1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Are your dolls a comfort item?

Jul 13, 2019

    1. While I do see my dolls as comfort items and tend to keep them close to me while I'm at home, I don't think that a doll could ever replace real human interaction and the benefits you can get from talking to a friend, colleague or family member.
That having said, I really enjoy having my favorite doll Tsumugi stand next to me on my desk, her presence is calming and her smile motivates me to work harder:3nodding:

    2. I get different levels and types of comfort from different things. The dolls would comfort me in a small way that my plushies don't just in how I interact with them.

    3. I have always been comforted by holding something, and the weight and feel of resin is very soothing to me.

    4. While I'm more likely to grab a plush when I need to cuddle something (if my cat is not available for snuggles, that is), I definitely get comfort out of my dolls. Sometimes when I'm in my room, if I've got a doll sitting out on the doll sofa, I'll talk to them a little while I'm getting ready or tidying up-- never much of a conversation (they're not very talkative), but a little 'hello, cutie', maybe a 'love you' as I head out in the morning or a 'goodnight' as I flop into bed... The more stressed and lonely I'm feeling, the more likely I am to have these little interactions when I'm not really doing things with them.

    5. When I talk about them with others I mostly say that they're art pieces, it helps them understand the cost of them and everything that goes into them. But to me, they're mostly comfort items. I always feel better after playing with them be it dressing, photography, or just simply changing their posing while they sit on my shelf. It's the ones that end up not bringing me comfort anymore that end up on the chopping block to be sold.
