1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

"Breaking the Mold" or, loving what you thought you wouldn't.

Mar 8, 2008

    1. I never thought I would be interested in a tiny but now I'm considering getting one. I keep thinking how much fun it would be to have a cute little doll to dress up with lace and ribbions-- and they hardly take up any space!

    2. Things I thought I would never like to own:

More than one doll - Now I have 4.
A vinyl doll - My first doll was a Dollfie Dream and I LOVE her.
      SOOM Namu - currently saving...
More than 1 girl - Own 2 by now.
      Getting unplanned dolls - I couldn't resist ^^'''
Dolls from another company than Volks - Now I own one Volks, one B&G, a DZ and a D.I.M...
      Different sized dolls - DZ Yuu is 70cm, D.I.M Silf 14cm... .__.'''

I'm sure there are much more things which I can't remember at the moment x'D

    3. Gawd I hated Bobobie dolls when I first saw them. I thought they were so weird-looking and out of proportion.
...Now I love four different Bobobie sculpts, and I'm trying to decide between Espree and Mei for one particular character.

    4. Things I thought I would never want:

-Tinies. I thought they were too small for me. (Now I own three and would like a couple more. They're so convenient to take around with you!) Puki's are still too small for me though. That's where I draw the line >.>

      - A girly gay boy doll. I like my boy dolls looking more masculine. (ended up having to save Eiji, Phoenix's bf, and now I sit there looking at him and wanting to make extravagant outifits in silk and leather with lots of feathers. :S)

      - A sleeping head, thought you couldn't do much with them. (Now have a Drayton 2nd, and they are ten times more expressive than people realise. Love him to bits.)

    5. Things I didn't think I'd want:
      -a SD
      -A puki
      -A tiny
      -A guy
      -A white skin doll
      -A vampire doll.
      -My smaller characters as dolls

      On my wishlist now:
      -A puki. XD
-A little fee who will be white skinned, since she is my vampire character. oO (Wow, that covered 3 things I didn't think I'd want all at once.)
-And, to go with said Little fee, two characters from her story. It looks like both will be SD and one will be a guy. @.@
-And, since I want a Little fee with a sleeping head... the sleeping head is going to become one of my more minor characters. @.@

Ugh... I appear to have pre-spent all my free cash for the next 5 years. XD

Thing I still am trying hard not to want. (Watch me crack in a couple of years)
-ALL of my characters as dolls (far too many of them!)
(Watch me seriously crack on this one. It'll start with my limit of Sanyu, Gael, Delaney, Gwen, Alistair, and a Puki. Then I'll add Morgana. Then Sera and Aura... Then Briar and Rosalynd... UGH! Cracking already... Sera would make such a nifty doll...)
-An entire flood of Pukis (Oh yeah, going to crack. >.< )

-Things I Don't Want and Probably WON'T crack on-
      -Pet/Anthro dolls
-Limited Dolls with no character background (I don't impulse buy, really, honest. I think about buying the doll for months or more before I save up enough.)
      -Boys who like other Boys.
-A LARGE doll, like 70cm+ (I don't have the space for such a doll. The SDs on my wishlist are going to be pushing it as is...)

    6. List of Things I Will Never Want in a BJD and now have:
      - A tiny since I have liccas and ginnys. I now have a YoSD, a Lati Yellow and another Yo on the way
      - A SD without original faceup. All my SDs are now without their original faceups
      - Sleeping Head. I have one.
      - Pure White SD. Have one body and waiting for a head to match

List of Things I Will Never Want in a BJD and still do not have yet:
      - A boy. Have boy heads but on girl bodies
      - Pet/anthro dolls. Lati cat does not count *_*
      - Vampire/Fantasy BJDs. very nice but my partner would be too spooked to walk into the dollroom and he owns the apartment :sweat

    7. I thought I didn't want girl dolls... and now I have 2 girl dolls (a third on the way) and 2 anthros that are girls

I also did not like Volks sculpts, they were weird looking... and now I can't stop looking at Hikaru Genji pics *_*

    8. I'm always changing my mind, but I think it's mostly due to exposure to them. They grow on me and then I have to have one.

    9. Just getting a doll in general.

I never played with dolls as a child, and I thought the prices were just too much for a doll.

But here I am waiting for a Twing-key lol

    10. It sounds funny, but... the first time I saw a BJD, I thought it was one of the ugliest and disturbing things I ever saw!!! *_*
I don't remember what doll it was, but his/hers frail look, big eyes, slim body all conveyed to me such an uncanny sensation!
It was only when I found Ryo Yoshida's book on the Ebay, and looked into it, that I began to understand BJD's absolute beauty... I bought the book and fell in love.:aheartbea and now I'm saving to buy my first one. Can't wait!

    11. I said I would get a Soom MD because although they are beautiful, they aren't really my thing...

      I'm now waiting for 2. :3

    12. No:
      -tinies
      -DZ
      -Girls
      -More than 3

-I now have a Pukisha and adore her
-I now have 2 Dollzone dolls and am in love with 2 more.
-I now have 1 girl, 2 if you count the fact that my Puki's character is a girl
-I have 5, planning on three to four more XD

    13. I own a Volks School A.
A modified School A, granted, but still... a School A.

I can't stand School As. Their lip sculp reminds me of a frog and their eye shape makes them look absolutely dopey. Even with modification, they're not the least bit attractive to me in any objective way.

And yet... I love mine dearly.

