1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD in Unexpected Places

Jun 10, 2007

    1. I agree. Take the doll.

As for dolls in unexpected places... I feel like I'm the one who takes them to places. I've taken mine to school, to parks, out shopping... I would just die of happiness if another BJD collector came up to me. I keep hoping that if I take my dolls to school and prominently display them at the cafeteria table or something, someone will come up and say, "I have one!" It may be an impossible dream, but I'm going to try! I would definitely approach people with a doll or doll related items in a heart beat.

In fact, tomorrow, I'm taking my SD girl to history club. I have a blind friend there who just LOVES her. She's asked me repeatedly to "bring my pretty doll." She loves to pet the girl's wig.

    2. I actually found out about the hobby from the Kerli video

    3. I was once looking around photography tips websites for posing ideas, and found an article using a photo montage of PukiPukis doing crazy poses as an example. That was surprising since there are no other doll photos that I've come across anywhere on the site, and they didn't really seem to know what they were, just that they were an example of fun posing.

    4. Wow... I wish that I would have seen someone hanging around with their doll/dolls.

    5. I just had a look (always interested in artists I don't know yet), it's Kerli's song Tea Party, and at about 0:26 there are BJDs. They look familiar to me, I think I have seen the sculpts here on DoA so it might be they're FL MNFs. Here's the link to the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVAvBadi9r0

    6. I have seen this girl with a bjd shirt walk through the city a couple of times now!
Not seen any others though, some of your storys are waaay cooler @-@ xxx

    7. aaah I wish I had a story like that to share, I would love to socialise around that; does it happen that people come and talk to you when you take them out?

    8. DC is really far too "serious" of a town for there to be many people showing off their dolls. :( One of my friends was into BJDs in college/right after college, but she ended up selling off all of her collection because she didn't have time, didn't talk to anyone about them and lost interest. She (and a few other people) advised me not to publicize my interest because it'd hurt my career. This town is all about workworkwork and no fun. There's maybe a handful of interesting geeks, and they're ostracized. If I could, I'd move to somewhere with a thriving creative scene, but the hubs and I are both defense contractors, and there's not many places to find work. /rant
