1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Burnout while waiting

Mar 6, 2010

    1. I am starting to suffer in agony!! T^T I dont know how much longer I can wait for my first boy before my head explodes!! I already paid for him. I'm just waiting.. I check everyday. and I'm waiting and waiting and waiting!!!! D':

    2. I feel really flat about the wait. I have to wait 4 months for my girl and I only ordered her 2 weeks ago!! I have sold some things that were dear to me to pay for her, but the money is just sitting there waiting until they are ready for it, and I just wish there was some way to get it all done quicker!! It is a VERY strange thing to spend so much money on an item and then not have anything in your hand to show for it!! I am also nervous that by the time she gets here I'll have moved on to someone else I desperately want and not be as excited by her arrival!

    3. Usually, the wait is rough, but I can handle it. The characters I dollify are usually pretty vaguely fleshed out, so I spend my waiting time drawing pictures, making face up plans, figuring out clothes/wigs/eyes/ect, figuring out their backstory ect, and when I feel like I'll go crazy waiting, I try to focus on something else (tough though. I have a very focused, obsessive mind XD)

I'm feeling a bit of a burnout over the doll I'm waiting for now though x.x
Nothing against the doll company or the dealer I ordered from, Its just that I am so ready for this doll to get here XD
I probably know the dolls character better than I know myself, I have all his things waiting for him, and his faceup is planned out, all I have left to do requires the doll to be here XD *so anxious* and it doesn't help that this is my longest wait so far x.x

    4. Waiting for a bjd is so hard but it took me 4 years to get up enough nerve to buy one and when i did i was thrilled and then the waiting hit me. It wasn't as bad as i thought. My first girl came with in a month and a half, the second came with in a week and the third which is my minifee i have been waiting for since november. Im not burned out though just excited waiting for the moment and counting the days for her is kinda fun.

    5. I am in the same boat (of waiting), I just ordered my first doll and it probably wont even get to me until the end of March.. *SOB*
It's been difficult waiting, and a few times I questioned whether I had made the right decision to get him, but when I log on here and browse for a bit I get all excited again sdlkfjsgs

    6. I get more burned out waiting on clothes and wigs rather than the actual doll. I ordered wigs from leeke in december and they havent been shipped yet. The doll they were meant for beat them home -.-' so he went straight back into the box until they arrive. If they take much longer I'll probably be all angry about it.
Once I get a shipping notice, thats when I go crazy about the waiting. I compulsively check the tracking and I rush down to the post office on the days the parcel is MEANT to be there. The in between after paying and when I get the shipping notice means nothing to me. But after the shipping notice..my god..its horrible.

    7. Oh boy do I know that feeling! You sit around waiting, and the longer you wait the more you wonder if spending so much money on a doll was a good idea, if you picked the right doll, if you are going to even like it when you see it in person, etc. It's that little nagging doubt that comes from having to wait so long for something you really wanted and then realizing you COULD technically live without it, whether you want to or not.

But when your doll arrives, I have a feeling you'll be thrilled. I am waiting on a body for one of my dolls right now, along with his wig, eyes, clothes, all that jazz. Even I am starting to get the feeling, even though I have the head and have had to wait before. But then I will think about it some more and get excited again. Give it time! I hope you're totally satisfied when your doll arrives! (:

    8. Waiting doesn't bother me particularly. At this point, I've got enough dolls that it's easy to stay busy. I've bought on layaway a couple of times, so I'm used to 6+ months. I just try not to think about it until much, though I will do a bit of wig/eye shopping while waiting. The only time a wait has ever been unbearable was when I was in a split for a head that went somewhat sour. For a time it looked like I might have spent money for nothing and that will certainly increase your anxiety quotient!

    9. Funny enough, I can cope with the regular waiting period. It's the shipping period that always gets me jittery!! I'm normally a very laid back person, but I've had a few people comment on my excitement when I learn that my doll got shipped, haha! I'm not sure what does it. On a whole I try my best to practice patience, because the more anxious I get, the harder the wait becomes. So I discipline myself into simply falling into the flow of things, to treat each passing day as a normal one and voila! Shipping notice!

My first doll took three months to get home and I ordered him before Christmas and before the DOTs were freshly released. I actually was so laid back about it, that people got their Christmas orders and their DOTs while my DOC still had no update!! So I emailed DOD and got Leu within a few days. I don't know how I do it!

    10. Waiting is just part of the deal with this hobby. I find that focusing on real life stuff (work, family, school in my case) makes it a non-issue. ^^

    11. I waited about a month for my doll, but even longer for all his items to come. Don't let the "burnout" get the best of you, do try to distract yourself from checking the status more than twice a day. Once you get yourself occupied in something productive you will notice that time will fly by. :)

    12. The wait is the worst!

My luna took nearly 4 months! which is even LONGER than usual for fairyland.
However i kept as busy as possible by buying clothes, wigs, shoes, eyes, bulding a bedroom for her, buying furnature....

      HOWEVER
I was lucky enough to score my Pukifee Pong (Roux=girl PKF pong)
from someone who bought her, then half way through the wait got burned out, and sold her to me...so once she arrived to her, she shipped her right over to me!

So i got VERY VERY lucky but that is a good example of getting burnt out during the wait!

    13. [yes I know this is an old thread now >.>]

I just ordered a new doll 8 days ago and I'm already going mad haha

It wouldn't be soooo unbearable if it weren't for the fact that I have no idea when DDE will place my order with DC so I probably won't even know until she actually gets to Denver Dolls.... at least not with the lack of info I'm getting from DDE anyway...

    14. Waiting sucks. Period.

I like to see waiting periods like BBQ, "set it and forget it", then when you least expect it, you'll have a pleasant surprise at your door!

    15. I am too much of a remorseful shopper, spending loads of time waiting for a package makes me worry about whether I will love it or not

    16. I usually don't mind waiting... I try and use the time to prepare for the doll's arrival, looking at clothes and eyes and wigs and shoes and accessories, etc.

I do tend to get very antsy after 4 months, though.

One way to NOT burn out:
Try not to think about the doll at all-- just make the order and forget about it until you get contacted with a shipping notice!

I've done that when I was starting out and it works like a charm!

Lately, I hang about in Waiting Rooms... It's fun, but it can also seem like FOREVER...

    17. I think waiting is sometimes really relaxing for me. :)
Before I buy a doll, I'm always really excited - will I have the money, will everything work out, when it's a limited doll will I be able to get him, what eyes, what wig...all those questions. When I bought the doll, I can lay back and relax. For me, most of the stress is gone and I can enjoy other things again. And counting the days, prepare his arrival...:D

    18. I´m also about to explode!! I ordered almost two months ago and I heard DOD takes their time with their orders and on top pf that I ordered two dolls!! They are my first ones, so this adds stress to the wait.
So, I am looking for clothes and the sort while I wait because I could not afford their clothes at the moment, but now I´ve seen too much clothes that is making me dizzy...

    19. A 2-3 month wait usually doesn't bother me too much, but when I had to wait over 5 months for two dolls, I lost interest by the time the dolls arrived. Even after a face-up change, I never really liked them as well as my other dolls.

I think hanging out in Waiting Rooms makes the wait seem a lot longer, but the excitement of seeing other people get similar dolls can compensate for that.

    20. I'm getting burnt out on the wait with Souldoll. I'm at 5 months. And I have 2 dolls incoming from them. I'm not burnt out on the dolls but I'm burnt out on how long it is especially since my 60 day wait is looking to get doubled.

I got another doll in recently so it's also helping with the sting of it all. She's therapy while her friends are being made.
