Bobobie Christmas Doll: 50cm Luna doll

Nov 25, 2008

    1. Hi Winky, even taking into consideration all the criticism (which is well thought out and warranted), I still like her. She is a fun, kind of anime ,"not really real" girl. I think the faceup you did for her is fun, and that you captured the way I saw her in my mind, but I think when I get one I will skip the body blushing as that will cover a multitude of booboos. Also, my girls are never naked and I think she looks super in the knitted clothes you put on her.

    2. Hi All
Thanks so much bdwvr nice to here you like Luna to.
I don't mind the picture being used. Yes Luna has some problems but even with them I still like her she is fun to dress and I love her face sculpt. I am a doll artist as well as collector . I make original cloth dolls and have bin doing it for 40 years. I buy a doll because I like her. They don't alway's have to be perfection for me to fall for them sometimes it is the inperfections that makes me want a doll. I understand criticism and I am not makeing light of others opions . This is just how I feel . Their are alot of good things about Luna as well as some bad. Great face wonderful hands lovely feet . The fact that she can share MSD shoes and some clothing is great to. She would make a great caractor doll . After all she is a doll . When she is dressed the boobs don't show the munkey but disapears and all you see is her the lovely curves . We as humans are not all perfectly shaped .
      Hugs

    3. ya, I'm going to use her for Victorian costuming because of those bust-waist-hip curves, which could only be achived on a human with the help of a corset. Not many dolls have that really small waist and those that do are out of my budget...

You are so right yes Luna has the perfict figure for Fictorian costumes . Hope you post pics would love to see.

    5. Winky - I just wanted to say not to worry if Luna isn't to everyone's taste, it shouldn't affect your love for her one little bit. Such a quirky, unique doll isn't going to grab everyone, but she obviously grabbed you, and I agree that such an extreme figure would look great in clothes. Congrats on finding a doll that makes you so happy. <3

    6. Thanks so much Autumnrain . I never worry about others Opions. I always buy just what I like. I have never bin one to follow trends etc. I quess thats why Luna apeals to me so much. Your Kind words are much appreciated though.
      Hugs

    7. Winky, thanks for sharing pics of your girl with us! :D

Luna is a pretty funny looking doll, IMHO. But she's a cute sort of funny looking. ;) I agree, she would look awesome in green or blue with some unusual eyes. Oh noes! It's a BJD alien coming to take over the planet! XD I could totally see her in a Victorian style corset too. She has that tiny waist/squished up boobies look that corsets achieve so well.

She's such an interesting size, and is closer to "big doll" size than the new Rosette dolls are. Hopefully Bobobie will come out with other 50cm bodies too. ^^

    8. Sorry, am I just slow or are those other 50cm Bobobie dolls on the Denver Dolls site new as well?

    9. Only Luna is actually 50cm - they have Lan, Mei, etc listed on the same page but they're 43cm, unless something has changed.

    10. That's how I feel about her as well, and the more I look at her, the more I like her in an odd sort of way. She's one of those dolls that just makes me want to get my hands on her and see what I can do with her.

    11. Mine should me shipped soon so I will see how she looks in my eyes. ^___^ Right now I think she will be irl more prettier than in pictures -like usually. :3 Blushing her of course can change her looks. I will take pictures too when I will get her. :)

I am really exited still, critism will not make me want her less.

I wish she was here already! *___*

I think there is lots of 50cm dolls with small boobs, this one has some more so it's what I have been looking for. :3
I am also really exited to see her kissing looking lips! :)

You cannot make a doll that everyone likes, there is always someone who it will not appeal. I am happy that they did not change her boobs since I have been looking big boobed one for so long.

      I cannot wait! >3<

    12. I am so happy to here their are other Luna's coming cannot wait to see what you all do with your Luna's. I am very happy with my Luna and excited to see more.
      Hugs

    13. Her abs are correct for her proportions- the pic # 3 that Cheshiretiffy posted (yellow suit) shows the six pack in the exact same spot. This doll is being sold in DDE already as well as Bobobie mall- I don't think anyone asked any of us to suggest any "corrections". They are selling her now, and that is how she will come to you. If she isn't what you like don't buy her. It is very presumptuous to tell a doll artist his creation is "too this" or "too that"- it is just rude.

    14. don't worry, me and the others not likeing her wil never pay for her. I think most just feel a bit ' :o' for this doll going into production, as said , the anatomy is off, for a doll with a price over 20 USD I can not accept that all -_- .

No hun, not necessarily rude, its called 'constructive criticism' and most folks not used of being into the art world/ art collage do not seem to cope very well at it.

either way, I am just dissepointed that she went into sales with all the errors she has, I am scared that is will downgrade BBB as I love their sculpts :(

to the owners ; please love your doll, your doll thats what mathers to you !!!!
to the sculpers; please revieuw your knowhow on anatomy and try to keep your references at real humans, do not build on anime, build the anime gently in it.

just my 2 sents, I am not beeing rude, if I am then I'm sorry but I don't mean it rude.

    15. I am a professional artist- I don't mind constructive criticism when I am working on a project- it is necessary with a client of course. On a WIP it is important, but it should be solicited, as well. I just felt some folks were not being constructive (especially in the first few pages of the thread). The doll is done- it has been released. Suggestions will not help any more. I wasn't referring to anything you have said, Spacerogue.

She is nothing like any of the other BBB dolls and is probably not supposed to mimic a realistic body. To me, the abs are in the right place. She is not realistically proportioned, and I am sure she is exactly what the artist intended her to be . Personally I think she is cute- I haven't decided if I am going to get her or not.

    16. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism on a finished piece of work, this would only help the artist improve in the future.

There's a difference between unrealistic and poorly thought out.

    17. Ah, but notice how short the human woman's torso is compared to the doll's. The doll's abs wouldn't [shouldn't] be all bunched up under her ribs like that. They should extend the length of her torso.

And apparently you've totally missed this post.

    18. We should probably suspend any further judgements of lovely Luna, though, until we see some owner pictures. I bet she'll look loads better :D
