Big Breast, Flat, or Inbetween

Personally, I really don't like big breasts. They are usually not in proportion with the doll's body. I know people with big breasts, but most of the time it just looks silly on dolls. I always feel like they have implants. So I would have to say that I prefer either normal size, small, or flat.

Plus I have to agree with Lelite bigger breasts does not have to equal sexier. If someone wants to show off their boobs or their doll's boobs all they need to do is wear tighter tops. So yeah, not seeing how that part makes a difference.

 

I would have to save I'm in between. I have a BBB Mei with medium-sized breasts but I'd like to get an Obitsu with large breasts. I guess it all depends on the character of the doll for me.

 

I think it might depend on what type of character you're trying to portray. I guess I'd try to stick around in average but I have all different sizes, like real life. Woman come in all kinds of shapes, I try to keep them all different from one another.

 

What does "type of character" have anything to do with it? So a person's physical body is a reflection of their inner personality. So because I'm almost flat chested I'm automatically meek and innocent and childlike? And my planned female BJD with small breasts must also be so because her actual character as a complete spitfire only belongs to that of an average busted doll (and certainly not on a larger bust either since then her character would just have to be sexy and promiscuous)?

 

Hmm. I guess it kind of depends on the character of the doll and the age I'm looking for. In general, I guess I'd prefer more busty, curvy scupts just because I find the shape more visually appealing. That being said, I'd seen a few really flat scupts that I liked just as much, because it matched the doll's...theme, I guess? Like, some dolls just come off as more mature, and I like that, but some just scream 'young' or 'boyish' and I'm okay with that.

 

InkyBear- I think that it's more of the fact that while you can portray your personality quite clear to those around you through how you speak and move, no one would say "your body type doesn't match your personality." But dolls do not have that luxury, and for the most part, their character is conveyed through physical appearance. So one doll owner may feel that larger breasts = sexy character, even if another does not. (This, of course, is just my thought on that.)

Personally, I like variation. I like having a curvy doll, but I can definitely appreciate other dolls beauty even if their body type is not my ideal. My problem is that I like hippy dolls. So usually with wider hips and bigger bottoms come larger-busted dolls. If the chest fits in nicely with the overall aesthetic of the doll in a way I find appealing, then I'm happy.

 

Yes, but even with dolls, it's not so much the body shape as it is the styling. You can dress a small-busted doll in childish things and give her big ol' innocent eyes and sad-looking eyebrows, then yes. She'll look childish and innocent. Or you can dress her like a mature woman dressing for her body shape - so, a nice looser off-the-shoulder silky long-sleeve with a high-waist pencil skirt and some high-heeled pumps. Throw in some eyebrows with an attitude, put up her hair, give her dangly earrings and more realistic eyes, and I think she'd look like a sexy, albeit petite, woman. I've already brought her up, but Natalie Portman is a great example. In one scene in V for Vendetta she's all lollied up to look like a teenage girl, and she looks very young and childish. But looking at most of her photos of her real self? She's obviously a mature, feminine woman who knows how to dress herself. There's absolutely no denying that.

That being said, yes. There are certain character archetypes (or character builds) that DO come with a body type. For example, stereotypical femme fatale (especially if you're going for the obvious) would probably be large-busted and curvy. That's not to say that ONLY that body types can fill those types of roles, but sometimes people like the obvious that will quickly communicate to the viewer the character type of the doll without having to take a closer look.

 

I think breast size can say a lot about the character, small breasts have a 'cuteness' and 'innocence' where large breasts show 'maturity' and 'sexiness'.... It would really depend on your character.... and I think all dolls have a character, so the ideal doll in your mind will probably dictate your preferences.

Edit- In response to Lelite's comments, I think even then breast size dictates character and impression. A mature character with large breasts vs small, an innocent character with large breasts vs small. It changes the impression that is given. I don't think there is a wrong or right answer to breast size, but I do think it affects the impression the character of the doll gives.

