"Breaking the Mold" or, loving what you thought you wouldn't.

never:

Never:

1. Own more than 2
2. Have a boy with long hair
3. Buy more than 2 sets of clothing for each doll
4. Have extra pairs of eyes
5. Buy a Volks
6. Buy from DoA Marketplace (Paranoid...)
7. Have a WS doll
8. Buy a doll by the piece (Head and body)
9. Buy a Bobobie

And now (in conjunction to the list above):

1. Own 4 and counting...
2. Not yet, but Johann's next on my list of dollies to get--and he has long hair.
3. If I had kept to my word--with the money I've spent on clothing, I could have bought two more dolls instead.
4. I've got a small box full of eyes...
5. Broke this vow when I bought a YoSD, and now I'm breaking it again by buying an FCS MSD.
6. I buy through DoA more than other places.
7. Tanya's a WS and she's awesome.
8. Hikaru's the only doll who's not a hybrid.
9. The MSD Espree caught my eye. Hook, line, and sinker...

 

BJD Things I Thought I'd Never Get/Have
1. A BJD! - I thought they were way too expensive for my taste.
2. An SD - They were WAY TOO BIG for me.
3. More than one doll - Money, money, money.

The Reality Of Today
1. I have three. Four, if you count my BBB Sprite head.
2. I CRAVE a CP Shiwoo.
3. So, when can I buy another one?

 

1) A tiny (and now Derrik is here and I love him...)
2) Another 70cm (And he's here today. >.< )
3) A girl... (well, until I buy the one for my boyfriend... so technically none for me.)

Oh and the one about me only ever making clothes for my dolls, who are now Luts/Sadol clothing Addicts

 

I'm amazed at how well I've kept to these... but since I've only been in the hobby for a year, I guess it's hardly that surprising ^^;

-Nothing bigger than 45cm: I keep telling myself that they're too big and too expensive.
(I'm keep oggling Akando AND Chiron)

-No Limited dolls: Again too expensive, for parts I don't need, will never use, and clothes that my doll will never wear.
(my first doll was a Puki Cupid Full Set)

-No anthro's: I thought they were a little bizarre and not for me.
(Pipos new cheshire-kitty has sparked my interest)

-No Volks dolls: Again, too expensive and 'not for me'.
(I'm really wanting a YO-sd Ayumu)

-No floating heads...
(I've still kept to this one...)

Everything my doll wears will be made by me.
(So far, I'm sticking this one too pretty well)

Fortunately my current finances are preventing me from doing much in the way of doll-buying, so my resin-kiddies have to make-do with hand made things ^^;

6. None bigger than 60cm (since failed twice)

7. No boys in girl's clothing. Rupert finally came out in his crossdressing.

#5 has also been failed even more times over now.

 

While I may not be an official doll owner yet, I have already begun breaking my own rules during my months of planning and revising said plans and day dreaming and waiting and wishing:

Only two (My wishlist has grown to 5, 3 of which I am getting for sure and the other 2 I am thinking about.)

Only boys (DZ Cherry managed to sneak in there.)

Only MSD sized or at least nothing over 60 (After being the one to restring, re-face up, and play Daddy to MitsukiKouyama's Barron- she's Mommy, of course- I want a big boy of my own D: A bigger boy actually.)

No doll over 500$ (lawl)

No tiny dolls (Puki Chi Chi disappears and reappears on my wishlist now and then. My friend says she'll disown me if I get a puki though xD )

No cross dressers (So hard when you want a Shiwoo ... )

No grey skin (Chiron, pls :3 )

No doll until I get a job (Not sure if that counts, but its the only thing I've managed to stick to so far, but that might change once I get my first paycheck or two after I get to finally start my new job, yay )


There are other things, like no white skin, no vampires, no very anime-like dolls, no dolls based off existing characters that are not my own, no outfits over 60$, no major mods, and no anthro-like dolls. Luckily nothing in those categories have caught my eye (yet). But we'll see what happens when I finally start collecting and my fingers get itchy for new resin.

I haven't got mine yet, but I have some big DO NOT WANT's.

DO NOT WANT!:

*Girl dolls - the vapid smiles and too-sweet expressions make me grind my teeth in frustration. Even darker make up just makes them look sweet and sad and sweet makes my jaw ache.

*Anything smaller than MSD - It would get lost in my room, honest to god. Plus my puppy might try and eat it.

*Anything bigger than MSD - No place to put something that big! o-o;

*more than two possibly three dolls if I get itchy. - I am barely affording one, hmming over getting a second and a third is such a remote possibility that I doubt I'll ever get that far.

*Spending more than $450 on a single doll fullset. I'm only going to spend about $350 or so on my first and I refuse to spend some obscene ammount of money like 800 to 1000 USD on a doll. I just don't want ANYTHING that darned bad. >> I cringed at buying an 850 dollar LAPTOP!

*FLH (Floating Head Syndrome). I can handle dolls that stare, I can put a pretty cloth over them if it REALLY gets too me, but decapitated heads freak me out. >>;

*Sleeping/Dreaming dolls. You can't change the expression by changing the eyes or the tilt of them when there ARE NO EYES. It seems limiting and very boring too me. If I want them to sleep, I'll make them a little sleeping mask to wear.

I think thats about it. XD I'm picky, I know, but I have REASONS darnit!

 

Fantasy:

1. "All I want is an army of Volks Tokyo Boys-- so that should stop me at, what, 4 dolls? 6, if I get the second-version rereleases."
2. "No tinies."
3. "No babies, no angels, and no creepy goddamn blind unborn fetuses!"
4. "No 70cms-- that'd be make too many different sizes to shop for."
5. "Wow, those Mecha Angels are so cool-looking, but I don't want an 80 cm doll. That's just silly tall."
6. "I don't think I want any tan dolls. They sound too hard to care for."
7. "All those elfy fantasy dolls and wishful animal body-parts... meh."
8. "Boy dolls only."

Reality:

1. 22 dolls.
2. 2 tinies.
3. Madly in thrall to fetal Rei-Tenshi who made himself at home without asking me first.
4. Now have one 70cm-- but more glaringly, now have to shop for 9 different dizes of clothing. Any ideas of uniformity have gone toiletward.
5. Have Mecha Angel, will travel.
6. Sub-clan of 5 tawny-skinned beauties, and inability to get enough of them.
7. Biggest shelf in house now occupied by gigantic 81-cm merman, complete with blue frosted body-blushing, webbed hands, glittery tail-fluke, ocean-elf ears, and finned arms.
8. ....OK, it's still boy dolls only. That one stays.

 

Oh I have a good one to add!
I will not spend more then $500 buying one doll. Hello again Unoa hybrid >.<
I will not buy clothes I can make! I've kept to this actually... That love for sewing has a use!

I never thought I'd LIKE an animal/anthro doll at ALL, but when I saw Princess of Snow White (http://www.kondoll.com/ProductList.aspx?prid=763) she TOTALLY charmed me! I could see having such an adorable and well-dressed animal in my future collection!

NO ANTHRO DOLLS. EVAR. >> It scares me. They're too much critter to be on two legs and have hands. I can handle ears and tails, but the rest has to look human or it's too much like a critter. No muzzles instead of faces please god.

me? Two, actually. I didn't like Lady Saiyuki's Hanyuu when I first saw her, but now I have my Cossette and a Hanyou named Mahdis. Cute little bugger grew on me ^^;.
