1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

"Breaking the Mold" or, loving what you thought you wouldn't.

Mar 8, 2008

1. My list:
-5 dolls is enough (7 at home, 1 on his way, saving for 2 more)
-no animal dolls (Pipos Cheshire at home)
-no LE's (Cheshire and IP Kamau)
-no MSDs (I'm planning one)
-no hybrids (1 completed, 2 in process)
-only NS dolls (Kamau, Gray cheshire, and saving for a BW doll)
-no secondary market dolls (I've got 2)

I have some rules that haven't been broken yet though:
-no Volks, FL, CP or Luts
-no Pukis or tiny dolls

2. Not exactly sure if this counts, but I told myself I would never cross-dress my boy in any way, but right now I'm planning on making him a corset, and I've already made the stockings >.<
It's not really cross-dressing, but it's close-ish >.>

3. Didn't want:
•45cm+ doll (Now am saving for a Crobidoll R-line doll)
•A tiny (Though I'd break one - got a dollndoll heart on order)
•buy clothes for dolls (All of my boys have clothes made by companies and Tata's Paradise)
•uber-expensive Volks brand (but then I saw YoSD piccolo, and now I want!!)
•No more than three dolls (current planned family size: 6)
•black or brown eyes for all my dolls (now have green, white, blue, red...)
•spend no more than 400 on a doll (see:IP Louis)

4. I didn't really have any rules. I had stuff I didn't like which all made it on to my wishlist in time. No Lishe or El is the main one that seems to have stuck...beautiful dolls but too many for mine to feel special if I had one.

5. things i never liked in BJD:
1.Soom Dolls(now i have Diaand waiting for two-Amber and Heliot)
2.Curly wigs(i have 3 of them now!!)
3.that i will never do face up and blushing my self(i did it)))
4.Buy a Limited Edition doll(i did it-Amber and Heliot)

6. List of Things I Don't Want in a BJD:

- A mold larger than a tiny.
- Skin tones other than BW, "normal" or gray.
- Sleeping Head(s).
- Floating Head(s).
- Lots of outfits/shoes/etc for a single doll.
- To spend > $400 on a sculpt.

... I already broke numero uno. My first doll is a MSD.

EDIT: Broke #2 - decided I really want a pair of tan dolls.

We'll see how I'll do with the others.

7. When I first got into the hobby, I decided quite firmly that:
- I would have only one doll.
- If I ever for some bizarre reason got another doll, it would be a boy - no girls.
- I would never get a tiny.
- I would never get a white-skin doll.

All of that went out the window when Soom Glot was released. She arrived in my home on Monday and I am thrilled with my little Lainie. :)
I also decided early on that I would never have a Volks, and now I am lusting after an F-20. I can't see any way for me to be able to actually break that "rule", though, since I don't think I'll be getting to Tenshi no Sato anytime soon!

8. Things I didn't want:

A boy- Then I saw Dollshe :( I can't wait to get a Saint
"couples"- Saint's gonna want a friend... A friend named E-an.
Floating heads- Have a look at my Shoyohead in a box.
Tinies- I'm saving for one right now
And most importantly... I didn't want what could be called a "collection" of BJDs. And judging by the above list, that one's gone out the window.

9. Didn't want:
A doll. My whole life I thought they were too girly...

Now I find myself staring at them all day long, and I'm saving up for one XD

Couldn't resist posting that ;D

10. I'd never liked Volks dolls. I'm not completely sure why. Maybe because they were overly popular?
Anyways, now I'm saving up for an Irvin, Nana and School A. :aheartbea

11. I'm pretty much with muzikluvr on the doll thing. I always found dolls to either be too vain (fashion dolls like Barbie) or creepy (99% of baby dolls. Ick.). After getting past my knee-jerk reaction to hate everything doll related, I really like my BJDs. They're really in a league of their own.

Anyway, I guess I should add my rules
Rules Not Broken;
-Nothing larger than MSD.
-No limiteds/discontinued dolls.
-No fullsets.
-No floating heads/headless bodies.
-No sleeping dolls.
-Not really a rule, but I don't really like super popular sculpts, no matter how lovely. I have a habit of floating toward odd ones anyway, so that's not been an issue so far.

