1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Big, big dollies. Would you buy a 1/2 (one-half) scale doll?

  2. No

    1. The scales are based on division/fractions. For instance, 1/2 of 6 is 3, so a 1/2 scale doll is 3 feet. 1/3 of 6 is 2, etc. The number on the right tells you how many units "6" is divided into, and the number on the left tells you how many units you have out of the total units.

    2. the bigger the better!! (but...still a tiny bit creepy) i think i'm more frightened of tiny things then bigger ones though xD personally i would LOVE to have beautiful life sized boys sitting around my room +__+ if i start to get freaked i'll just shove some chobits ears on them and pretend they're harmless robots :'''''''''''D

    3. Nope. I love my MSD sized boys right now as they really have the classic 'doll' feel to me. Not to say I won't want one or possibly two SD sized boys in the future, but I think that's as large as I ever would go. Anything bigger would just be too awkward to have around, possibly too creepy for me, and overall, personally, a pain in the rear to take care of >.< Not to mention he wouldn't look porportional or fit in with my plans xD

      Of course, I think it'd be mighty interesting to just see a BJD in that size someday x3

    4. Honestly that would be just a little too creepy for me. :sweat
      I can't really pinpoint why.

    5. you know, im thinking the same ^^; i dont know why...just too big

    6. I think it would lose a lot of the cuteness factor, I like the way doll stuff is so tiny. If they were so big they'd look more like a child or a manequin (or a particular kind of dolls used for strange purposes that I won't mention). So I wouldn't get one.

    7. I would like one ^^ A male... sitting in and freaking people out :D

    8. My grandmother has several half-scale dolls (but not bjd, mostly old 40's and 50's window display types). They don't bother me, but they are extremely awkward to move around or dress. She keeps them sitting around her house dressed for the different holidays, and alot of people do mistake them for children at first glance, especially her favorite Shirley Temple that wears my old dresses.

    9. For some reason I think it would be hard for them to get that large and still retain the "BJD aesthetic" that is so important to BJDs looking like .. well, BJDs. o_o

    10. yes that will be perfect!!!! :lol:

    11. uhm..

      no. with out a doubt. Firstly, a half sized bjd would cost the same as a small house, reguardless of the fact that the creepy factor would be inhanced ten fold. and secondly, what's the point of a half sized doll. really.

      there's only a couple of uses for those and there's already dolls for that.

    12. I don't think i'd go any higher than Soom Sabik personally. 80cm is pretty big and quite intimidating. 70cm at most for me.

      Though, 1/2 would be fun, could wheel em around on rollerskates to save carrying them~ :sweat

    13. I think clothes would be easier to find, though..
      But yeah...probably creepy.. o.O;

    14. As for me, I don't think I could own one which tall is 90cm, but 80 is fine (and 80cm is 1/2 for me, even bigger XD; )
      But, who knows ? If the mold is nice, why not (I don't even want to think about the price and the shipping fees :roll: )

      Actually, I would enjoy seeing a BJD of this height !

    15. I had a doll that size once. She was a Talking Jill doll..I think she was made by Hasbro ? Her eyes, mouth, head, arms & legs moved. She had cassettes's that were placed in her back that were programmed for different functions. She was VERY heavy and YES! VERY CREEPY! Think feamale Chucky but bigger.
      Would be great to see a sample of a 90cm BJD though.

    16. i would love to have a doll that big, i would never lug it arund with me bit i would love to have one.^^

    17. Yes Yes Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    18. I love the big dolls (I would never buy one smaller than 60cm) but a 1/2 scale would be way too big. I wouldn't have anywhere to put it!

      There's already the Paper Moon dolls, and I think those are creepy. >_>;;

    19. I probably would. I love the huge dolls. I'd probably have too much fun with it, Cause I could probably freak people out with it which'd just tempt me all the more : )

    20. I would like a doll that big. I do not plan on having any dolls shorter than
      60cm. Some of the smaller ones are really cute but I like the tall dolls(Dollshes,Sabik!).
      A 90cm doll would be great!