 

Flat all the way! my personal preference for women is petite so I'm a little biased.
Plus I have how unnatural most of the sculpted chests are. They are designed to look good in clothes, so they're molded as though they're being smashed in by a bra. If I could find a sculpt with natural braless boobies I might consider it xD

 

Personally I like variety.
I do think breast size can say something about a character.
Like for one of my girls, her character has been dancing her whole life, mostly classic ballet and in school she is very athletic. Ballet dancers, body builders and athletes are often smaller. I am planning on sanding down her breasts, since the body I want is too big, so that she is petite. I am also planning on doing the same with the muscle girl body once I have it.
It does not mean that every doll you see with smaller breasts have to portrait an athlete or a dancer but for me it would not look right with a ballet dancer on a Dollmore Glamour body.

 

I find it funny that people seem to equal large breasts with sexy. Maybe it's just me, but I usually associate a large breasted doll with a shy, self-concious studious girl. Small breast or flat breasted dolls I usually associate with sexy confident "model-type" girls.

 

I like them big on a doll; I think some "big" sized breasts for a doll can be TOO big though. I prefer one step down from the largest, but still larger than "average"

 

This is probably a bad question for someone who collects male dolls for the most part, but I'm going for it from a fair point of view. If I were to have a female doll (and I do plan on having one day, I swear!), I would primarily be looking for a doll with a smaller bust. Women of all kinds are beautiful, big, small, boyish, girlish, but for me, the thing that has always captured my eye is the youthful girl. A sort of maiden with a petite form, a budding beauty that still holds the stroke of a Pan-like charm. Perhaps it's the tomboy that attracts me, or the pale rose of growing up. It's all very romantic sounding, but that's just me I guess? Not to say that busty dolls aren't beautiful, because they can be, but everyone has their own version of what is perfect for them, and dolls are just that, perfect for us, it's their job to be so, so let each of them be exactly what you need when you need it. I guess that's all...

 

Depends on a doll and from collector. In my doll family SD`s are adults , MSD are young teenagers and anything smaller are kids or anthros/pets. I definitely dont like flat chests on SD girls, it makes them look immature and thats not what I`m going for. They have to have either medium or large breast, depending on mold and charecter. MSD can have medium sized if I dont have a choice but I rather them to have immature/flat chest. Anything smaller have a big no for breast, flat flat flat. I absolutely hate breast of any size on anthros.

 

The doll character is not only a personality but also the age of the doll and how certain collector planned her/his doll look to be like. Also everyone has a different view on certain aspects. For me flat chested SD looks too immature because my MSD`s supposed to be the immature ones and I dont like flat chest in adults in real life either. Everyone is allowed to have their doll the way they want. Flat chest doesnt mean that doll has to be innocent, neither big chest means that the doll has to be `sexy`. Same like in real life.

 

I bought my girl in small breast size but kinda kicked my self afterwards ( I hadn't look at the size before I placed the order ) when I saw exactly how small they were. But I lived with it, got used to it, etc. Then the opportunity came to change it and get a larger size. I'm kinda... hating myself now and wanting to go back to the super small breast now. :P

But I guess it depends on your dolls "character" and whatnot... *shrug*

 

I like the middle road; I don't want my dolls to be completely flat but I want them to have something for their clothes to hang off (so to speak XD). When I bought my first (and only) doll from Minoru World, I chose the full blossom body because I wanted the more developed breasts. Now that I'm planning my second doll from them, I think I'll go for the full blossom again as it really is a nice figure.

 

It depends on the doll & the character, really. Some dolls/characters really don't fit well with certain sizes.

 

Just like in real life not every flat-chested female is a child. Maybe you don't "like" it but that doesn't mean it isn't true, and while everyone is free to do what they please with their dolls, spouting such nonsense like it's the truth is pretty ridiculous.

 

Flat, small and medium. I'm not a fan of large breasts on my dolls. But that's just me. I love the breast size on Minisupias and mini Narae, and Zaoll bodies. They're not too large or distracting. I like both JID bust sizes (not the new glamor bust), but I also love the SID small bust even though I wouldn't consider them "small" by any means, but I think they compliment the body better and are more aesthetically appealing to me.