      Yomi's still a frog-faced dope, but he's *my* frog-faced dope.
I guess that makes all the difference. :doh

    14. Things I swore I would never get in a BJD:

      - A Volks. I hated them at first, now I love many.
      - A mature mini. Now I am considering a few.
      - All-white or pupil-less eyes for BJD... I have some in my girl now and I love them. :sweat
      - Fur wigs. I'm going to buy a few soon, now...

Right now I'm saying I'll never get an SD, but looking at the past I don't think thatll happen..

    15. I thought I would never:

-Get a girl. I am now falling in love with them all over the place, most of my wishlist is girls xD

      - Get a tiny. I now own a CCC Deer Faith which is pretty damn tiny. Plus I am in love with Puki Darjeeling, so KEWT :aheartbea

      - Get an anthro. Well...yeah, of all the tinies, I got a DEER >.<

      - Get more than 3. I have 4 with another one on the way and more planned.

      - Get one of Sooms MDs. When I first saw Beryl, I was disturbed. Then I saw Sard and was even more disturbed. Now I'm cursing myself because I'm now hopelessly in love with Sard and have a Heliot on the way

      - Dolls that don't fit into a story. My guys refused to be the characters I wanted so now they do their own thing and I love them for it xD

    16. I thought I would never have anything larger than yo-sd, but I fell head over heals over Iplehouse Tania (MSD size) and just had to have her. Sigh, the poor girl towers over the others that didn't look tiny to me before!

    17. "I really don't want weird colors, they'll be a pain."
...says the owner of one of the realskin Akandos and a Euclase, both of whom are favored children in the house.

"I really don't need a lot of boys, I like girls more, anyway... "
...says the girl with an equal number of each in the house presently. (There's one more girl than boy in waiting, but mercy knows how long that'll last.) Boys definitely outnumber the girls in Size Group B, which lives upstairs. (Size Group A, the downstairs cluster, is all MAs.)

"Why on earth would I want a floating head?!"
...six minimee heads and an Akando head and a Euclase head and incoming Heliot heads and so on aren't allowed to count. (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

    18. Rules:
      - Didn't want anything smaller than an SD sized doll (always wanted an older looking doll)
      - Didn't want a limited doll (thought I'd be too worried to even touch them let alone work on them)
      - Didn't want a Volks doll (no malice to Volks or the owners, I just never really liked their faces)
      - Would never buy a mohair wig (because for the longest, every mohair wig I saw looked like the same Cloud inspired spikey look ;_; )
      - Never pay by layaway/only buy dolls once I had all of the money in the bank (I was worried I wouldn't get to make the payments)
      - Only buy dolls for preexisting characters (so I wasn't wanting dolls all willy-nilly)
      - Only buy dolls for characters pertaining to Tokujo's storyline (Easier to keep track of)
      - Learn to mod, do face ups, make clothes, blah blah.... (saving money!)
      - Never make a character doll (making a doll after a character that everyone knows about? No thank you, good sir, now off with you!)

      Meanwhile, back at the lab:
      - My first doll *is* MSD size, with more on my wishlist.... in fact, they take up about 2/3rds of the list!
      - A limited is on the way, curse you, Soom!
      - Ami Ayase most definitely stole my heart! (of course, I'm still never going to get her as she's a lottery doll worth over $1000, but I can now say I like at least one Volks doll XD)
      - I realized that in order to get the right look, Tokujo *needs* a mohair wig.
      - But Amber was only available for 13 days! What was I to do?
      - Quite a few dolls I simply said "Pretty!" and *then* created a special character.
      - One storyline is about a vampire and her butler (neither of whom Tokujo meet on her travels), one storyline is about the 3 entities who govern their planet (they aren't even part of Tokujo's world), and 5 planned dolls aren't actually part of a story, they're just there to be cute.
      - Yeeeeaaah..... I can feel that side fading quickly.
      - But a personified Amaterasu and and Issun doll, how cute!

Maybe I should make a rule about not having rules?

    19. No tinies other than my bobobie - have a puki on order.
Only three dolls - already have five.
No floating heads unless it's to match another head (like a sleeping version) - see sig.
Cillian, Whisper and Song were the three I was going to have - they ended up being Seifer, Squall and later this year, Irvine.
Only SD size - have a bobobie Elfkin, and an msd dollzone.
Only new dolls - Dani was bought second hand.
No limiteds - Iplehouse swan lake soori. (And don't regret it one tiny tiny bit.)

    20. When I was new in this hobby there were a few things I'd never buy:

Anything smaller than SD Now I own one MSD, have two tinies on my wishlist as wel as a 50 cm doll.

Volks They were too expensive. And too beautiful. And once I started buying these I was certain that I couldn't stop.
I was right. There are two Volks dolls in my crew right now and three (perhaps four) are still on my wishlist.

Limiteds Too much of a hassle. Why buy limiteds if you have standards you can buy straight of the company??
Now, all my dolls are limiteds and all - save for one - on my wishlist are too. What was I thinking? Hunting down limiteds is fun!

Commissioned outfits Too much money for something you could do yourself. ...Yeah... I like my bought outfits now.

Commmissioned face-ups Because this is something you have to learn yourself! ... Until I realized that there were many people who could do a much better job than I and it would save me much time (I don't like doing face-ups, but I do like commissioning someone)

      tl;dr
I was delussional and should've listened to what I liked straight away instead of being such a headstrong child.
