1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD Orbyrarium Discussion Thread

    1. Hi! and thank you for replying.
i'm sorry you're also experiencing troubles in receiving the book. i do hope your second copy turns out soon. fingers crossed!
as for me, i dont think i'll ask for a replacement in case i dont get the book by the end of the month.
it's too much hassle and i dont think it's worth it.
I obviously hope to receive the book asap but, if i dont, i'll just ask for a refund right away. I'll try to get it another way in the near future.

      xoxo

    2. From South East Asia here...

I've been waiting for 5 weeks and at the end of this week, 6 weeks. I've emailed them asking for a replacement twice. First they said it too 4 weeks, then they mentioned it took 6 weeks. I'm getting a little annoyed >< I preordered the book when it was announced....

If I still see no book end of this week, and HauteDoll tells me to wait again, I don't know....I've been patient enough T.T And it's wearing thin...*sigh*

    3. Just wanted to say that I had the opportunity to take advantage of one of the very handy tips in the book . . . Angldst's Lydia (Miyu) needed new lashes, but I didn't like the downward-pointing look . . . and I remembered that there was a tip in the Satoko Ohno face-up tutorial about how to curl lashes with boiling water and a towel . . . and, lo and behold, it worked quite well!

Thanks again for putting together such a great resource, guys ^_^

    4. ashbet - eee, I'm glad it worked out! I've never had much luck with eyelashes. I'd really like to take a full weekend and try out some of the tutorials in the book for painting... or even just sew up a pattern. it's nice to have everything fully in english with photos.

    5. I am . . . shall we say . . . eyelash-disabled. I won't say that these turned out FABULOUSLY, but they're far better than my previous attempts -- and the curling technique worked perfectly!

(Now I just have to work on figuring out the best glue to use -- I've had bad luck with eyelash glue, Elmer's glue, and Aileen's Tacky Glue, which are three of the recommendations I'd found on here . . . will have to keep looking!)

I'm going to be scanning and printing out the patterns for Angldst to work on -- she's fantastic at sewing, whereas my skills are more in the art arena . . . so I hope to have some new outfits for both our dolls eventually as well!

      -- A :>

    6. oh, I'm eyelash disabled too, dont worry... !
I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I hoard BJD patterns and I pretty much never sew for them! it's sad! (I sew for myself all the time). That's cool that your friend is willing to help you make outfits, it's generous of her!

    7. I loved this book! I think it's one of the best things we have had in BJD produced outside of Asia. It's creative and interesting and inspiring.
Mine came pretty quickly and it was not damaged.

      Kudos to everyone involved!

    8. I had finally got mine, I did my normal call home to check for mail and there it was had my dad check to make sure it was my Bjd O book and it was, so he fliped threw it and thought the photos were awesome.

I have read threw almost all the articals there great! All the photos are so pretty. I had taken it to work and my friends when straight for it. Lol
I hope there will be a 2nd one
That could have info on Cp and there Delfs and more ^^
      Love the book
      (Now off to bed)

    9. just wanted to say that i finally received my copy of the book. i found it coming back from my errands this morning...on the door steps!*_*
book is a little bent on one side and i wish they took more care in packing up because books do get damaged in the mail. :| but in any case...it looks promising from what i've seen, now i'm gonna have a proper look at it. ^^

    10. Wow...After waiting for a month i got mine too...I really worried and thought it got lost somewhere on the way...But finally...Yay!!
Aha...but i must treat it better since the papers look like they'll detach any minute >__<

    11. oh i'm happy you got yours too. :) i dont know about mine as far as the pages as concerned because i havent looked into it properly yet...fingers crossed they're fine. *_*

    12. I'm not sure if it's because of the handling or not but it really looks like it'll fall to pieces...Oh and the back cover is damaged T_T

    13. the poorly made packaging sure has something to do with it since my mine came bent on one side too. *_*

    14. My books arrived well packed in a cardboardbox ^^ But that might be because there were five books... Anyway, it's very nice, I'm trying out that denimskirt pattern for starters.

    15. My book wasn't packed in cardboard and arrived rolled up to me >.< i was able to make it less rolled but putting it flat with a heavy object sitting on top for a week. Although I have tried scanning the pages to make copies of the patterns for myself. I had to be carefull cause the pages seemed to be trying to get loose.. =\ none have fallen though.

I do have suggestions for the next book version if there is ever one.
      1) If you are going to talk about American makers of BJD... please do include ALL of them. I'm a little peeved that Bishonen House wasn't even mentionned. He's been doing dolls since last year. Maybe it was overlooked and we are all human but I would like the situation to be rectified for another book.
      2) Patterns are nice but it would be nice to have all the pieces be enlarged in the same ratio on the same page. It makes for a much easier understanding. Also if a pattern is going to be proposed, include the instructions. If you can't include them just don't add the patterns to the book. I mean if you were to buy a pattern at the fabric store and it came without instruction or the right sizing, you would want your money back. Most patterns were well explained and I thank the creators of these patterns.
      3) Boys patterns, yes there was one pattern, but it's safe to say that the boys deserve as much to have a nice wardrobe as the girls.

Those were the three main issues I had with the books. That said I thought the book was of good quality with a lot of info anf tutorials. There were nice interviews also.

    16. I finally got my book, too! It came yesterday, and it's very cool! I have to say my favorite part was the doll room tutorial! I can't wait to try this!! I loved the scenes in Earnan's tale- so many cool to-scale accessories!! That 4 poster bed is to die for! :D

Oh wait- my REAL favorite part was seeing JuJube's gorgeous Unoas in the corsets I made for them!!! :fangirl: (I also made the bikini that Ananya is wearing! :) )

I do wish there were more unoa patterns and SD10 girls patterns, and more boy patterns. I wish there were LOTS more patterns! (There's an idea for you contributors and HauteDoll- an English pattern book would be awesome!! ;) )

I really do hope there is another book you guys did an awesome job!! :aheartbea

    17. I just ordered my book on eaby. I can't wait to get it!!! I'm so excited. I really wanted to support this book. Mostly because I'm hoping a second book will be made!!!

    18. I just wanted to say I love the book and hope there will be many more to come. Mine came with no damage in a large padded envelope with card board on the top and bottom. I have carefully read & re-read every article and am ready for volume II.

I hope to see DoA Kaye's *Beautiful* sculpts in the next book. And also I hope to see the US company Bishonen House too. There are some very talented people here on this board.

    19. I can't say I was very fond of the stories - the one in the back especially seemed disjointed and well, poorly written - but the tutorials are fantastic. I blushed my Unoa very easily using Ms. Boate's pastel tutorial.

    20. I don't know if anyone has asked this question, but does the ABJD Orbyrarium carry any patterns for MSDs?
