"Breaking the Mold" or, loving what you thought you wouldn't.

I will not buy more than one doll.
Yup, same camp as most of you.

I will stick to minis.

Only two of my eight were under that price.

I won't spend more than $10 on a pair of eyes.
I think the cheapest eyes I own now are $30 SOOM silicones. I'm developing a urethane addiction D:.

I won't buy clothes; I will only make them for my dolls.
I still make the majority of their outfits, but I've purchased quite a few things from Volks, Dollheart, and some independent sellers here.

And the big one:
My doll(s) will be nothing but little clotheshorses.
I wasn't interested in creating stories or elaborate personalities for my dolls, but they seemed to have developed backstories and motivations whether I wanted it or not. I think that's the reason my collection changed from a few girls that wear lots of clothing well to a varied cast consisting of every size and both genders. It would have been so much easier if they had stayed without personalities!

 

I will never restring, especially Dark Cocori.

I will never nail polish or body blush.
I've done 2 blushings, 3pairs of feet, 2pairs of hands.

I will never dye a doll.
Haven't done, but I WILL buy a Baha and dye him grey one day

I never ever want a Dollshe boy.
I'd buy a Dollshe SA Saint right now if I had the money.

I'd never spend $60 on eyes
I'd love a pair of Enchanteds, which I'll be getting within a year.

I'd never do a faceup.
I'd love to buy a blank head and make him/her my own.
I'll do my own faceups from now on, I think, on next dolls

- I said i'd own 2 of each size (a boy and a girl), and only the main 3 sizes (SD, MSD, Yo).

I have 2 Yo's and 2 more that I am planning around christmas... all girls!!

I have lots and lots of MSD's, and I just won an SDC Ryu as well... and in October, I want to get a Lati Blue Boy.

I have a Tenshi (Genderless) Yugiri SD, and a DD2 girl. Plus, a LS Ted Boy on his way... but I have a bunch more SD's on my wishlist... including my ultimate dream goal of making my F4 (the boys from the "Boys Over Flowers" Manga).

I really, really, really want a 70cm boy. Not set on a specific one yet, but I want a doll in that size (not a hound tho... I don't care for them).

I recently fell in love with a 55cm girl... Souldoll Hye.

Then I got a puki (o.0... you can't have just 1... or just 10 for that matter), now I want a few Lati kids (all their sizes are so odd... I wonder why they do that?!?).

- Also... I told myself that i'd only buy limited edition dolls so that they hold their value if I ever decided to sell them and get my money back. (Not counting the dolls my friend LS makes... those i'd buy anyway, just to support her.)

I now have about 8 that are not limiteds... plus one on it's way, and half of another (needs a head), one i'm saving for in october, 2 more at xmas, and about 8 more on my wishlist.

 

1. I said I wouldn't buy more than one. Then I decided I should have a girl and a boy. Then my husband said, "Wow - this other one is cool," and now I don't even count anymore.
2. I said that I would not buy clothes for them - just shoes, because I couldn't make the shoes myself. I still sew a lot, but Doll Heart outfits are just too well made for the price... I have never spent over $150 for one outfit, though.
3. I said I would not go crazy on clothes/accessories. I have little boxes and doll trunks stuffed everywhere around the house with clothes, shoes, hair, eyes, etc.
4. I said I would only do one Volks FCS doll... now I have three.

I think that is all that I told myself...

 

1. I said Emma was the only doll I'd ever plan on getting ----Failed. I plan on buying Sergei Happyboy from DIM in a month or two XD

2. I said I would only get girls ---Failed, Sergei is a boy XD

3. I said I would never even CONSIDER spending more than 200USD on a doll. ---Failed, again.

4. I said I'd never take her out of the house unless it was for a dollfie meet ----Failed. She comes to school with me every day

5. I said I'd never get a teeeeeeeensy darling like a Puki ----Still persistant! I love them, but I know I'd lose them, so I haven't been tempted!

Ha, I fail at them all!

 

Things I said I would never do:

Not bother with BJDs after seeing my first piccie of one, then...

Never buy more than one, but now I have three, which feels like too many for me.

Never EVER think of buying a forth, but I am.

Never like male dolls, but got one for an experiment and for some reason I like him.

Buy lots of goodies for them, but have spent hundreds on shoes/wigs/clothes.

Forget the meaning of moderation.

 

Wow. Here are a few of mine.

1. If I EVER got my hands on a BJD I'd NEVER ask for another one.
(Yeah, Now I own one and am waiting for two more to come home)

2. If I EVER Got another one, It would just be something I REALLY wanted.
(My 2nd doll happened to be an impulse buy. I no longer own him because I didn't really want him, I just bought him "Because I could")

3. I'd never like the MSD or Smaller Size, Only the SD and Up.
(Haha, I'm now looking at all the tiny and cute little MSD sizes and thinking "Hmm...I bet their clothing wouldn't cost as much as the bigger ones, and they are really cute!")

4. Buying a doll over $400 is way too much!
(Although my dolls were all bought second hand, they all cost over $400. Plus I have been stalking the Unidoll website's Jace for quite some time now and plotting on how I can ever afford one)

5. For Every Doll I Got, I Would Need The Opposite Gender. (Meaning = I have a Girl, to get a boy wouldn't be too unreasonable)
(Was A Wonderful Idea....Until My Mom surprised me with 2 boys...now I don't want one of those boys to be lonely do I?)

6. Once My Boys came I would stop looking at more dolls.
(Oh but that News thread that DOA has just keeps blinking "NEW DOLL" at me...I can't help but click it!)

7. I'd NEVER order a doll from a company, buying it second hand is just as good.
(I haven't broken this one yet, but I know it will happen VERY soon since I just can't seem to find the dolls I want second hand)

 

Rules I have failed at:

6. No SDs. They're too huge, too heavy, too hard to pose. They only have good faces.

The 2 sd heads being casted are in fact two Zack Fair Minimee heads >w>; They won't be twins tho^^; and they will be modded to have...uhm... different eye openings? xD /fails

I will never get a tiny, certainly not Puki, they are too cute - I have two tinies here, one Puki on the way, two tiny heads on the way and other tinies planned, including one more Puki.
I would never plan to get more than five MSD size dolls - well, I've got three, had plans for two others but recently saw the Bobobie Song doll and thought 'He'd look good blue!', so that would be six ^^;
I'd never end up with floating heads - I had one floating head for three months before getting him a body, I've got one more head floating around and am waiting for two more floating heads.
No buying a doll on impulse - That is why I have two tinies...
get everything prepared for a doll before buying it - Haha, I get a few things like eyes and wigs in advance, but most of my dolls end up naked for ages
The most common one: 'One will do' I said after I got my 60cm Obitsu :P - I have eight dolls, one on the way, two heads on the way and eleven on the wishlist...

4. No floating heads. I do have 2 heads without bodies but I'm intending to sell them (when I am less lazy) rather than waiting to buy bodies.

5. No boys in girl's clothing. This one should have been broken as Rupert was supposed to be a transvestite, but I'm not splashing out on girly clothes for him until I find shoes that fit.
