1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Are you tired of new companies every week?

Feb 21, 2009

    1. I think it's always good to have variety. If a company does a poor job sculpting or just offers dolls that look the same as everywhere else, then eventually they'll die out as fewer people buy from them. Occasionally one company will have something new and different that catches on, and even if it's only one out of fifty that's still pretty good.

I would also like to have more clothing/accessory options. I think on of the reasons it's hard to make a sculpt too out of the ordinary is because you pretty much also have to offer clothes. It's hard to find stuff for my JID, and Iple doesn't really have a large selection either so it'd be nice if there were more options in that sense :/

    2. I just wish that if more companies started making more dolls, the price of the dolls would go down. But that's not the case, ;_;. But more companies do mean more variety and everyone's preference is definitely different from another. So I don't mind having more companies as long as they are not 100% alike, which most of the time it shouldn't.

    3. NOPE! More companies = more selection XD

    4. I don't mind more selection and I'm glad that I'm seeing more of the 'fantasy' related things but at the same time I think that some face molds are too similar to my tastes. A few companies I know have been going for more mature looks of the like and I love that. As long as there's the kind of variety like the Soom Monthlies give then I'm not really going to complain. It'll just be hard to pinpoint exactly what I want as a first doll though. Choices, choices, choices. XD.

    5. I honestly pay no attention to the News section. :sweat

If I see a doll I don't recognize in the MP, however, I will look it up. I'm not one of those people who are always buying new dolls (that's not a bad thing, though), so I don't really find it necessary to keep track of all the new companies popping up.

I have my mind set on a select few dolls, and I kinda hope it stays that way, lol. XD

So no, I don't mind all the new dolls coming out, but I also agree with previous posters that these new companies should be a little more creative with their company names. :)

    6. I do get tired and yet at the same time it's fine w/ me. A lot of new companies have been popping out and a lot of concept are being quite redundant to me. I wish there is more WOW into it. No one needs the same shirt w/ all of the colours of the rainbow. {sorry for being mean >.<} Though as a lot have mentioned, the more selection there is the better. People have their own way of expressing the same theme so yeah, that's a big plus. For example, I like the a company's version alice better than the rest while others would think otherwise.

    7. I reduced my online time within the past few years, so it's only this year (after my exam and many months of hardcore studying) that I really began to waste endless time online.. and it was only then I knew there were so many more companies established within these few years!! It's crazy and I get confused because there are just so many of them.. but it is good in a way, there are many choice and there would be a mold that will suit everyone :)

    8. I noticed there is no BJD Furniture companies

    9. I really am tired of all the new companies cropping up each week. If they were all innovative and beautifully sculpted and engineered that would be one thing, but so many are shoddy, poorly sculpted, clunky dolls from people trying to milk the cash cow that is BJDs.

Also, why can't there be new clothing companies coming out every week huh?

    10. Part of me loves the number of companies out there... The endless options.
But then a pretty big part of me would like to see less different molds, but of a higher quality.

As a whole I guess I'll have to say I don't mind the number of companies, and the variety is quite nice, but the downside of that is there's a lot of garbage floating around.
Ultimately, it would be ideal if companies stopped focusing on making new molds, and put more effort into making varieties of the existing molds and clothes and accessories and whatnot.

    11. I dont have a problem with more companies, but I do have a problem that they each have their own line of clothes and or wigs and its impossible to tell what fits who if you choose to cross outfit your dolls.

    12. This is the reason I do not have any bjds. There is so much selection out there that everytime I think I have found the one I want, I see another one and I can't make up my mind. It makes me frustrated and therefore I end up with nothing...It is like the toothpaste aisle, you just have to grab one and go. :)

    13. I don't mind the new companies that pop up but I barely check the news anymore either. There's too much temptation there and I know myself better now enough to limit my purchases to things that I really want. But I do love seeing ingenuity and design in this hobby so there are some places I like to check every now and then just to be inspired, yes. ;)

    14. I own a Kizdoll, and I adore my boy! His face is different. The new companies just need time and money to expand and create their own style. If it weren't for "newer" companies, I wouldn't own a doll because I've never seen a Volks or Luts doll that has made me want to make a purchase.

Most dolls look similar anyway, it's all about faceup and sanding.

    15. Nope, never get tired of them. More options for us. :):love:D I love seeing art doll companies . :aheartbea

    16. I like having the freedom to choose from many rather than few.

    17. I love the new ones! I have been following the hobby for a while (couldn't afford it in the beginning) and I like all the extra choices! The colours, stylized curves, realistic sculpting! I love the variety and there wasn't anything quite as tempting in the beginning to me as there is now. I do agree that sizing can be an issue though.

    18. Why would I get tired of that? The more, the merrier.

    19. I think that more companies is a good thing. They give more variety to shopping and I would imagine it gives the doll companies competition and the drive to create new and better BJDs.

    20. I think it is interesting that there are new ones, but I am boring/hooked on just one now and so for purchases, at the moment will stick with my current fave, Iplehouse.
