I said I would not have eyes rolling around; I got 3 pairs,

I said I would wait to get my complete BJD; I bought a head that as nothing to do with it,

I said I would not have a floating head... see above, I bought a head O____o

But I will make it a stand so It will not look completely like it is floating XD

1. I told myself I would only have one. I currently have three with one on the way and six more that I want.

2. I would never buy expensive clothing from Mio or 4D. I have two outfits from 4D and a pait of jeans from Mio.

3. I refuse to buy a doll on my credit card, I've still stuck to this one.

4. I would never own a MSD or tiny and now I own both.

4. I would never spend more than $600 for a doll and three of my dolls cost more than that. And I'm saving up for a FCS Volks that'll be about $1,300 dollars.

 

1. Never have more than one doll. Two months after getting my first, I ordered my second.
2. Never buy made clothes, that I'd sew them all myself. I've now ordered $100US of doll shirts and coats, this month, in the current economic climate. I guess I'm doing my bit to keep the world economy going?
3. Wouldn't have ANY random eyes floating around, that I'd only have enough eyes for the number of doll eyesockets I have available to me. I have four pairs of eyes sitting in a little plastic drawer, and it will be five as soon as I have the energy to decide on a new pair of eyes for my second doll...
4. That I wouldn't be one of those people who gets attached to their dolls. Totally failed at that one and missed them both while I was away for a week.

 

Hmmm. similar to others

1. I'd never pay that for a doll. *cough* *cough* Soom monthly *cough*
2. never get dublicates... still haven't, but I have plans. "Does it count if they are not the same skin tone?"
3. Never have tinies. A puki and littlefee later. (more on layaway)
3b. Stick to a size and maybe a special one on a different size. All msds and one sd for sewing. That didn't last long. Fairyland is evil.
4. The dolls must be able to share eyes and wigs. With maybe one or two for "try ons". 3 boxes of eyes 8-20mm, more on order, and large Ikea bin of wigs 6-7 to 9-10 later.
4b. Wigs - can't have more than 1 in the same color in the same size. Guys can't share the long wavy hair with the girls. A couple of blondes and reds later.
5. I won't limit myself in quantity of dolls, but it must remain reasonable. That was when I had 2. I think I've gotten to the "OMG! what happened?" stage.
6. Floating heads don't count if I already own a body that they can share. Uhuh, right. Who knows where this is going? That was the plan. Now I plan on ordering 1 body (2 heads each can share instead of 4 heads sharing 1) and I have more heads on order/in planning that will need a special body. Gotta match resin and size. right?
7. I never made restrictions about clothes. Which is good as I haven't gotten into that yet. I'm just happy everyone isn't naked at this point. Hey, some of them don't have bare feet. This will most likely be the area that I will slaughter in 2009.
8. No buying of fabric until I use the boxes I already have. Yah, right. Anyone who sews anything (quilts, clothes, stuffed animals, plushes, pincushions, jewelry) knows that each project just NEEDS that one color/pattern/special fibre that you don't have. And then sales.
9. no more dolls for 2009. RIGHT. Can anyone guess how long this will last?
10. I will sell anything that I'm not using, doesn't fit, decided that its not to taste.
I've sold some stuff. Its just so hard to sell eyes and wigs. I mean, the one I just sold could end up being the perfect one for a new doll that I'm not buying.
11. Everyone will have a face. - still working on this one. It doesn't help that I buy blank dolls/heads.
12. Create a plan. okay did that. Stick to plan. Well, does it count if I just rewrite the plan to accommodate the newbies/stuff.
13. not get "odd" and think of them as having personalities or traits. Uhuh. right. I got a camera (used, saved money, right?) just so I could take photos of their non-existent lives.
14. Do not buy more rement. no problem. All my money goes to the dollies now. Jst ignore the fact I have to go to the PO to pick up a package from HK with rement in it. Okay Bandai/Megahouse.
15. I never thought it but... never get a minimee. I mean WHY would I? *cough* my signature.... nero, my boy, you've made me break a rule that I never thought I'd have to make.

