Bonding and YOU.

First, congratulations Barbara!

I don't think it's strange not to bond with a doll immediately. Some dolls, like my Lucas, I bonded to very slowly and gradually. I think it really helps to play with them - to try different styles of clothes or different eyes and wigs.

Taking pictures always helps me. It's like your private time with them, where you can interact. (Okay, maybe that sounds crazy.) But that's when I feel closest to my guys - when we're playing. I can "hear" their voices, and bits of their stories. Or sometimes, we just crack jokes and have fun.

It could also be that you had an idea of him, and he's really someone else - someone you have to get to know. ^_^

Exactly! That's how I felt with my Lucas - he was like a rock star or something, and I admired him, and was almost afraid of him too! But spending time with him, playing with him got us over it!

 

no way to know whether or not this boy is right for you or whether you will ever bond with him...

but my guess is that it has nothing to do with him being "new" or "fcs"...

My two FCS kids, I absolutely adore, and really liked them the moment I got them. Some dolls you dont like at first though, and sometimes they grow on you. the question is whether YOU like the doll or not.

I agree with Janne, that dressing and playing with the doll, helps to "get to know" them.

I hope I will have the chance to take some pics of him during this weekend, so that I can show him to you ASAP.

BTW, I have re-strung him myself, and attached his eyes myself, and already tried several different wigs on him...
And I'm planning to get him several other wigs and eyes as soon as I have the possibility.
As far as his outfits are concerned, I truly don't know what he would look best in.
Maybe EGA? Or something casual?
His face up is very natural, so I think he'll look good in almost every kind of clothes...
But he doesn't tell me what kinds of clothes he prefers!
In other words, I keep on trying to imagine him wearing this or that outfit, and still am not sure about getting it for him or not...

 

I was wondering what his name was? a lot of personality can come from a name alone and perhaps that might help you with figuring out what kind of clothes he likes.. maybe he's not the type to mind what you put him in.. if he's shy maybe he just wants to make you happy by wearing everything you get him

His name is Oliver Cedric (but maybe I'll call him just "Sandy" because of his hair color). I have given him that name because I thought it sounded very Victorian/Edwardian, you see ^_^
I was planning to make him a "Little Lord" or something... ops:
But now I'm not too sure about that...
Well... I truly think maybe he's shy and doesn't want to disappoint me, and that's why he doesn't speak to me yet: maybe he's just afraid to say the wrong things and so to disappoint me, who knows?

 

it's a lovely name and it does sound like a little Lord. however even lords can be shy ^_^

maybe he is also very polite because he is a Lord and is unsure of how to greet the Lady of the house ^^

Sandy is a sweet nickname! I like it alot! It seems to fit him too. Like, the lord of the house who has such a formal name is actually shy! So he uses a more casual nickname that iss just like his personality!

I started writing imaginary dialogues with Caro months before he arrived...this is a little like what E.G-san suggested above (let the tenshi talk to him), but you can do this just the two of you.

Caro: If he's shy, ask him what his favorite poem is. Or what colors he likes. If you're nice about his answer, maybe he'll come out of his shell.

GJ: I've decided to start building scrap-folders for all of my dollies...so when I see something in a magazine, or I find something, or I hear something that reminds me of one of the boys, I can clip it or make a note or take a photo and stick it in the folder.

Simon: Take him to the movies. ^^

Caro: If you don't want to literally take him out of the house, go to a movie or a store or something by yourself, but bring him with you in your mind. It's better not to have other friends along for this. Sort of like an "artist date" with your tenshi. I do it a lot with green_judy. (She has weird taste in stores, though. And too many bookstores! 8-P)

Your little guy sounds to be more of a "Young Master", than a "little Lord", does that make sence? Like, I picture him, quiet, shy, but he lives in a mansion, has a hundred servants who love him, and has everything he could ever want....except you.
He was so lonely, playing ball by himslef, drawing pictures for no one, walking around the corridors of his mansion. All his servants love him immensly, but couldn't take any time to get involved with him, and all he really wanted was someone to love him for who he really was.

Lotsa bonding, sewing for him, and cuddling, and everything. I notice that with one of my dolls too, he's such an oddball, that if I don't regularly bond, I'm very detached. (Then again he wasn't mine to begin with, and his name, personality, etc. came with him)

But after I cuddle and stuff, I find I just fine with him again. ^___^
