1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BJD Pet Peeves

Apr 30, 2016

    1. My most serious peeve is people who think they should be entitled to own a doll, get irrationally irritated that the dolls are expensive, and refuse to do what everyone else does (namely, save up). They end up going to ... well, dolls that really shouldn't exist, and I won't get into that. But it's the sense of entitlement that gets to me.

    2. I know so many people do this, but when someone says "BJD dolls" I feel irritated. "BJD" is already ball jointed doll. So you like your ball jointed doll doll? :XD: Oh, but the other day my mom called BJDs "Glorified Barbie dolls" and I about blew my top. Of course, some people just won't ever understand the hobby, but seriously? These dolls are amazingly expensive works of art!

    3. - Dress sales photo's that are posed to make a pretty picture rather than showing the whole garment - I can't tell if the skirt ends above, at, or below the knee if the camera is angled down from above to take the picture.

      - Sales pictures for trousers that have an untucked shirt obscuring the waistband. I can't tell how they fit and how high or low the waistband if those details are hidden!

      - Sales pictures for shoes that don't show them from the side so you can't see the heel shape or style

      - Sales threads (not specifically on DoA) that don't list a price but say, "make me an offer"... WTF?!?! I'm always reluctant to do that in case they're the sort of person who will be offended by an offer that they consider too low. Also, I don't want to have to wait around to find out they won't accept my offer when I could be missing the chance to buy the same item form someone who just listed the price in the first place.

      - Sales threads that don't list a price but say to ask for the price if you're interested - Just list how much you want to get for the damned item and let people make up their minds whether it is worth that much to them rather than faffing around with asking for a price and waiting for a reply and then having to decide if they can afford it or not... I know people who then feel embarrassed about saying they can't afford the price once they've asked for it and been told what it is - that sort of thing can all be avoided by just listing the price in the first place!!!

      - Sellers who don't like honesty in feedback and refuse to sell to you again if you leave anything less than full-blown praise as feedback.

      - People who are oversensitive about others opinions of their dolls. I have friends who won't visit because dolls creep them out. They're no less my friends for it - they have a right to the opinion and if something creeps them out they have a right to avoid being in a situation where that would happen. And it's not rude of them to tell me they won't come visit because my dolls are creepy - it's HONEST. I wouldn't be much of a friend to them if I were upset because of it, or expected them to keep their feelings secret (or to come visit anyway despite the emotional upset it might cause them) - the alternative are that they either lie to me, or they don't tell me why they aren't coming over any more.and I'm left thinking they're avoiding me... that's just nonsensical behaviour. It's like saying someone is rude for telling you they have an allergy to your cat.

    4. I think my biggest pet peeve is people trying to dictate what you do with your doll. It's /your/ doll. You paid (sometimes a ridiculous) amount of money for the privilege of creating the doll you want. If I don't like it, that's my issue and not one I should attempt to shove down your throat. I can either not look or work on my own dolls. It bothers me to see people trying to police other people by saying what you can and cannot do with your own hunk of resin.

This hobby /is/ great because there's variety in sculpts to see and what people do with them.
