It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. BJD Pet Peeves

Apr 30, 2016

    1. To add to your reply Amet, I wanted to clarify that "looking like a man" and "looking like a woman" is still very much gender roles, which I'm personally have a strained relationship towards. My Rusi, Morgan, would probably be referred to as "one of those gay dolls" even though she uses "she/her/they/them" pronouns and is genderfluid, but because she has what is traditionally called "male anatomy" clearly she must be a dude. *sigh*

So I guess you could say one of my pet peeves are people who enforce binary gender and gender roles within this hobby. ;)

    2. Pet Peeves? Hm, let's see...

Well, I don't like the drama and cattiness that I've seen in some parts of the community, but that's more of a general overall pet peeve.

I guess...not having more of a variety for elf eared sculpts out there that don't have big eyes, small noses, and look uber feminine when it comes to the guys--and aren't limited releases. I mean...I'm fine with the more feminine male elves, but... none of my planned guys are that feminine, and finding just the right sculpts without having to do an ear mod was frustrating. I'd also love to see more mature woman elf sculpts out there, as a majority have that innocent, little girl look to them.

Outside posing gripes and small things, that's my big bjd peeve. Moar masculine elves please!:wiggle

    3. I second wonky eyes and people calling your doll your baby my biggest pet peeve is people insisting that my boy is gay I love boys love and yaoi but not everyone of my characters is gay and he doesn't even have a desire for sex in his story but all my friends insist that he's gay and that he's the bottom on top of it I love the fact that this community is so accepting especially about sexual orientation and all sorts of different genders but my guy isn't gay please please respect that

    4. I don't like the drama and 'confession blogs'

I also hate when my doll randomly headbangs while I'm posing/dressing her, and I wish they couldn't get stained from dark clothing & wigs.

    5. ..I don't like when people call bjds "dollfies". Idk why it just really bugs me. They're bjds, not dollfies. ><

    6. I definitely agree with the gender roles thing! They don't make sense to force upon humans, so imposing them on the outfits of strung-together pieces of resin just seems silly.

I'm also kinda sick of people who are rude or condescending towards more sentimental bjd owners. I don't see it a lot, but it's irritating when I do. I treat my dolls kindly, cuddle them, and talk to them, and I like the Volks view of bjds, but that doesn't mean I'm a silly child for it. (And I don't like when people tease others that have animist beliefs about their doll, or other spiritual beliefs around them. :( )

    7. My pet peeve : the increasing number of dols I see with their mouths hanging open. It makes them look kind of derpy.

    8. But what about the people who own super dollfies, mini super dollfies, etc..? :wiggle

Anyway, my pet peeve? I'm such a perfectionist so things like amateurish sculpting, clunky joints, and so on drive me nuts. I'm especially anal about the size and shape of the ball joint in the wrist and how well the arm tapers into it :sweat I also have a drive to fix things (as well as enjoying seeing other people do the same) so when I see a doll that's damaged, stained, has poorly done mods, etc...I get this "must fix!" urge :eusa_sile I love seeing other people's restoration threads too.

    9. They can call them bjds or dollfies. I mean like other bjds, that aren't from the dollfie line, shouldn't be called dollfies. ><

    10. My pet peeve is the shoulder width of most girl doll bodies in comparison to their heads. I don't mind how small the waist is, how big he chest is and other parts. But if the shoulders are too narrow in general to the rest of the body, I skip over the doll completely.

    11. My petpeeve currently is floppy bodies, and mobility.

    12. My pet peeve for my personal dolls is when a wig won't sit right or falls on the doll's face weird. I'll mess with it for as long as I need to. Also, if I take a whole series of what I think are awesome photos, then I look at them on the computer and I realize that one of the eyes looks off ever so slightly. I then have to adjust the eyes and re-do the photoshoot if it's too noticeable to me and I can't fix it in Photoshop :XD:

If we're talking in general, I guess it would be seeing wonky eyes in pictures because it's just really distracting. Also, fur wigs that look like they were just placed on the doll and shaken so the hair stands on end. I know some people prefer that look, but it reminds me of troll dolls. To each their own :)

