1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

BlueBlood Doll Discussion

Apr 5, 2009

    1. This image is somewhat true to life, except he's more of a yellow shade in reality, where this is pinky: link

Maybe I'm just imagining things. I hardly open the blinds or take him outside, so maybe he's a more natural color in actual light. We're due for some new light bulbs anyway.

    2. fidelis - I see what you mean. My boy definitely looks "yellow" when the light is low (evening). He sort of glows. But when he is in indirect light he's much lighter. I know that Island Doll and Camilia Dynasty also do environmental resin if you're still exploring other bodies that might match and haven't looked at those yet.

    3. I have a CD boy(2010) and the translucent quality of the BBD resin means they DO NOT match regardless of the different skin tones. My CD is NY and my BBD is peach-skin, BTW. I can take a pic of them together if you want so you can see what I mean.

    4. First time in this thread! :blush I have to admit to having a love hate relationship with my Waltz, also. I am his second owner (bought him 6 months or so ago) and I soooooo regret having his default faceup redone (by an artist I hadn't used before - so not going the "special deal" route again). I do not like it one little bit (not to mention he arrived with a dandy of a scratch through the faceup).

After going through all of the great photos and glowing posts, I think I'll give him another try though; and see if I can get Ban Sidhe to fix my mistake.......

Here is Donovan before and after:

Yes ... I think I'll give him another chance.

    5. kirahfaye - ooh ouch. That really sucks. I hope you get that scratch fixed soon/get your guy looking as you envisioned! I think these boys have so much potential but a disappointing face-up can change everything. (I've just sent 2 heads off for the first time to be painted, so I may be in your shoes soon). But I have to agree, I kinda like the default face-up better on your boy. I think Medusa/BlueBlood Doll is so awesome, I wonder if you could get her to re-do your boy??

In the meantime my Julien (Valentine) wanted to stop by and give you courage to give your Donovan a second chance.

    6. I was a touch motivated today and hauled out some of my dolls for pictures. Surprisingly, my camera actually played mostly nice with me. This is Ryzel (BBD Valentine) with the love of his demonic life, Quin (JeiDoll Ashford)

I'd like to send Ryzel's head out for a new face-up but that requires money I don't have at the moment *sigh*. I was also too lazy to put Ryzel's horns on him.

    7. Thanks! When I sent Donovan out for a face-up I wanted him to look like a pretty boy (even more so than the default). Now he just looks pretty bad... Ha! I can laugh because the artist didn't charge me and was so apologetic.

    8. LOL...It's good to hear you're still inspired and can laugh about it! And yeh, free + apologetic helps soften things. I can't wait to see what you end up doing with him.

Iron_Dog - So nice to see your boys again. These boys do long hair so well.

    9. Ryzel's hair wasn't supposed to be as long as it is (waist length as opposed to the thigh length he has). I had bought him a DZ wig that was the perfect style/length but I swear if you looked at it sideways, it would pop off. So I ended up getting him the Cool Cat one he's wearing with the intention to trim it shorter. I couldn't bring myself to do it though.

    10. Nope, nope, nope. My blue Blood Waltz just isn't working for the character. :(

    11. I think he could be really pretty with the right face up. He's a really nice sculpt maybe you need to give him another chance :)

    12. What I need is a smaller SD, unfortunately.

    13. That's too bad Kirahfaye. Smaller SD's under the 60-62cm range are not the easiest to find although SoulDoll has their Vito boys that are... 52cm I think. I think some people have gotten a girl and modded them to a boy to get the shorter than 60cm SD boy.

I have a 58cm SD but he was a limited collab project (38 of him were made) and I've never seen another of him anywhere.

    14. Kirahfaye, how about the Dollmore Adam boys? The mold has shrunk, so they're around 58cm now. And Delfs are pretty short too, just under 60cm I think (59cm?). And if you want really small, out of proportion with generally every other doll, there's the Idealian 51's.

    15. BlueBlood Doll have some great sculpts. Unfortunately, the only one I really fell in love with was Waltz. He was one of the first BJDs I ever liked! :) If anyone here has a Waltz, I consider you the luckiest person on earth, haha!

    16. Ok, somebody help the confused please. Why are the BB listed in the non Asian dolls section? They're sold from LA not made there. I lost this list and found it while looking for something else.

    17. I don't know madera. I was under the impression that they were made in China. However since the creator is here in the States, perhaps that's the determining factor?

    18. My Julien asks this question all the time. He feels a little awkward around his buddies from Korea, Thailand and China. But I tell him that maybe it's because he was designed in the US vs. Asia like his buddies. ;) But he'll always be my favourite. :aheartbea

    19. I think it's based on the country that the company/sculptor is in not necessarily where the dolls are actually cast. Lume Doll is considered a non-Asian doll and the sculptor is in Florida but I think she gets her dolls made overseas. Tinybear has RS cast her dolls but she's in the UK and thus is also a non-Asian company. But I could be wrong here.
