Are "Fantasy" dolls more attractive to you?

Jun 2, 2009

    1. I do prefer Fantasy themed dolls, but they don't have to be over the top. I do especially like any dolls with wings!

    2. I'm definitely attracted to the fantasy aspect of this hobby. I've always adored fairies and elves, and I collect figurines of such, so giant, poseable elves I can dress and customize how I see fit? Hell yeah! :)

Needless to say, most of my collection consists of pointy ears and a hooves and wings. I do have a few humans, but they're in the minority, and even they have sort of a fantasy-ish back-story going on. I love that the fantasy has grown in the seven years I've been in this hobby. It used to be only elf ears and vampire fangs. Now there're hooves (two AND four), and horns and wings and tails and all of that. I hope they keep releasing more.

    3. i love looking at fantasy dolls and own a few but they somehow are never more than ancillary characters for me, in spite of my love of fantasy. the fantasy parts often end up being too limiting in terms of dressing/ posing and interactions with other characters. what really draws me is elf ears. given the choice between two identical (or even similar) sculpts one with nicely done elf ears, one without, the one with elf ears will come home every time. i even have plans to eventually "elf" more of the characters i already have when it comes time to redo their faceups.

    4. I really love the look of fantasy dolls! I unfortunately do not own one (since the company I mainly buy from doesn't have a fantasy line), but I love looking at pictures! I really love clear parts, such as wings and clear legs or clear arms. It just looks really cool! I also love centaurs though I don't see myself owning one :sweat. The unicorn horns, tails, and hooves always draw me in though when I look at photos. Humanoid dolls with animal parts are also really awesome :fangirl:

    5. Yes I love to see all the new cool fantasy dolls. Saw these adorable wife's ones that look like baby harpies. Thy are aweeeesomeeee.

    6. I find fantasy doll quite 'fantasy' and nice. But it just not my cup of tea to buy it for my doll collection. So just enjoying people fantasy doll is quite enough for me, although if the doll is too much to seen (blood, drastic appearance) I rather avoid it.
But I like to have somr fantasy optional parts like changeable elf ears so I can see my girl become an elf, but not permanently.

    7. If I like a doll, it's going to be for the face and not the fantasy parts; those can be a perk or a detractor depending on what plans I've got. There are dolls I'd like who have fantasy parts who I wish didn't, and there are some I'll need to mod to add fantasy parts to. In short: I love fantasy, but a doll's attractiveness isn't built around that for me.

    8. I think I could go either way with a preference towards humans. I don't purposely seek out fantasy styled dolls, but I do find them very pretty. I also have a strong bias towards male dolls but I think if I were to get a female, she probably wouldn't be human. I imagine she would be some sort of humanoid anthro, like some of the Soom limiteds with animal feet and ears, but with a human face.

    9. To me fantasy dolls made me fall in love with bjds. I dearly want a whole herd of centaurs. So in a way yes, fantasy body parts do add brownie points when it comes to deciding what I'm going to buy or not. It also makes me feel like I get more for my money, even though I'm not. Orz

    10. I bought some fantasy dolls who have both fantasy and human body parts.
And...I have kept all fantasy parts in the box and haven’t used them since I firstly take the picture of them. haha
Looks like they have the certain limitation when I decorate them.
I love to see the fantasy dolls which is on the shop website or other people own, but I don’t want to buy them anymore.
From the experience, I realized that I am kind of person who own dolls and enjoy their changes come from the difference of wig, eye and dress.

    11. Wings, maybe. But the rest, definitely not. I'm not a fantasy person. I love the idea of a tiny little human and I've actually chosen not to buy a doll for the fact that they have elf ears and I'm not in the want of trying to mod them. I just don't really find it that attractive for my own dolls. But sometimes, I see other people's dolls with the fantasy parts and I love them. Just don't want to have them :)

    12. The answer to this is a resounding: Yes! As much as I love my "normal" human dolls and I very much love seeing people's human dolls, I just LOVE fantasy and fantasy dolls. Especially anything with hooves!

    13. Kitty pretty much said it perfectly! I love fantasy novels and creatures, they just call to me in a way human dolls dont!

    14. I find fantasy dolls intriguing just because of the versatility and potential they offer. For example, I bought my KDF Bory centaur because I loved the idea of how his interesting joints would move and pose, how unique he would look. I bought my Soom Cheshire because the cat parts were really cool looking (and I actually liked the face sculpt for once >__>).

I recently bought a DiM Galahad, a vampire sculpt, because I've just always wanted a vampire, and he's pretty.

I dunno, I think the strangeness of them is part of the allure. They're "different", not just normal folks, and they remind me of the stories I like to read and watch. Even my "normal people" dolls have fantasy backstories.

    15. I really like both, but it depends on the type of fantasy doll.... not too into vampires, but love elves and some of the human/animal hybrids ... like the centaurs. To be attractive to me, the fantasy dolls have to be really pretty and graceful. :)

    16. I'm tottaly in love with elves, so elven ears are almost one of my basic criteria of buying dolls. Would be nice to learn how to do them myself... Overall i do love fantasy novels and RPG so it's quite natural for me to like more fantasy themed dolls like elves, merfolks, centaurs, unicorns, demons etc. Some of these dolls got potential to look like characters from RPG sesions i'm playing, so it's even more reason then to buy it:)

    17. Yes I love anything with pointed ears and also movie sic fi and fantasy characters!!! :)

    18. I think they are more interesting then a regular doll but I know I'd wanna switch between normal and fantasy often.

    19. I love dolls with fantasy parts. I only have two bjds so far, but both have elf ears. And I'm planning a RealPuki Soso and a Sugarble Naga for my collection. Of course, it helps that my characters are from a dystopian future in which scientists have been combining ythe genes of humans with various animals and supernatural species...

Really, I think it all comes down to an early crush on David Bowie n Labyrinth! :)

    20. I adore the fantasy dolls I've seen! I'm not keen on getting a "full" human doll, really. It's just my personal choice, though! I'm not really biased one way or another, but I want dolls that look otherworldly and non-human because how else am I going to get such an amazing little creature. c:
