1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Big, big dollies. Would you buy a 1/2 (one-half) scale doll?

    1. That's way too big for me, I would probably draw the line at 70cm (I'm warming up to the idea of actually buying my first SD sized doll, though even then I still find them almost too big). Plus the cost would be insane, not only for the dolls but to also buy it eyes, wigs, clothes and shoes.

    2. I can see the advantages of having a doll that big for photography and such, but if I wanted to go that route I would look for one of those 1:1 scale bjd like the discontinued Dollche model or just use a person! 1/2 scale or bigger, I'd get kind of creeped out having a doll that large >x< I like the normal sizes for dolls, I can take them with me and move them around freely.

    3. 1/2 would be pretty cool to own. It would be much easier (and cheaper) to tailor children's clothes to them. Faceups might be a little easier as well since the details won't have to be so tiny. The weight might be an issue - but people carry their dolls around in baskets and strollers already so it's nothing that couldn't be overcome.

    4. Definitely! Lol. Mine is on layaway. One reason I wanted dolls in the first place was for sewing, but I'm finding I can't stand sewing small doll clothing. My favorite size for sewing was making my son's cosplay outfits, so 1/2 size looks perfect for me. I have also been thinking on my collection size and what sizes work. Now 1/1 size... no. That goes into mannequin territory and I want to stick with dolls.

    5. I would not buy a doll that big. Even though buying clothes for said doll would be easier, I simply don't have the room to store it. And, to be honest, I don't have much of an interest in them. They're nice to look at online and on various owner's pictures, though.

    6. Not sure it would be my cup of tea, I only really look to buy MSD and smaller. I don't think I would have room for even an SD doll.

    7. No, I would absolutely not buy such a big doll. It would be too difficult to handle, pose and all that things.

    8. I'd totally get one. I tend to love stuff that creeps most people out. and well.... i'm kinda making a 2/3 sized one so.... but thats off topic. Yeah. big eyes are hard to find. Theres some custom eye makers on etsy that make real sized ones. id alter kids clothes to fit, or make my own. I must say though that going to a thrift store to find shoes is so much easier and cheaper than searching online for doll sized ones. shipping would be scary beyond all reason though... O_o

    9. I getting tired enough of carrying my 1/3... Definitely no for 1/2.

    10. Not really, it'd be like carrying my niece around and I wouldn't know where to keep it.

    11. YES!!! As far as dolls go, I say the bigger the better!!! I want one each of the AOD 90 cm guys and a Lusion Lillia. I also would like the 1:1 size bjd Magical-Angel makes named Iris and she only costs 1200 dollars and is 180cm tall.

    12. Those huge dolls would be interesting to see, but I'm not sure I'd want them in my house. I've seen too many horror movies to have actual human-sized dolls around lol Like some people have said, it kinda delves into uncanny valley for me. Plus I really enjoy making sets and dioramas, so smaller actually works better for me. I can't even picture myself getting into SDs much...

    13. No. when they get that size they wander into weird territories. I try to collect doll types that people with similar mindsets collect. It's the same reason I don't wander into the puki or real pukifee size range. A lot of people in it are older women and it has a snow baby vibe. The 1:2 size sometimes has people collecting them as replacement companions, or using them as teddy bears, or becoming their "mothers". and other things that I'm generally not comfortable with. I would probably buy a 1:1 Bjd. But only if it were made of a durable material so that I could use it as a mannequin when I sell things, or a yard decoration for holidays.

    14. Probably not, I like the smaller dolls.

    15. I've had a hard enough time moving past 1/4 size dolls, honestly... I do have to 60cm, and I know for a fact they're as large as I'm going! Some of the recently released 90cm dolls have been lovely, but they're certainly not for me.

    16. oh yes..I would love a half scale doll in a realistic looking sculpt.
I would really love to find one in a life size ..6.2 for a man. its a dream ive had to make a life size sesshomaru since 2005.
I have seen the japanese life size ball joint girls on ebay around 10,000 to 20,000 but they are made from a famous artist I think???
half scale is a start though.
      YEAH!...BRING IT ON!

    17. If I had the money and space, but honestly doesn't seem convenient.

    18. I have a bunch of 70cm dolls and I know they're the max I can go. Maybe 78cm but they have to fit proportionately with the others.

    19. I think it would be interesting to have a doll that large, but where on earth would one put one? XD The display shelf would have to be so big! But you could probably use baby doll furniture and such, which would make shopping easier. They'd probably be a couple grand though... So I stick with a strong maybe.

    20. I'll pass. That is just way too big for my likings.