2. Would only buy full dolls because I thought having parts was a waste of money... I now have like 5 floating heads.

3. I would never have a tiny. .....................LOL

3. Never pay xxxx.xx amount for a doll.. *sigh* Somehow just knew that one wouldn't work.

I'm sure there were so much more but this is what I do remember. Ugh. I am so disgusted at myself.

 

- Buy girls (Got an Onyx + bidding on another girl)
- Spend more than 800$ (2 Soom MDs)
- Buy a Volks (Sch A on the way and I really want a Tohya)
- Buy a whiteskin (Onyx)
- Get more than 6 (7 and incoming)
- Buy floating heads (Will have 3 in a bit)
- Buy more than one size (60 to 70cm and none of the bastards fit eachother clothes well)

 

I never said I'd only have one - I'd heard that it was sort of silly saying that before I had my first, so that was never an issue... I DID say I'd never get a doll under 60cm's... yeah... currently waiting on a LittleFee Shiwoo... ^^'

I will not buy a doll over 1000 dollars
Yesterday I failed by buying a soom heliot. Although it is because I have ordered his outfit as well (without it, he would be around 900 dollars), it still feels like breaking my rule.

I will not buy an outfit that costs more than 50 dollars
Failed.. Soom Heliot's outfit costs 160 dollars.

When I buy a doll, I will think about it for a while before rushing and ordering it
Yesterday I saw Soom's pictures and ordered the doll...

And after I broke my "not bigger than 60cm"-rule:
I won't buy dolls higher than 70 cm
And a Soom Mecha Angel is on my to buy list...

I will not buy second hand dolls
I said this because most second hands aren't much lower than company dolls, and I preferred company dolls because they were totally fresh/new/special made for me.
And soon I will pay off my first second hand doll.

I won't buy too many dolls at the same time, because I want enough time to bond with everyone before the next one is coming up
Failed. 13 Dec, ordered angel elf soo and body for lilliya, week later a peakswoods goldie on hold for me, and yesterday ordered soom Heliot (but he is on layaway, so it'll take a while before he arrives)

Only buy dolls for who I have a character in mind
Peakswoods Goldie and Soom Heliot were ordered/bought before I had a character for them, but only because they were so pretty. But I do have a character for them both now.

No dolls of the same sculpt
I want to buy 2 soony's in future for twins, and I do have a lu-wen normal and vampire, a feeple ashley normal and vampire, dark elf soo, angel elf soo, and dark elf soo vampire who are all almost the same sculpt.

 

Things I told myself or promised when I first ordered a BJD:
1) I said no more than one or two dolls would ever be needed...I have 4 and one on the way...
2) I said I would not like a msd or smaller and would avoid those...I have a Resinsoul Mei, AOD MSD and on the way is LittleFee, I LOVE those little guys!
3) I said I would never need to spend more than $50 on outfits ... sighs.. not possible!!
4) I said my Mei would never wear shoes and was cuter bald.... boots and a wig are on the way
5) I said I didn't need extra wigs/eyes/clothing... I have more than enough for another few dolls!!
6) I said my dolls didn't have characters they were just dolls... they definately DO!!
7) I said I would stop buying dolls once I had my main characters.... I still look for more!!
8) I said dolls didn't have history/stories to tell... mine have a history over 4 pages long and still growing when I can add to it
9) I just said I wouldn't buy another doll after my LF Shiwoo order.... I'm already dreaming of 90cm Primo or a couple set I saw, actually 2 couples sets, one msd set and one sd set.. sighs....
10) I said I'd keep my sd's in their coffin carrier to keep them safe if I wasn't playing with them... they've been out and about for months!
11) I said I'd never let the cat near my dolls.... she loves looking at them if they're near me and will sniff them and even rub against Kadin's legs if he's got them near her, I gave up keeping those 2 apart
12) I said my dolls were dolls, not family, not alive.... they are part of our family and I treat them as if they're alive alot of the time.
There's bound to be much more but who can remember all the stuff they said?