    13. One of my biggest Pet Peeves it MSC :vein. I just don't understand why it's so expensive, and why nothing similar or equally good has been produced in the states.:huh?:
My biggest pet peeve has got to be people who think the dolls are wierd. I know the dolls are not "normal", but whenever I try to show the art behind them, tattoo creations, wigs, clothes, etc, the only thing I get is a dirty look, :doh

    14. This! After getting my first doll I was so surprised how inconsiderate to my feelings friends and Family would be. It's kind of hurtful to have my boy be called creepy and gross and I really don't want to put him away because people come over... If you don't like them and find them creepy that's fine but you don't have to go on and on about it =/

    15. It ticks me off SO BAD when people mistake my boy dolls for girls. My own father did it a while ago, picked up one of my dolls who has a FREAKING BEARD and was all "oh she's cool" and I was like -_- SHE? what, you think it's a bearded lady? Wth?

It irritates me because I do all my own faceups so it's almost like a criticism of my ability to paint a doll, HE is supposed to look like a HE and when he doesn't it means I failed in that task. So it offends me.
In all liklihood though, people just default think all dolls are girls regardless. I could hand the manliest manly doll to some people and they'd still think it was just a really ugly girl. *sigh*
and as a predominantly male doll collector, it really irritates me.

Also yeah, calling my dolls creepy. You're not just insulting my taste, you're insulting my faceups and styling. It's RUDE.

Another peeve is the closed minded morons who think just because you have dolls you're immature, irresponsible and "trying not to grow up." Much as I joke about "adulting sucks" and not wanting to be a grown up, I AM and I have dependents. I have to be responsible, I don't have a choice in the matter, but that doesn't mean I can't indulge my inner child with dollies if I want to. I'm sure other people have equally as strange hobbies, I mean to me, collecting shoes or handbags as some women do is really strange and pointless but that's socially acceptable? Bleh.
I had a woman come into my home and scold me for collecting dolls once, as if that made me an unfit parent. It was so rude and I was shocked someone could be that nasty and that presumptuous.
Never let her back into my home ever again. Awful vile person.
Sadly, you get that sometimes. The judgement.

    16. One of my pet peeves is getting dolls with floppy bodies and being unable to get the tension right. Re-stringing can be a REAL pain sometimes! :sigh

The othere one is getting pinched by the doll's joints whenever I'm moving them!!! AHHHHHOUCH!!!!!!!!!

    17. One of mine is that moment when people (usually outside the hobby) ask, inevitably, "how much did this cost?" Because when you tell them the truth they either go the "that much for a DOLL?!?!" route or the "you must be rich lol" one. And neither is cool. Yes I have expensive dolls, but believe me, I'm far from rich. I might be a lot more rich if I didn't have the expensive dolls, but alas...

I just hate the assumption that I'm an entitled 1%-er rich brat just because I have a doll that cost a lot. I worked for those dollars, and I probably had to use layaway. I also don't have any other major hobbies, lol.

Another one: I understand why faceup artists say they will not duplicate or re-create another faceup, but it does make it next to impossible to get a damaged one re-done or an old one updated, rather than have to get an entirely new style for the doll every time. I don't want you to copy it exactly, I just want something that looks mostly like it...

And finally, and this is 100% my opinion, you're free to do what you want with your dolls, but I'm really not fond of the "decora" style. I don't get on anybody for it, I just look the other way when it comes up, but it's very aesthetically unpleasing to me.

    18. Really wanting the doll but having to wait a long period of time to either save up for the doll or receive the doll since shipping wait times can be long. Its painful when you just want the doll in your hands already hahaha

Another thing is people not really understanding the hobby :/

    19. It bothers me when people call them "BJD dolls", but thats an easy fix, as you can always tell someone, hey, what you're saying is Ball Jointed Doll Dolls and they can just call them BJD's

    20. My only peeve is really rude people. Some people have their heads so far up their butt and just think they're so much better than everyone else. Or when they make fun or gossip about other people's dolls because they don't suit their personal preferences. :vein We're all dolly nerds, we need to stick together!!! :daisy
