1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD in Unexpected Places

Jun 10, 2007

    1. Oh yezz, I remember walking around in the mall one day, and I passed by this cart and had a double-take when I saw that they had a ton of doll-related merchandise @_@! (not dolls themselves, but keychains, notebooks, etc) Not to mention how reasonably-priced everything was! XD I spent all the remaining money in my wallet (not much, mind you D': )

    2. I've never seen a BJD in an unexpected place, although, if I ever did I'd probably run up to the person and start talking to them right away. And normally I'm a very shy person XD

    3. I second this.

    4. The other day at my local flea market, there are several large canopies with the floors lined with boxes filled with various things. I'm pretty sure it's Chinese in origin, and on a package of gloves it had a doll I can't quite put my finger on. She's definitely a BJD and I squealed when I saw it! I took a picture and once I can get it off my phone I'll upload.

    5. As a Lolita, I frequent a lot of cutesy Asian stores and see bootleg merch all the time!
Sometimes they make me lol so much I buy them- I have a volks magic motion compact where the dolls eyes open and close, and a DoD notebook!

Years before I got into BJDs, I remember seeing pencil tins with Volks dolls on them- I was like, what *are* these things? XD

    6. I should upload a photo of this one day, but I got it from my aunt one year. Dunno where she got it from though. It's a tiny keychain shoe with an analog clock sewn into it. Odd? Yes. There's a picture of a doll on the side, but I can't remember what it is at the top my head since it's not on me now. But I don't think it's the strangest doll bootleg out there, eh? ^^

    7. I saw some stickers of BJDs in an Asian dollar store.
I think they may have been owners pics of dolls, but it was a while ago and I didn't take any pictures of the stickers, so I'm not entirely sure.

    8. I was watching a video by a singer named Kerli that I came across and it looked like she had BJDs in her video. Man, the things you find surfing youtube!

    9. I was watching a show about tattoo artists who specialize in coverups, and one client came in who had a terrible tattoo of a horse that she wanted covered up. She wanted her new tattoo to reflect her job...she is a fashion photographer for dolls!! She gave the artist a some of her pictures, and he designed a very stylish dolly (with joints showing) as her tattoo. I never expected to see BJDs on TV (though I've heard rumor's that Abby from NCIS has one in her lab...I've never spotted it, though :sweat).

    10. XD; I was actually wondering if it would be strange to take a BJD to a hospital...I'm having this lung function test next month where they're going to induce an asthma attack (AUGH) and I'd just feel generally a lot better if I had something like my MSD girl or my Yo-SD girl with me.

    11. My friend and I took our dolls to our exhibition today and we shocked a lot of people. We posed them with and on the art and everyone thought they were part of the installations until we started moving them around. They loved it though. People were curious and we let them take pictures.

    12. When I were walking on the street , I saw some bags and phone cases which had BJDs pictures on its . That really surprised me a lot because BJDs is not so popular in my country .

    13. I don't see why not. I'd ask, but honestly, if your doll will keep you calmer, they might want you to.

My BFF gelfing21 took her SD into an ambulance when she was having a bad asthma attack, and she's a full grown woman. He kept her calm until the meds began to work, and then kept her calm while in the ER. She told me the nurses were fascinated with her boy!

    14. That wasn't me! I'm not the BFF! No, no, noooooooo! lol

    15. Then I think I'll take Kazumi since she's the only one currently without a face up and I can hold onto her. (My mom is so gonna roll her eyes at me for it but screw it..XD; I'll take her for my OWN sanity's sake) Thank you. ^^

    16. As a Paramedic, I can honestly say that "anything within reason that's going to keep my patient calm is worth bringing into my ambulance!"

Good luck with your hospital visit!

      Ryu

    17. Thank you Ryu I really appreciate it. ^^

    18. I found a Real Puki in a dollhouse miniatures magazine once. They're the perfect size for that, but the hobby crossover surprised me.

    19. I saw that episode!

One time I was at a local casino and there was a FL Minifee hanging out at one of the slot machines while it's owner tried to win some money lol. I was with my boyfriend and his buddies so I didn't get to ask her about it

    20. I saw several LUTS MSDs at one of our clients' home. He told us that his mother owns them along with other dolls (porcelain and bisque). I really never expected that they were that popular even to our clients (were antique restorers).