 

1) I said I'd never buy anything smaller then 50cm. Now I have a list of fairyland pukis and LittleFee I want.

2) I said I'd never buy any girl dolls. Apart from four boys on my list, girls totally take over it.

3) I said I'd never buy a floating head. I've just got one on layaway.

 

I said I'd never have a vampire doll - I have a vampire head coming to practice faceups on. (Though I bought it partly because I figured I'd not get attached to it and have to find it a body of its own.)

I said I'd never take a doll out shopping - guess where Riddick went last night with my sister and I? 3 stores, lots of strange looks, but only one person asked (she was politely curious).

 

1. I'd never have more then three. (I've four already - and loads more planned)
2. No floating wigs/eyes (Uh... yeah)
3. Never own any Volks dolls (That died the moment I saw Ju Yon XD)
4. Never spend more than 30 on clothes (This lasted all of oh, a month? XD)
5. No complicated back stories (I'm failing miserably on this)

 

Why are BJD's like LAY'S POTATOE CHIPS???? ... cause nobody can have just one. Guilty as charged ...

SMALL (MSD) ONLY ... okay 1 MSD is just fine ... my character in a story.
NO LARGE DOLLS ... Oh looky there is an SD waiting to be adopted ... well that didn't last long, bout 2 months and he is happily sitting at home in his easy chair watching the house while I gone.

NO MORE LARGE DOLLS ...a gift for me, 50cm girl? Oh you should have...I'll take her. (runs off hugging doll) We now number 3...1 MSD size and 2 SD or so sizes.

NOT PAYING MORE FOR THEIR CLOTHES THAN MINE...Did you see that adorable little elf costume ... it's only $250.00. I'll take it.

NO SUNLIGHT ... did you see the pix of my baby girl riding her horse in the field on the 1st day of summer. 92 degrees and beautiful weather.

The only rule I can say for doll owners is like the Sean Connery rule... NEVER SAY NEVER !!!
And for those who do and end up having to eat their words... amaretto cream sure makes them more flavorful and tasty.

Sell the doll clothes you make so you won't be poor: I'm working on it...I can go without lunch <.<

2-3 at most: I want like...5 for sure, give or take a doll or two ^^;;;

Don't spend more for their clothes than your own: I'm a dedicated clearance shopper...and that's only if I need something >.>;; I'm sure Kori's outfit he's wearing cost more than 2 of mine...

I'm fairly sure there is more...I'm prolly just forgetting them xD I'm sure I'll be back to this thread in no time.

 

I said I would only get 1 - that lasted for about a month!

I said that I would only buy one size so that everything would fit everyone... yeah, that lasted a long time too :P

I said I wouldn't remove my doll's head unless it was for restringing... well, unless you count the Cutie Delf's heads falling off when I changed their wigs (because I didn't know about the switch in their heads), I have actually kept this one.

I said I wouldn't change their eyes... well, I didn't like Soah's eyes, so I ended up changing them. I also needed eyes for my Puki Pukisha winking faces (although technically that's not "changing" because they had no eyes to begin with!) I also changed the position of a few doll's eyes, because I wanted them to look in a different direction

I said I wouldn't repaint them, and I haven't.

I think that's about it.

 

I swore my first doll was gonna be an SD.
(I ended up with an msd mo-2)

I told my self my doll would stay in my room in a safe corner.
(ever since I got him I don't think I go out without him. o.e;; I think my arms starting
to develop a bit more muscle cause of him. . .)

Would never waste much money on him.
(Ultra fail! he has more clothes than I do! D8)

 

1. Never have any floating heads. --broken. I'm on a GO list for a Balthier head and I won't have money to buy him a body for a long time...

2. Oh, I don't need more than two... --I've got a list of several dolls (about five) that I want/plan on getting for which I already have characters set...
