1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. "Breaking the Mold" or, loving what you thought you wouldn't.

Mar 8, 2008

    1. At first I thought the Volks Four Sisters (F-01) sculpt was a bit boring and too typical, even though I've had a Megu for years. I've since fallen in love with her, especially after I saw a sun-tanned version of the F-01 at a doll meet-up six months ago. It was absolutely beautiful!

    2. I think I said I would never get sucked into the PKF and Lati hype, but I've fallen completely in love with Zoe and Lea. I never thought I would mod (too permanent!), but I did.
I used to say I wouldn't have more than one BJD at a time, two at most. Now my planned doll family had 4 BJDs.

    3. I used to think that:
      - I only want dolls MSD-sized and smaller
      - I would never get "soomed"
      - I would never chase the Limited
      - I would never understand why other people like Unoas

      Now I notice that:
      - I am waiting for my first 65cm doll
      - this said doll is from Soom (and not the first Soom doll I bought)
      - of course this said doll is also a Limited (and not the first of those, neither)
      - I am strangely attracted to Unoa Chibi Roron (but she wouldn't fit into my doll family, so still resisting)

    4. Before
      - No Tinies.
      - No girls.
      - Only one doll at the time.
      - No SOOM Glati. The mold is ugly.

      Now
      - I have five tinies and three more on the way.
      - Five of the tinies are girls.
      - Three dolls is on their way to me.
      - One of the dolls I'm waiting for is a Glati.

    5. I used to say I'd never own a tiny, they're far too small for me. Now I'm in the process of getting rid of everything but my tinies. I also used to feel Volks was terribly over-rated and, frankly, ugly. Now I own only Volks...orz

    6. Dollzone. I had at one time considered getting one because of them being more affordable, but I wasn't very fond of them, so I gave that up.

But now, once I've bought the doll head I'm in the process of getting from the Marketplace, I'm putting his body on hold and buying the new Dollzone Una. The decision was extremely sudden and impulsive, but I had never seen a doll that I fell in love with so quickly. Even Abadon took a short while for me to gravitate to...

    7. The first time I saw an Unoa, I knew for a fact that I never wanted one. The mold was odd: the hands bothered me, the poses were weird (what on earth was with those super bent legs, that's not where girls' curves are!), not to mention the stupid half-open mouth and half-closed eyes (Lusis), or the displeased toad stare (Sist).

Three years later I anxiously awaited the next Unoa preorder, I couldn't bear not owning a Lusis any longer. I have had Aristelle for a year now, and I love her!!!

I didn't like the chibi unoas either, but now I can appreciate them more, and I think their facial expressions have an interesting range, and can be quite cute. I like the Unoa 2.0 (?), but I don't like the range of motion (kinda like a giant Barbie). I am in love with Unoa Zero, but she's kinda too big (and my wallet can only take so much damage :sweat).

    8. I recently Just bought an animal BJD, I never In a million years thought I would like them. I always thought they were kind of weird looking but I found one that was absolutely adorable and just had to buy it as soon as I saw it!

    9. I told myself once that I would never own a Volks. Too expensive, they all look the same, they are no different than any other doll out there. And now? I have three and see myself owning more in the future.

    10. Before
      - No tinies, they didnt suit any of my characters
      - No girls, I have very few girl characters and they all dont suit any molds I can find
      - Nothing over $400
      - No SD's, they are waaay too big and would look weird with all of my MSD's
      - No Chalco, because he isnt for me

      Now
      - I have a Tiny, and she is adorable (and very moody)
      - I have 2 girls
      - Just put a layaway on for a Soom Heliot/Sard hybrid ($750 well spent!)
      - I have 1 SD here, an SD sized floating head, a Heliot on the way
      - Became hypnotised by Chalco's sexiness and I now have a Chalco head

    11. I didn't want
More then one: I have 3 and a two more coming...
A boy: He's my favorite doll! so far <3
To spend over 200 dollars: My newest was 280
To carry them all around: ...we're planning a photoshot in a park today lol. <3

      sooo yeah .... I fail =w=

    12. I just started collecting BJDs in 2009 but I doubt I'll break away from my no-no list, such as cute little dolls. I just don't like them and I don't see the changing.

