1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ball-Jointed Doll Abbreviations, Terms, and Meanings Guide

Sep 3, 2005

    1. MSD-sized refers to the size of Volks Mini Super Dollfies, which are quite a bit chubbier than many other 1/4 dolls and have childlike rather than mature bodies. Most clothes that are MSD-sized will not fit Unoa or Minifees.

      SD-sized (or SD10) refers to the size of Volks Super Dollfies, which are 1/3 dolls, around 58cm.

    2. Hum..... there is WS : White skin missing =O

      And I would like to know, if it is possible, what is the diference between WS and BW ?

    3. Sorry if this has been asked already...what is a "star doll"? ;A;

    4. Star is also the name Dolkot calls their 60cm line of dolls.

    5. WS just stands for white skin, where as BW, technically, stands for beauty white, which is a Volks phrase for their white skin.

    6. I've seen it listed in a few threads, but I'm not sure what Y!J means. I was thinking maybe.. Yahoo! Japan? But I don't know.

      Thanks for answering!

    7. Yes, Y!J means Yahoo Japan. :]

    8. Would be to good to add "SWD" to the list! Not quite sure how it translates into words.. ^^;

    9. "Sweet Dreams," I believe--it's the way Volks describes dreaming/closed-eye heads. :)

    10. What is an SSDF???? I know it's a type of doll, and that it poses well, but what is it?!

    11. SSDF is a Luts Super Senior Delf. :)

    12. What's a faceplate? :...(

    13. Some dolls do not have complete heads to be changed. The back of the head stays the same, but the front is a face plate that can show different expressions or features. :) Examples of dolls with faceplates are Narindoll Narae, Unoa, and several Fairyland dolls.

    14. How about 'IOS'? I just found out that it stands for Immortality of Soul XD

    15. I saw someone use SM for a doll company name. Could that be Soom by chance?

    16. I've seen a lot of people using the abbreviation SD for SoulDoll

    17. I was wondering. On some sites I recently saw the term USD for tiny dolls (And no, there were no American dollars meant here ;)
      Is this a new kind of tiny doll? Or perhaps it's a typo? (I saw it here for example)
      I didn't find it in this abbreviation list (which is btw a very handy list to have) ^^

    18. Nope, not a typo at all. USD is the Korean way of writing Yo-SD. :)

    19. What kinds of things are people usually referring to when they say "OOAK"? Because it's like "this is a OOAK Soom!" but if it's a Soom, it doesn't seem like it could really be called OOAK, because there are many of it. And it doesn't seem like it would mean the faceup or blush because most dolls have unique faceups, right? What qualities does something have to have to be called OOAK?
