1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Bobobie/Resinsoul 14cm and 15cm size dolls discussion part 2

Jul 15, 2012

    1. His hooves are PukiPuki hooves. The Pukifee hooves are the right size for my 1/6 March girl to wear! I actually bought them for him first, but each hoof was the size of his head, and I just could NOT mod the knee joint small enough to fit. The PukiPuki hooves are the right size for the RS and BBB 15cm tinies, once you thicken the top knee joint to fit properly. To DO the mods, I put a layer of plastic wrap in his knee, with a small hole for his elastics. I strung the hooves on to his legs, mixed up the epoxy putty I used (Amazing Sculpt in white, specifically). I pulled the knee apart so I could apply the putty, and then let the pieces pull back together so that the putty IN the knee would fit the socket properly, then smoothed everything out into shape, and let the putty cure. This was still a little rough, and left fingerprints in the mods (just the nature of the putty) but once things were fully cured I used fine grit sandpaper, then a nail buffer, to refine and smooth everything out. Really, for all that it takes a little time and work, it was one of the easiest mods I've done so far!

And thank you for he compliments on what I had him looking like! His markings then were made with red temporary tattoos. I took a bunch of tribal ones, and cut them apart, then re-arranged them to get the look I wanted from them and applied them to him. But in the end, the pink resin was just too 'soft' a base. I considered dying him. Either a red, or black, and re-doing him, but decided I'd be better off moving him on, then buying another doll in the red resin...or the new dark grey. Most likely the red.

For Tumnus, it wouldn't he too hard to darken his face a little more, I don't think. But you're right, wait until you have a wig for him! A wig can change everything about how a face-up looks! And, for pants, have you thought about trying to make him some 'wrap pants'? They're really fun and easy to make, and would work beautifully around his hooves! This is one of the tutorials I refer to when I can't quite remember how to make them (hey, I don't always wait until I'm fully awake to sew!) http://laupre.wordpress.com/2008/06/29/easy-breezy-wrap-pants-tutorial/ It's a 'for humans' tutorial, but since the pants are made entirely off measurements, and are so simple, it's easy to adapt it to even tiny dollies!

And I totally stand by how much I love Tumnus! You've made him absolutely adorable! My husband agrees. And so do several of my local collectors. *totally had to show them just how cute 'her' little Elfkin has become with you as his owner, so linked to your photos of him to them*

    2. Well after lurking around here for a while, I finally ordered a little one. I kind of wanted a little green skin elfkin to be a little goblin. But someone posted 2 elfkins for sale and I snapped up the normal skin female one. I haven't decided exactly what to do with her. I'm considering giving her a full blush of a greenish brown to be a little goblin. Or I considered calling her a young elf or just a gnome. Either way she's going to be Danifae's slave...er I mean companion. Still haven't thought of a name for her. Kind of depends on what race I go with. If she's a goblin I was thinking maybe Gobby, kind of a mix of Gabby and Goblin but we'll see lol. She ships out monday so that means she'll be here sometime next week. I'm pretty stoked. I've got 2 other dolls on layaway so this little one will hold me over til they get here.

Edit: Oh and if you're still looking for a little red elfkin boy, the other elfkin the lady was selling was just that. 65+shipping, is cheaper than you can buy him from DDE/JS/BBB

    3. It's amazing seeing how Tumnus has changed, he looks so awesome as a little demon, and his faceup now is just beautiful :D

Hotaru and I went visiting today, she also helped me knit a sweater and work out a pattern for some Elfkin size shorts.
Though now that someone mentioned Wrap pants, I love me some "Thai fisherman pants" all summer long... and wonder why I've never made something
like them in dolly sizes! I guess that'll be a project for tomorrow.

    5. Can anyone tell me the type of head cap that comes on a RS Yu? Is it magnet or something else? Thanks.

Hotaru rocking green and blue! she helped make the sweater and the shorts yesterday.
(drafted the pattern for the shorts, and this first really successful pair are version 3)

Nice thing about working in this size is how little material is needed... the yarn is left over from a bigger project.
and the pants a scrap of dollar store tea towel from my "muslins" bin. (for testing patterns, and I like using tea towels because
the ones from the dollar store are cheap enough, but also nice colors, so if the test turns out well, it's a finished item: Yay!)
Today there's a tan pair of shorts about 2/3 finished that will be finished today. We're having fun watching recorded TV (_Lost Girl_, and _The Walking Dead_ and eagerly awaiting more _Dr Who_)
and Netflicks (_Queen Seondeuk_) while working on Hotaru size projects.

    7. Hello, everyone!
I've been absent from this site for a while and I've decided to come back.
Right now I'm trying to re-introduce myself on all the old threads I used to reply to every now and then.

I'm going to take pictures of Adaleize later, so I'll post some for you guys then.

I think I want another of these cute, tiny dolls, but I haven't quite made my mind up yet.

    8. I was scouting clothes for my incoming elfkin girl and came across these little outfits for dolls called cutie pops. Anyone tried these?

    9. I just got a little girl elfkin, but I am having trouble removing the head- Do I need to take out the s-hook to do so?

    10. Yes, BBB/RS tinies have circular holes instead of slits like most general BJD's. So to take their heads off, you generally have to remove the s-hook. I've taken an x-acto knife and cut Kiwi's head so that the s-hook would fit through. If you do this, you'll need to make a rest for the s-hook inside the head with epoxy. It's actually not very difficult to do at all.

    11. I was going to wait a bit longer before re asking my question, but I just ordered my Resinsoul Yu so I'm even more curious now. What type of headcaps come on these dolls? Magnetic or just a resin loop. Also if anyone could point out a good information thread on giving this little doll hooves I'd appreciate it. I'd need to know where the best place to buy them would be for a close fit and instructions on how to modify them if needed. All help is appreciated :)

    12. Yu's headcap is magnetic, but my Elfkin's head didn't have a magnet or a loop--the headcap just kind of slips on (and off. all the time)

    13. Aronzo: Thank you. I'm glad I won't have to fight with the head cap. Sorry about your Elfkin's head. I hope you find a good fix.

    14. unless there's some small version of the cutie pops, I think their standard size is going to be too big for the Elfkins... they might fit someone Yo-size?

    15. I'll probably just sculpt a little magnet holder on both pieces of her head and then glue in the magnets (or something like that) I like doing that sort of thing with my dolls so even if it doesn't work out, it'll be a fun experiment.

    16. Aronzo: I've only got one doll so far and I've never really done anything close to modding with him. I'm too scared to do so really. Your solution sounds good though and I hope it works out.

    17. trinlayk, I love Hotaru's outfits, they are so adorable! :)

    18. I believe I saw a post somewhere that Lati Yellow shoes will work for a RS Yu with socks, but I just want to double check if this is correct before I purchase a pair of shoes and they're too big. I'm also curious about Lati Yellow wigs. Are they way too big for Yu; I've found one I really like, but it is for a Lati Yellow.

    19. thank you! she's got good taste! (and access to everything that fits the Pukifee as well)

    20. Well I didn't see the response so i took a risk on the cutie pops clothes. The shirt is just about perfect. The pants are way too long but I might hem them. The butt isn't quite big enough but I might add some velcro to it to make it close.

And I guess it's worth it to mention that my little elfkin girl is here. I blushed her from head to toe in a mottled green color and restrung her with thicker elastic. I wasn't quite pleased with the name Gobby/Gobbie. Didn't sound feminine enough. I've decided tentatively to call her Trixie or Tricksie. I'll try and put up some pictures once I get her a wig and something to wear besides this sad little pink sock lol. She's just so adorable. And sooo small lol.
