@Quiet and Insane My Stone who is on the Dollshe Pure Body has cowboy boots, they came from I think either AC or from Nine 9 style. I will check both. Sorry no luck, maybe eBay.

 

@Quiet and Insane I know I’ve seen some boots similar in 70cm size. I just can’t remember exactly where. I’ve looked at boots so many places, sigh. I think AC has some though.

I decided to make a Bush hat for Spade yesterday. I was able to find some hat patterns for a Fedora and a Bush hat. I combined the Fedora top with the Bush hat brim to get a version that looks best. I had some fake suede fabric in tan to use. I got clever and glued paper to the pieces to give them stiffness, but not bulk so the hat can hold its shape. I hand sewed the crown together, then sewed on the brim. I just need to glue one more piece to the underside of the brim to finish it off. I might whip stitch around the entire brim edge for an added touch. Only if my sore arms can handle it! The fabric plus paper makes sewing hard!

 

Can't wait to see photos of his look. Makes me anxious for my own Spade and Nails to arrive. I think I hold a world record for longest wait for a BJD, two years come December for my Spade.

 

@animemom wow! THAT long of a wait?! I hope your guys come soon! I have to admit, I don’t have enough patience to wait that long. Fret, fret.

I got the hat finished except for the braided trim! My fingers are sore from the many pokes, but worth it.

For anyone who wants a Bush hat, I found a great leather one at SartoriaJ on Etsy. It’s for Iplehouse FID girls, but measures 15cm circumference or 5/6. I measured Spade’s head with the wig and it measures 15cm, so I think the hat would fit. It was my back up plan if my hat making was a fail. The hat is only $25, not bad!

I just wish I could find a pair of boots to fit Vince. The search continues!

 

@kurogane I would talk to Marcia of Facets by Marcia. She sells ones for the Tonner guys, you could ask her for help. Or look at Alice Collections. Also always eBay and Etsy.

 

@animemom your’re right, I should keep checking. I tried back in August, and the boots in the right size were all sold out. Boots seem to be getting harder to find in msd and smaller these days. They used to be the only choice, but tennis shoes have taken over! I’m really picky about shoe fit. If the shoes look too big, then I have a fit. I have found the 14” Kish shoes fit the Steve/Vince feet perfectly. Only downside is Kish is a girl doll, so finding guy styles other than tennis shoes is challenging. As for Tonner, I didn’t want hiking boot style, but maybe I should rethink it. It’s me that’s making this so hard! Spade is a dream to dress and shoe! Sorry for the ramble. I’ve grown to hate dressing dolls so much I’m no longer collecting any that need wigs, shoes or clothes.

 

@kurogane No worries I hear you on finding stuff to not only fit these guys, but not make them look odd. I have stuff saved from the dolls I sold that are MSD, as it could fit Nails or Spade. Once I know for sure can let go what won't work. Better safe than sorry. As for finding the stuff you really want, you never know who's going to make what. I would Google for images of BJD boots, and using the links. You never know what you'll find.

 

@kurogane - Pity I'm looking for bigger than your average SD. But that's a conversation for another thread.

I know I'm going to be super busy in the lead up to Christmas (and the aftermath), but I cannot wait until January's hot weather hits and I can get outside and start sanding and modding my Spade.

 

@Quiet and Insane hot weather in January sounds so strange to me! Well, good that you will have nice weather, and time to work on your Spade. I’m personally hoping for another snowy winter. Not good for face ups, but excellent for working on other projects!

 

Yes winter anywhere should be for projects. I guess with the miserable summer we had with excessive heat as well as rain we need a few weeks of cold weather, just hope my projects are enough to keep me busy as I do tend to go stir crazy..

 

I finally found pants for James (Nails)!!! Turns out they were sitting right under my nose all along. Kira was wearing them. I assumed that since all her other pants didn't fit James, these wouldn't fit either. But they were *just* big enough.



So now James has pants! Hoeray!! They're the "MSD - Buckle Skinny Pants (Black)[A1]" from Dollmore in case anyone wants to know.

 

Congrats James. I am sure Mira would be fine with other pants.

 

@kurogane - I've got family in Germany, while while snow at Christmas time isn't a strange concept, it seems like a bit of a novelty to those of us in the southern hemisphere.

@animemom - I absolutely loathe the cold. I can't do anything at all because it seems like my entire body just wants to shut down. People like joking that I'm solar powered. So nothing ever gets done in the winter.

@Eiko82 - Nice find! I love it when something like that happens.

 

@Quiet and Insane Yes!! Solar powered! I'm going to use that now too. It's a perfect description. Everything says Hibernation time!

 

I am going through menopause and for seven years I have had to go through hot flashes. In the winter it's fine, but when it's so hot you can't get comfortable in the first place having your whole body feel like you're having hot feelings inside is not welcomed. I tried an over the counter medication and had very bad side effects. Then last Spring asked doctor for something only to find out before taking it it could give me suicidal thoughts. So still having them. So winter for me is only time I feel normal.

 

Ha, ha, me too! I’m so hot all the time, I only feel good if the temps are very cool. Thankfully where I live, the hot summer is only four months. Rest of the year is rain and cool, with maybe, just maybe snow if it’s a good winter. Menopause sucks!

Spade’s clothes from TTYA got shipped! I hope the pants fit. I seems like a guessing game. And I also got the supplies to make a necklace for Vince and Spade. Just the little things to finish off their looks.

 

@aernath - Hehe, it does fit quite well.

@animemom - I'm at the complete opposite end of the age spectrum but I have a set of health issues which complicate things. The weather's supposed to be warming up at the end of the week, which will be great because my back, shoulders and other muscles ache from clenching against the cold and shivering so much.

@kurogane - Ooh do keep us updated if they fit, because I'll have to get my Spade some pants soon. Failing that I could always make him a pair of colourful board shorts to suit the summery weather (when it eventually arrives - grr!)

 

I am sorry about your health issues @Quiet and Insane it always seems most of us have something to do with our health at some point in our lives. I think I was healthiest in my 20's and 30's.

 

I decided to try making some jewelry for Vince and Spade and found some tiny onyx crystals with silver bails. I also got some tiny black cording. I’ve tried beading and the findings are my nemesis. Maybe I will get help. I promise to share went I get all this stuff done. Waiting takes so long!

 

Good luck, I plan to make some jewelry for my one girl, but will just stuff I can tie on her or slip over her head. I have had no luck making anything really good.