    13. Before :
      Buying more than one doll
      Buying SDs
      An Elf Inspired doll
      No Resinsoul/Bobobie

      After :
Buying a RS *70cm* body for her floating Migidoll Ryu head, which happens to be my second doll
Wanting a Resinsoul Weylin Elf doll in Blue Skin..Planning to mod this into my version of a Jabberwocky.

I originally thought that Bobobie/Resinsoul were very cheap looking from all the box openings *Please don't hate me* but now I think that all the sculpts are really well made and can be beautiful if you put your heart into it. I'm glad that broke myself out of that mold and became to enjoy most molds that the companies put out. Can't wait to get more dolls for my family!

    14. List of Things I Will Never Want in a BJD:
      - A tiny. (my second doll was a tiny, and I now own three bodies and six floating heads).
      -
An anthro. (my second doll was an anthro, and two of my floating heads are anthros too).
      - A boy doll. (I now own one, have one floating head, and have two more boys incoming).
      - Dark skin. (I have a dark tanned boy, and a lighter tanned boy incoming).
      - A romantic headed doll. (I have one R. teenie and a R. SD boy incoming).
      - A sleeping headed doll. (I kept the ZZZ head that came with my Shonki - although he rarely wears it...).
      - More than a small number. (I will have nine or ten dolls once my current orders ship, and ten or so floating heads as well).
      - Dolls without fantasy parts (most of my dolls don't wear their fantasy parts most of the time).
      -
Dolls from a company other than Soom (my second doll was a Pipos Cheshire, and I have some Iplehouse dolls on my wanted list).

Collecting dolls has just been a constant race to break every rule I thought I could safely put on my 'Do Not Want' list :XD:

    15. I never thought I'd want a Unoa Lusis because she's a smaller doll, but now she's all I can ever think, talk, and dream about! I've always wanted a big dolly, maybe a Volks SD or SD13, a 60cm+ doll. BJDs are so expensive so I thought if I get one, I should get the big ones, but I just love this doll too much! Now I want my first doll to be a Unoa Lusis, minus the k-doll head I have tucked away in the closet. I'm not sure what I want to do with it anymore. I decided I wanted a boy when I bought the head, but now I want a girl more because I like making girl clothes better and I think I could bond better with a girl since I'm so girly! I also want a Musedoll Re-an before I try to finish up the k-doll boy. XD

    16. Well let just say if this is a English test I fail miserably, my definition is all wrong: No = Yes!
What I want didn't like then I love it now, what I didn't want then now I have it or want it.
The sculpt that I didn't like have grown on me. I'm like Dragonffyre I used to really really dislike
Unoa now I wanted Unoa Lusis really really bad.

    17. The only thing I thaught I'd never want is a girl doll. Now looking at my current dolls head, I just can't look at him like he is a guy, I just think the head is better suited for a female body. So now I'm in the process of purchasing a female body XD for curosity sake he is a Zhu Qing illusion spirit msd. Maybe you'll see the same thing I do with the head.

    18. Oh god... so many of these.

      • Tinies: I thought they were too small for me to handle.
      • Anthros: I've never liked anthropomorphism except for gijinka that are mainly, well, human.
      • Dollfie Dreams: Way too stylized, plus they all look the same.
      • Dream Dolls: I thought the concept was far fetched.
      • Limiteds: I thought there were enough dolls out there to find ones you like without needing to chase limiteds.

And I've come to realize that

      1. I love pukifee/lati yellow sized dolls. I have two and a soon to be third on the way.
      2. I fell in love with an anthro mold and there are a few others I like.
      3. I have one dollfie dream, one on pre-order and hunting another... (and my want list extends a couple molds further) it was just a matter of finding molds I liked.
      4. I have three dolls with the 'dream status' so far; Acquired two, looking for the other.
      5. Half of my collection is comprised of limiteds. It's a little stressful, but I manage.

      NOW
No rules because I know they will be broken.

But that means my doll population has exploded and is all over the place, style-wise and size-wise. It's good and bad. But, that's how it is. I couldn't limit myself, I guess! Although I DID put in the effort, I think! Some rules lasted for years! *_*

    20. I'm pretty sure that I've broken every rule I ever made for myself concerning BJDs, whether it be about price or aesthetic. The one I break all the time is the one where I tell myself that I'm going to start saving up for them instead of splurging.
