"Breaking the Mold" or, loving what you thought you wouldn't.

Luts dolls. after seeing one in real life, major decision change.

also, SD sized dolls. i vowed i'd never have them. BUT NOW I DO. GAHHHH!

i also insisted i would not buy anymore dolls until i had finished clothing and modding those i already have. big no-no.

 

Things I didn't want:
An SD (I thought they were too big)
A Tiny (I was afraid I'd loose them)
Anything over the MSD Range (Again, thought they were too big.)

Now what's changed:
-I have a 70cm and think they are grand!
-I want a Littlefee Shiwoo badly now...XD
-I wouldn't mind having a few 60cm's and more 70's. :3

 

It's funny how things go. XD

BJD Things I Never Wanted (and now have or want):
- Tinies (I have two, and two more about to be purchased XD)
- A floating head (I had one for a while, I have another now, I'm planning on at least one more XD)
- A girl before I "got all my boys" (I also want one now, before I get all my boys)
- Tan dolls (I didn't want to deal with the resin issues, now I plan to get two light ones and want a dark tan too! )

 

Then (No, nope, nada):
A tiny
A real tiny (a puki)
More than three or four
Floating heads
An anthro

Now (yes, yep, give in to the inevitable):
Now have two complete, with two on the way & one on layaway
Saving for Chuchu. AND Darjeeling. Puki-itis strikes again!

Have two, with another on the way.
One of the incoming dolls & one of the heads is anthro. I also plan on at least one more.

 

1] No floating heads.
2] No tinies.
3] No tiny tinies. [lol, puki]
4] No SDs.
5] No more than five.

Now?
1] I have a floating head on the way. [Albeit the Wintery head, but still :P]
2] The next doll I want is a DOB Libra.
3] After Libra, I want a Puki Cupid.
4] I`m debating on getting a Soom Gena and maybe a Laon. [Although I`m not so sure on Laon]
5] If I get all those dolls above [Including my ordered boy] That brings me up to five, and I`m sure I`ll be able to want some more. Argh. xD

 

Will not get more than one.. okay, not more than two then! (I now have four)
Will not buy a doll with eyes bigger then 16mm (Now I have one with 20mm and want a few more with big eyes)
Will not get a luts/CP- especially no Els (Now I have one luts doll and am planning to get an El along with some other CP dolls)
Will not buy a doll unless I have planned it for at least a month and have saved the money in a "doll-fund"(Thank you Dollshe -_- I bought my Husky the day after I found out he would be discontinued with money that was NOT for dolls)
Will not get a non-human doll other than an elf(Centaur! ..another rule may get broken)
Most importantly.. will not become a fangirl who says "awww" at pukis or gets exited when she sees a new doll of her favourites (well, I never thought I could make that sound but.. some of you guys just have such pretty dolls)

 

I haven't had many restrictions... I think.

-no tiny tinies
-no dolls with giant eyes O.O
-don't spend over $30 on eyes
-no white skinned dolls
-no anthro dolls
-make all clothes and face-ups myself
-no Volks dolls (too expensive)

I'm happy to say I've kept to them all...well except the last one...but yeah.
There are a lot of Volks dolls I like...but they all seem to be limited...

1) Buy just a head
2) Own a MSD
3) Own a SD
4) Own an anthro
5) Own any BJD with pale/white skin
6) Spend $30 on one pair of shoes
7) Buy dolly clothing worth over $100

I've broken all of these but owning an anthro and owning any BJD with pale/white skin. ;3 This could always change though. I don't like to limit myself because my tastes constantly evolve and I feel like a lot of people are the same way. (I never, ever thought I would own anything more than Lati Yellow dolls/tinies and now I adore my MSD and SD girls.)

 

Broke the mold by sticking with BJDs for so long. Usually I start a hobby and get bored after a few months. Then I was only going to have one pretty Lolita girl, then got another girl, then got a boy , then another doll, now yet another is incoming. I threw out the mold long ago.

