder and thinks he is an elf... and now I have added three "true" elves to my BJD family!

For the most part, though, I prefer regular everyday humans to fantasy characters. Even my elves are very much down to earth characters who are trying to fit into the modern world, which is where all my stories are set.
