I think he isn't listed at the other sites because nobody of the BeYours people can speak english! so only on Taobao because it's a chinese site...

 

Totally makes sense for other websites…but curious because he is not listed on the the BeYours website. Isn't Beyours a Chinese company?

Because I always buy direct from the company, I have never seen a company doll sold on another site that the company doesn't have listed if that makes sense. I'm curious about this fact in the case that he is exclusive to that one agent on Taobao or limited. As far as I know only one agent has this doll. I have also never bought a doll from a distributor or agent - So I want to know if I have to rush to buy him and in that case find out how to buy him.

I emailed the shop owner…so we'll see if I get a response.

The problem is, both sculptors of BeYours quit their work there. And only one of them could speak english -she was the person who managed the Shops. But now she has her own business, that's why the Etsy Shop is closed and also it seems nobody can update the website. I think that's why they sell on taobao only now and through middlemen (who can talk to them in chinese).

 

Ahh haa…Thank you so much for clearing that up! Makes sense. I did email the Taobao shop about Olive and got a quick reply. It was bare bones…just the price of him in USD and shipping cost. But I imagine if I just email that email and send money via Paypal I can order him. Thank you again for your help!

Do you think going through a Taobao agent would work with buying a doll? I've bought lots of doll clothes and such on Taobao but never a full doll. It might be easier since the agents speak English. I hope you can bring the new boy home soon! o:

 

Well I feel like a dork…I'm usually so good about doing my research - but the Taobao shop that I was interacting with is the same one that's listed at the beginning of this thread. I don't know why I didn't just read up from 2 years ago - I just figured current info is best - things change so fast.

Anyway - I think Yukeina speaks a lot better English than the simple responses shs given. I think probably because I was being very very simple too in my email to her.

I'm going to mull it over a bit more…I think I'm going to get this guy. I guess if they only make 100 and then no more…I should make up my mind soon.

autreuno…I've never worked with an agent before…but I'm going to see if I can just order direct via email & paypal. Seems possible.

You're Welcome! IKR I was really worried since he is even more limited then the other molds but so far so good. SW is very good with letting me know when they received my payments and so on.

I probably shouldn't but, I just assume that if there are any problems she'll let me know. [emoji4]

I'm really hoping to bring him home early. I make my 4th payment this Friday, yay!

Oh and does anyone know if Maskcat offers just a face up service? I liked Glisten's faceup on the website and was disappointed I couldn't order it....

 

I came across Olive when someone posted a thread in Company News with him and a 1/6 doll and while I'll admit to being drawn to him I'm kinda reluctant since I tend to have issues as far as bonding with male sculpt goes. Chestnut however... I really really love that sculpt. That I can do a layaway through SWdoll doesn't help either...

 

Yes, and I think BY will do body swaps.

So has anyone actually received a doll via swdoll lately? Im looking to try to get Tree and Chestnut, but I get scared of companies that have poor communication

 

I hopefully will soon, I have a layaway but I just sold a doll that is almost exactly my balance. Once the buyer receives her and everything's ok, I'll pay her off!

SWdoll replied soon after I put in my order and deposit, so I'm happy with their communication so far. They have ordered my doll even though I only paid $50, so that's neat!

 

Only for their old sculpts. The 65cm guys are not compatible with their 60cm bodies. I mean I guess you can mod your 65cm guy heads but the company doesn't.

 

They don't do like you can get a male head with a female body? I might be mixing that up with another company...

I like SW and if I can get more dolls and items from them I will. Very pleased with them!
