Aria Doll (formerly Everpurple) Discussion

Apr 2, 2010

    1. They should. I haven't bought any nine style clothes for mine, but the SD13 clothes I bought off etsy fit her fairly well (granted they're jeggings and a loose top)

Congratulations!! :D Mine was a grail of mine as well! And I'm happy that I managed to snag a B-bust torso off the MP so now mine's absolutely everything I wanted!! I'm just waiting on the Rossetta Doll Agave head to be re-released next year, so she'll have a head. >.>

    2. Oh man, this thread is so dead, so I'm going to reply like I should have ages ago! :sweat
That's awesome twylight! It will be cool to see the hybrid!
I'm still amazed that I finally got Narvy after all this time, she's been hanging out with me next to my craft desk at home the past several months but I haven't managed to do any face-ups I like on her yet and it's really frustrating. :(Hopefully soon I'll finally get a good face on her and I can post her in this sad forsaken thread!

    3. Well, I am back again! I finally got my AriaDoll Narvy looking somewhat put-together! This poor thread is so dead. . . I don't know if anyone will come back to visit it but to share my excitement, here is my 5th try on Narvy's face-up (because for some reason I just couldn't figure out how to highlight her better features all those other times) -- finally happy with my dream girl.

    4. She's really cute! I like how you did her dark eyes and eyebrows but kept her lips so light and fresh <3

I'm checking in now and then my my body is hyrbided with a Souldoll Hye head so I don't post that often :)

    5. She's very pretty, her face up is very unique!

    6. She looks great AlisonVonderland! I'm looking for an Ariadoll body for one of my girls, I'm not sure if I'll find one though! I was looking at Switch's Hummingdolly body but I really don't like the changes they made, particularly the broad shoulders): Anyone know of any other dolls comparable to Aria? Or a way to find an Aria girl hehe c:

    7. I believe Sadol has a similar body type like the Ariadoll body.

    8. Actually, I think it's the same sculptor!
I recently bought the Sadol hands for my Ariadoll girl, they shipped the next day and I'm just waiting for them to arrive, if they do I'll post here how they fit ^^

    9. Mmm that makes sense as to why I like their bodies.

    10. Oh, thanks for the compliments everyone! :sweatYeah. . . I had a hard time with Narvy actually. It was frustrating since truly I find her very beautiful, but then when it came time to paint her I was never happy with how it came out. I decided the lips absolutely had to be kept bare-skin looking with almost no detail (which is hard for me since I am very lip obsessed) in order for her to come out right.

Are the shoulders really more broad on the Humming body?! I never noticed. . . I heard that they had almost certainly changed the neck to be more pleasing with the Switch sculpts. . . Aria Doll heads seem (from looking at my Narvy) like they were pretty huge for the height of the doll (in my personal tastes) -- Narvy being under 60cm tall with a 9-10 inch head. But I have never handled a Switch head in real life, so I don't know if maybe it's an optical illusion with the Switch display of the body or if they actually did make the shoulders more broad.

The Sadol scuptor may be the same as the Aria sculptor was?! Well hot potato! That's awesome actually. :fangirl: I've had some friends say they were interested in getting a Sadol body in lieu of trying to find a Volks SD16 body for their girl, and I feel that Sadol, Volks SDGr / SD16, AriaDoll, and Switch female bodies all have a relatively similar kind of proportion and aesthetic. . . relatively (you know, when looking at the entire sea of doll bodies on the market).

    11. Hey I have questions about eyes, when buying eyes for Aria what size should I get? Also should I get low dome or high dome?

    12. Narvy looks great. Love what you did. She's so unique and has so much character in her faceup!!

    13. Sunnysailor: my Narvy wears an 18mm and sometimes a 16mm. The eyes she has in now are Eyeco soft glass (soft silicone) that are 18mm -- so they are very low dome and flexible. I tried many eyes in my girl, she does not do so well with extra high dome eyes, but standard high domes would probably be okay. I thought that SoulDoll's 16mm acrylics looked good and fit well in her also -- they have a medium/low dome and seem to run standard size or perhaps a bit large -- they were definitely the smallest eye she could wear without gapping.

      Thanks Eacretp! :DI appreciate it

    14. The hands are in hand (sorry... can't help myself with bad word-puns) and they are awesome! They have longer fingers but the sculpting is almost the same, a little more detail in the insides of the handpalm. The wrist balls are not compatible but I like the ones of sadol better becaus they are completely round so it gives the hands a bit better range of motion. The color does not really match that well but my ariadoll body was one of the first mismatched batches ( ws body, ns hands which I realised waaay to late) and is pretty yellowed by now. But I think it probably will fit a ns ariadoll body well colorwise. I'll post some pics, or a link to a shoot as soon as I gave her a manicure.

    15. Haha bad puns. . . :sweatThat's cool! Aria girls have such beautiful hands in my opinion (a little lacking on the inside sure) I love lovely hands so I can't wait to see if you share the comparison pictures.

    16. I know there is a 1 photo per post limit but I'm posting these 3 anyway otherwise I would have to reply 3 times in a row and that doesn't make any sense to me :s

Left Ariadoll hand (Modded seperate fingers which I then badly glued when they broke) Right Sadol hand
      [IMG]

Same as above, left Ariadoll, right Sadol
      [IMG]

Sadol fisthand and wristballs, the hole for the elastic is quite thin so I need to apply some force to get it through, further it's a really good fit :D

    17. More hand info, today a dolly-friend came over with her Qlab SD girl, and she had THE EXACT SAME HANDS! I was very suprised! And the engeneering of the Qlab girls is almost the same as the Ariadoll to, only even a little bit more streamlined. So now I'm determined to find out who this sculpter is and all that he/she has done XD

    18. Hey! I'm the dolly friend and yes, the hands were the same. I'd just like to clarify that my doll is an SQ Lab girl, an SQ Lab DG59 body to be exact. The SQ Lab hands are available for both their DG59 and their DG61 bodies. Perhaps we should just ask them who made the hands... :)

    19. I like the idea that somewhere out there is "the hand guy" and all the beautiful hands are the masterwork of one person. :lol:It's really neat that those dolls share the same hands! I was admiring the SQ lab hands when admiring the new bodies they released (that you speak of) and pining over the fact that I can't get one right now.

    20. It's not just the hands, the way they sculpted the elbows and knee joints are almost identical, and I've just looked at the april story body and I really think all three are from the same sculptor. The detailing also looks a lot alike, only a lot more subtle on the Ariadoll body whereas on the april story and the SQlab body the details are more prone, like the way the collarbones and knees are sculpted. I was thinking it might be an artist that lets himself be hired by company's instead of just being the company itself, would totally explain the more exxagerated silhouette of the SQlab body's, as those are meant to be used for more anime styled heads.
