1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Buying clothes: in sets or separates?

Apr 2, 2011

    1. I haven't had any experience buying sets, I'm more of a separate buyer myself.
Although I can see how buying sets is easier, and quicker, I like to pick and choose certain pieces that I like.
I also don't want to be left with pieces I won't use. (I know I could always sell them.. but still.)

    2. I buy both, but I think I may prefer sets overall if my spending habits are anything to go buy, hah. I find that when making mental calculations, it actually looks like sets are usually a better deal; if I were to guesstimate the prices of each piece if they were sold individually by a store, the price is usually $10-30 higher. Places like DollHeart and Angell-Studio have great quality sets for such good prices!

In comparison, there are lots of stores with premium pricing for their separate pieces, Nine9Style being one of the worst. Ouch, their prices are super-cringe-worthy. If I'm going to bother buying something from a company, I also prefer it be a larger purchase overall to justify the shipping. So if I DO plan to get separates, I want to get a few from the same place! I think as my main spoiled girl has become more casual/modern in style though, I've been leaning more toward getting separate pieces.

    3. I like both but tend to buy separate sometime you can just make better outfits out of separate pieces. then again sometimes an outfit can be prefect as one too.

    4. I'll buy sets, but that's the only way the outfits I look at usually come - pre-coordinated from Volks. I tend to like that, since I get one guaranteed outfit to use with each purchase, plus a bunch of pieces that can be recycled with other clothes when desired. It's not that I'd avoid buying singles necessarily; most stuff just isn't sold that way. (I don't use street clothes).
