1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD Orbyrarium Discussion Thread

Apr 25, 2006

    1. Also still waiting.

    2. hm I checked my statement online. I was charged but haven't received it yet T-T maybe it arrived while I'm away on vacation. d'oh!

    3. I haven't got mine, but I'm in Ireland so... (it was sent out on the 17th though, how long will it take)
and we are still wondering why we were overcharged, was it for international shipping?

    4. I got my book yesterday. It was in good shape. I imagine it's too late to buy any limiteds but I may try anyway.

I was very impressed with it, I glanced through it, but I want to go back and look it over more carefully this weekend.

    5. Still waiting for my book. My friend who lives a 100 km from here got it... I'm leaving for my vacation today ;.; I was hoping to get it before I left.

    6. I still didn't get mine my Order was # 819 and they charged my card on 7-13
      >_> I'm assuming it was sent by Media mail (I hate it with a passion) so It will take a long time to come.

    7. I am feeling worried about my book order. It was charged to my credit card on 4/26. Where are you guys looking to find what number your order is? This is such a huge thread it is hard to find such specific info.
Should I contact the magazine??? I did just send them an email.

    8. I ordered last week and got the book two days later - of course it helped that the publisher is in the same state. :) Mine arrived in perfect shape, it had a "do not bend" note on it and my mailman brought it directly to my door.

Gorgeous, informative book, although I do agree with the person who said they wished for a faceup tutorial for those of us without airbrushes. I'd love to buy one, but they cost a fortune compared to how often I'd use it. :(

    9. i ordered last july 9th...so i guess mine will take more time to get here...T_T

    10. Ah, my cc was charged on the 10th and they mailed my book out on the 14th.. And I haven't received it yet. =_= It better arrives this coming week! >:/

    11. ECONOMY??? Why does my invoice say Airmail!!! No wonder it takes forever to get here. I'm not a happy camper if I was charged the expensive airmail postage and got economy instead:...(

    12. guys, unfortunately HD doesnt have any control over the speed of the mail, however, if you were somehow mischarged for your postage, I'm sure they'll reimburse you. If you need more information, I'd contact them directly. Do we really need 50 posts saying "I haven't gotten my book yet" ?
It's normal that people living in different areas are going to get their issues at different times. *_* Me, I usually get my HD mags last because of the routing. If you're really worried that it is lost in the mail or something, again, contact HD directly. I'd love to get back to discussing the book itself.

sorry if I sound snarky, I don't mean to be, but I'm hopped up on dayquil (have cold).

    13. To get back to discussing, I've only glanced through mine so far. I was beyond tickled to see familiar dolls though. Especially since the Black Shall on pages 76 to 81 now lives with me!

    14. Do realize that in the News thread, Nikita specifically requested that people post whether or not they had gotten their books in this thread, so there's some legitimate cause for confusion. :)

      Hope you feel better soon!

    15. Well, I asked that people post their received/not received comments here because they do not belong in the News thread. I had made that request previously in that thread but people were still posting the comments to it.

As Aimee had said, it's best to direct any questions regarding the shipping of your book to Haute Doll directly. At this point, so many people are or have received their books that I don't think we need to have more "I got my book!" posts now. Rather, post your comments about the book instead. ;)

    16. That's cool. So here's a different kind of post - I got my book. It's badly damaged. Any idea what the next step should be? I feel bad about asking for a replacement, because I want there to be more of these, and if there are too many problems with this one then there are less likely to be more in the future...but I do want a book in good condition.

I looked in this thread for info, but got tired of scrolling through page after page of "no book yet" comments.

    17. You'll need to contact HD directly. They will replace books that were damaged. You probably could use this email from their site:

      [email protected]

    18. I ordered my book early in July and got it in about 3 weeks or so... Envelope in-tact, book OK. Although the glue separated the pages from the cover by the end of my reading of it, which is annoying, but DOES happen with some books.

Anyway--I really enjoyed the whole book. It was lovely to look at, very informative, even for those who know much of what is presented. The how-to articles were extremely well-presented. Much better than many books on customization on the market. It was a nice mix of eye-candy and information and fun. :)

I love the variety of articles. It was fun starting out with a graphic-story intro and with the list of various doll companies. The photos overall where lovely, although I did wonder at the choices of some of those chosen for the doll companies... such as the two dolls facing the other way for Dollshe. Nice photo, but not very representative, I thought! No big deal though.

My favorite parts had to be seeing the techniques of two of my favorite faceup artists, Satoko Ohno and Evenstar. It was great to see how their process compared to each other. And I would have bought the book for that alone, since their dolls are so lovely! The beautiful photos really added to it all.

It was fun seeing familiar names and dolls and being introduced to new ones, too.

I hope the book is a success! It certainly deserves to be. Congrats to everyone involved! :D

    19. I really love the book; for the past two weeks I was carrying it around and reading through the articles. Kudos to all the writers who worked on it - the interviews were great and well-conducted, and the photos are lovely to look at.
After reading and looking, today I finally got down to starting on the patterns... the Mio pattern seems to be fine, although I have to check fit when I'm done, but has anyone else tried the Softly She Walks patterns? I was really looking forward to sewing it up today, but at the enlargement specified it came out huge. (I was resizing a basket full of things today, and everything else on that photocopier came out fine.) Was I being a spaz on those two copies, or was there a typo?
      I have a gauge and ruler out, and with any luck I'll figure it out on my own, but it's frustrating because I hate math so much. o_o;

      edit: figured it out.
To get it into the slender mini scale (which is usually 75% of normal SD-sized patterns), enlarge the main body/sleeve by 120%; cuffs and collar stay the same.
So in theory the full SD enlargement is 160% on the main body/sleeve and 133% on the cuffs and collar. Probably a little bigger.

    20. got mine in NY.. however need to call the publisher as there was a slight problem.

      :...(