Rules Already Broken;
-No feminine boys. I've fallen for DZ Ray, who has a very smarmy, pretty face.
-All dolls need to have at least a small smile. Not even kind of smiling KDF Litchi would be my DZ Ray's girlfriend.

12. "Rules" that I've broken:

No tinies (I had a Bambicrony)
No dolls larger than SD size (I have a 70cm hybrid on the way)
No hybrids (see above)
No outfits over $80 (Oh Dollheart...)

"Rules" that I haven't broken:

No Delf boys
No DZ dolls
No animal dolls
No overly feminized boys
No insanely expensive one-off dolls

So...I guess I'm about 50/50.

13. I think you do start out with rules, but i broke the over 19 cm tiny rule and I shouldn't have. It was a chubby, and while I like it. It isn't for me. But I was also only going to have 1 and now am in the process of acquiring 11. Blew that out of the water. But they are all under 19cm

14. These were the rules I came up with when I first started researching:

- No male dolls
- Nothing smaller than MSD except Rooney
- No more than one MSD (broken)
- No spending more than necessary (Ami Ayase plans = broken so good)
- No anthro molds
- No floating heads
- No more than five human dolls

The last rule is the only one I'm really trying to keep. So far, the wishlist has stayed in that range, and I'm hoping that I won't be lusting too much beyond that.

15. Things I did not want:
-A Breakaway (way too overrated/expensive. I also wasn't fond of the owner pics.)
-Any doll over 60cm
-A tiny
-Too many girls (I like boy dolls much better)
-No floating heads

Now I have:
-A breakaway (the doll I love the most- I saw two, not-so-clear pictures in the Marketplace and immediately fell in love. He is one of the only dolls I would never part with.)
-A tiny, plus one shared with my mom
-3 65cm girls and a floating head that will likely go on my 70cm AS body
-Way more girls than guys
-have 4 floating heads sharing 1 body

Unbroken "rules":
-No Volks
-No Dollshe/Unoa
-No more Soom monthlies after Beryl

16. I'm waiting for my first doll atm, so I haven't really had a chance to break any rules yet (other than "do not pay that much for a piece of resin" 8D), but I'll post my current rules and see how many I have left unbroken in a year or two ^^

- No vampires
- No elves
- No floating heads except sleeping versions of "normal" molds I have
- No boys with girly molds and girly clothes

17. probably boy dolls, in the beginning I only liked girls, now I have more boys than girls!

18. I swore I would never:

• Be owned by more than one (HAAHAHAHAHAAH! *points to signature*)
• Once I got two SDs, I swore I'd never have too many to comfortably fit in my home (HAAHAHAHAHAAH! *points to signature*)
• Anything smaller than an SD (I now have SIX Yo-SDs and they have surpassed my SDs)
• A boy (I have two, but no more because I've learned I actually really don't bond easily with boys except the two I have and don't want to take the chance anymore)
• Purchase one on complete impulse (happened several times now)
• Have an Ark because I didn't like the sculpt (bought one and now like the sculpt)
• Like any sculpt more than I like the Lishe sculpt (I think Juri has surpassed it)
However... still no:
• MSDs
• Sleeping heads
• Dreaming heads
• Volks

19. I though I would never :
- have a tiny/yo-SD doll. I'm getting two :D wth?
- get a SoOm doll, especially MD. I got one, because it looks just like an original character of mine I totally want.
- keep a floating head. Well I used to have one, but couldn't stand it and sold it. I am getting a second one now XD
- buy a Girl Doll. Well I think i might just do that...and mod it into boy...^^''

- I also though I'd have one, probably two dolls. I'm planning my 4th.

BJD are a paradox! XD

20. I've broken more rules!

I swore I'd never buy another puki after I sold the rose I had. What's this week's impulse purchase? A Puki puki flora >.<

I also swore I wouldn't have floating heads. ANd... yeah. I have two now that I don't want to part with >.<
