Are "Fantasy" dolls more attractive to you?

Jun 2, 2009

    1. I love seeing the fantasy based dolls, but my heart still goes out to the realistic looking dolls, and for me the more realistic the better ^_^

      Sabriell

    2. They're pretty to look at but they're not my thing. I would much rather have human looking dolls for various reasons, though they don't have to be super realistic for me.

    3. Half and half, I think! Fantasy doll have a particular glamour and I'm in love whit elf ears, even if I haven't elf doll!
But I love realistic dolls, too.

    4. Nnngh, not really.
I prefer human looking BJD's to elves or wolves or whatever. I love the little fangs on the vampires though, they are adorable! ^^

    5. Personally, I really like the fantasy dolls! *_*

I'm not a -huge- fan of the vampires, but I do love the elf, fawn, and centaur-type models!

I really like humans, but there's something really cool about a dolly with cloven hooves! <3

    6. I love them all too, as evidenced by my growing brood of dolls! Three elves, soon to have an angell studio vampire, volks Chii and about 20 of the more realistic looking ones...a friend of mine says that they have taken over the house and i just pay the mortgage for them ;)

    7. Fantasy dolls really aren't for me. I dislike vampire teeth and all kind of elf ears and I don't want any of my dollies to have wings or horns or anything like that. However I think animal dolls are adorable but not all of them. For example Pipos makes my favorite animal dolls, I want Bao so badly and they're going to sell him MAYBE in December, I don't want to wait for so long time! :...(

    8. That's what drew me to BJDs. I've found some lovely human dolls over time too and have a few among my little group. But most of mine are elves. If I wanted just human dolls I'd have an awful lot to choose from in every size and substance imaginable. And I do have some human BJDs on my list of "Have to Get"s: Akando, one of the Peakswood girls, one or two others. But my heart still skips a beat every time I see a beautiful new elf released!

    9. I love fantasy dolls, especially when done right ;);)

    10. I agree. I like the look of fantasy dolls, i love t look of Aria the mermaid one. But, i woulndt buy or make one. I always prefered t realistic ones. I think is possibly cos of what my particular doll means and represent from me.:D

    11. I like fantasy dolls because all my life I have loved elves, unicorns, pegasus. I like fantasy novels very much. But I dont like all type of fantasy dolls, vampire types are not of my liking. I love dressing my dolls with fantasy outfits.

    12. I'm more into human dolls than fantasy dolls. :sweat I just don't have any characters that would work for it, plus I'm not one for fantasy too much, I love magic stuff, but not quite into fantasy.

For my fantasy-like stuff, I am more attracted to the human looking dolls with some sort of power. :XD: Like a 'normal human' doll who can read minds rather than a demon doll with elf ears who can call fire from his fingertips.

I know there are so many things they could be, but with the dolls themselves I just like regular old human-y ones. :) Adore those little C-shaped ears. :aheartbea

    13. I really prefer human characters more when it comes to the dolls I own. But I love looking at other people fantasy dolls.

    14. I like looking at them, like others have already said, but I prefer human dolls. Now, my tinies (Pukis and Bobobies) are all fantasy-like, with their elf ears and horns, but otherwise, I like my dolls to look human.

    15. To look at, they are fantastic! not denying that :) to own one, no. I prefer the detail of the human body, face, etc. To be able to mold your doll as close to humanity as possible is a challenge sometimes :P

    16. I like both real and fantasy. =/ More specifically, I like imbuing my realistic folks with the fantastic.

That said, elf ear non-limiteds are awesome, like what AoD has. Such things allow for more versatility. And the creation of fantasy dolls gives more options, as parts will inevitably become available on the market. I really like having them both, as I'm getting some dolls with a more realistic concept in mind, and some with a more fantastic concept in mind.

    17. i like human looking ones more but ive seen many fantasy characters that just amazing

    18. I love fantasy dolls , i love mermaids and fairies , but i love more dolls like humans and with uiforms

    19. I'm exactly the same way. At my age, I've dealt with enough reality, thank you very much.:doh I love imbuing my dolls with the fantastic and the imaginative. I deliberately seek out sculpts (often human) that I believe I can turn into my imaginary creations through face-ups, costuming, settings and back stories. I didn't really set out to do this...it just sort of happened by accident until I recognized the trend. Suddenly I looked around and realized that my very eclectic crew included a robot, a cartoon character, a young victorian girl's spirit, the ghost of a family's long-departed pet bunny, and a little unicorn!:o It's like I've somehow created my own urban fairytale.

    20. I think I'm sorta the reverse of this. There are very few super-stylized anime proportioned dolls I like, but I love the fantasy creatures with slightly more realistic proportions. My 'real looking people' (read: realistic, detailed sculpts) tend to blend just fine with the ones I've chosen with hooves, or elf ears, because of the general level of detail and realism with which the subject is approached.

The one girl I have that has decidedly more 'anime' proportions to her head sticks out like a sore thumb amidst the others (something I think I need to address with a different wig soon to help balance that out) while the ones with hooves, or pointy ears, blend much better visually at a glance. Their variances from the normal human form don't stand out to me as much as that one differently-proportioned head does. She's still intensely loved, but she's definitely the odd girl out on the shelves. The way she almost sorta-kinda blends is... she's elf-eared, and tucked in with the other elf girls. ;)