 

xD My restriction list changes on an almost daily baises...but goes something like this:

1) No more than two (have three with 3 more for sure coming)
2) First doll I'll buy with faceup, the rest I'll do myself (all three came with faceup, wiped the girls and am sending her off to have someone else do it xD)
3) I'll make all their clothes myself by learning to handsew (yeah...I made boxers and 2 wigs, the rest I bought)
4) No more than five..(heh, so far my 'must-have' list brings me up to 9)
5) No tinies of any kind (doin' good so far...but I'm falling for pongpong. alskdfsfjoyface >w<)
6) Nothing smaller than SD (I really really want an MSD T^T)
7) Equal number of boys and girls (mmm, probably wont happen. I have more boys planned/coming than girls, but we'll see)
8) No dolls with tiny noses or huge noses (still don't like tiny noses, but now I love huge noses like Jace and Saint. 3)
9) No impulse buying!!!! (FAIL! Two of my dolls are impulse buys! xDD I'd never even heard of their molds/companies until after I bought them. xDDD)

Yeah. I'm on the road to failure. Happy failure, but still failure. xD

 

I haven't truly broken mine due to financial holdbacks, but mentally? Definitely broke a large majority.

Want an SD; simply too big and too expensive: But with my DoC Homme Ivan came a gift DoT Lahoo head...what else to do but get a face up and start saving for a body? And THEN I fell in love with DIM Lloyd. So I'm gonna buy his head soon. Yup, I'm royally screwed there.

Like Hounds; they looked clunky, just plain funky and were all angles: WELL, where do I start. I forget who's it was and which Hound mold, but she had customised him and he looked like Leon from Kingdom Hearts 2 (to me, at least) and I fell in love and now I love them all. BUT I don't know where to buy them! Anyone know?

Buy a Head with no face up; I'd have to do it myself, too much work: Now I'm really excited at the idea of doing face ups and I'll be buying some less expensive heads and Lloyd's head to try my works.

My others I haven't broken, though.

No girls: Simply haven't seen any I'd want. Plenty of gorgeous ladies, but none that I ever have the urge to buy.

No Volks: Personally the molds have never really appealed to me.

I really don't have many restrictions. I do need to learn how to sew though. Undies at least...The boys need undies! xD;;;

 

I had one HUGE restriction...I never thought I'd own a BJD at all. Then I decided on one. A boy...but no SDs. Now I have one...and of course he's an SD! And I plan on getting what KayKay_boom calls a 'clunky, funky, angular' Hound....even though I thought the same thing at first!

I never wanted a tiny. My puki was my first doll.
I thought I'd never want White Skin. My BBB Mei is WS.
I never wanted a BBB. My dream girl ended up being a BBB.
No more than one. Have two.

I have never said never, I know myself too well to do that.
However, I can't see myself ever getting into boy dolls, simply because I like girls better, and can only afford so much!

My first thing was:
BJDs? Like Dolls for grown ups? That's weird! Those people are weird! Those dolls are creepy! Nooooo!!!

Then:
OOOooooohhhhh!!!! Lookit! The prettyness!! And look at all the little clothes!...They're better dressed then me....*grabby hands* I Wannit!!!!

Finally:
I'll never get one! They're too expensive!! All that for a doll?!! NOOOooooo!! *sob*

Then I thought: I'll wait like a year before I spend that kind of money again....About 12 weeks later, I've fully paid for my most epensive doll ever, and am desperately trying to consider a floating head. Oh yeah, and my first boy hasn't arrived yet. Going to be another week at least. *shakes head*

Any doll smaller then 40cm: I NEED to have all the Custom House Little Juniors

Girls as much as boys: I've seen at least two that I MUST HAVE, and would probably buy before a few of my boys. Maybe.

Luts: I just spotted a limited Senior Delf Cian- he. is. gorgeous.

Dollstown: I want Mui, Estella, and Daisy as boys in tan.

Muscular tough looking bodies: *shakes head and points to dollstown.*

Limiteds: There's at least 3 that I want desperately. DoD Delphine anyone??

Masculine looking boys: Lati Doll Red line.... *dribbles on grabby hands*

Not bad for only three months in the hobby eh?

 

i thought i'd never be interested in any kind of anthro/animal dolls.

but recently i fell in love with pipos bingo and mango and i want one so much i might buy one soon.

 

i didn't think id ever love a B&G Sapphira or Afra because i thought they had strange mouths but now that i have seen owner pics i really want one =] and junkey spot being so close does NOT help!

i also thought I'd never want a tiny (like puki sized) but i really want one now that i have seen some of the Christmas contest pictures =]

and in the very beginning i didn't think I'd ever want any girl dolls but now i want a girl for every boy i get lol.

edit: just broke another one. i didn't think i would want a anthro doll but now that pipos has that evil cat im considering getting him and a rabbit (to make an evil roadkill rabbit from) because they would make good pets for a vampire lol
