1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. DoA market place, because i can search up the peoples bio's and see pics/topics about the doll, and find out why they wanna sell it, or if there's any problems they've incountered with the doll ^_^

    2. DOA marketplace. ^_^
I find it a lot easier and safer than anything else.

    3. I've used the Marketplace. Huge variety, and better prices than Ebay. I bought my 2nd hand doll a little earlier than planned because it was a mold I wanted, for a very good price. Aside from checking feedback, the forum lets you see the seller involved in the community and the fandom. Someone who is heavily into the fandom is a lot less likely to scam than someone who appears new. In my case I was able to find the seller's site where he is selling his own custom-made art, and I knew he would never want to damage his reputation as a seller.

    4. I'm getting my Afghan second hand via DOA's MP. The price is really par for par. It's a bit better because things like faceup and wig are included...

But hey, why not? This person is trying to sell their doll and in many cases to be able to afford another doll instead. So we both get what we want. :3

    5. I love buying second-hand, and that's pretty much across the board, not just BJDs! I can't imagine being the kind of person who would only buy new...

    6. I LIKE buying second hand, and I LOVE dealing on DOA or yahoogroups that I am in..

I think tis because of the great sense of community.. often you already have communicated with the person who is selling on other matters, and you get a feel for their personality and their integrity, plus of course, I think you do get a slightly better deal within that community, and not having to worry about ebay fees is a good thing too :>

Ebay of course, offers range and choice.. so I haunt there second :>

Bought 8 dolls this last month (OMFG!) most of them were new, but only because of the great xmas deals that are on with the doll makers right now, and because I couldn't find the dolls that I wanted here..... I looked on DoA first, then Ebay.. then went to the dollmakers (except for the souldoll pair, because I HAD to have the special event there).

I will always look here before I go and buy anywhere else :>

      Seek peace

    7. I like the DoA marketl=place because it seems alot more personal. Nad I will admit the price helps to I am on a limited budget but I wanted the joy of my own doll. and by adpoting someone elses doll i know that i can help them out by giving them some cash to do what they have planned. Not that I don't have a wish list of stuf from the company sites. But if I find it second hand I would get it.

    8. All of my dolls except for my first boy have been bought through DOA, whether it be in auction or privately. I tend to fall in love with limiteds and it's my best chance of attaining them. Also if I'm looking for a certain mold and someone has it for sale then I would be more inclined to buy from them rather than brand new because I would feel like I was helping that person out by giving their doll a good home :)

    9. Double post! >.<

    10. Most of dolls are bought second hand.
I've bought from DoA, ebay, and Yahoo!japan. I've had expriences with all so far!

    11. I've bought both from E-bay & the MP here. The great thing about buying here on DoA is the feedback & getting to know the person you're buying from. For the ease of use, at least for me, & the protection of both parties, I like E-bay. And it's someone from here selling on E-bay it the best of both worlds.:) As long as I can pay w/ PayPal either is cool with me. I haven't had the courage to buy from Y!J yet.

As for why I buy second-hand a lot of the time it's because it's one of the harder to come by sculpts.

    12. Personally I love secondhand and new dolls I own both types. And I'm sorry for using second-hand if it offended anyone it was the best compromise i could think of between adopted and used. >.>

    13. eBay is reasonable price for me.

But Yahoo Japan have a lot of rare and precious items! Anyway, price is steap!

    14. I Like to Buy twice loved dolls off DOA. I have had very Pleasant experiences. The former owners take very Good care of the Dolls and are Thrilled to see the doll go to a Loving home. In my case, the former owners did not bond with their girls but were Happy to see their girls go to someone who really appreciate them.

    15. I voted DoA where I got most of my dolls, all but one are preowned. Amazingly enough the doll I most wanted (who is my avatar) was the Christmas Edition Nono that was made before I even started in BJD's. She just happened to come up on Ebay so I couldn't NOT purchase her.

And now I will have a previously loved Soo joining us who is another old edition. The one thing I am learning is a lot of the dolls that were made 3 and more years ago are actually a little better cast and more durable.

I had a couple new dolls and sadly the quality seems to be lacking in them, both were sold. Especially when you see people posting with resin cracking and joints chipping. That is unacceptable in something we all invest so much money and love.

    16. I was wondering, as I was being an E-Bay whore, how do you feel about purchasing a second hand doll. I remember seeing somewhere on wonderful E-Bay that someone was selling one of their dolls that they had for the money. Even if the person says that the doll was only on display, would you buy it??

Personally, I hate buying anything second hand. Unless it is way beyond cute and adorable, I don't even think twice about it. I don't know, I'm just really iffy about buying things second hand.

    17. The only way I'd buy a doll second hand, was if it came from someone here on DoA. I don't even have access to the marketplace yet, but I feel as though people here would be more trustworthy than those of Ebay. *shrugs*

But for other things, it depends on what it is. I wouldn't ever buy something like an iPod, or and Xbox 360, second hand. But I have purchased quite a few cheaper, less expensive things from Ebay.

    18. I have 2 1/2 second-hand dolls. I got 1/2 (DOC boy body) from someone here on DOA, one from eBay (non-DOA member) and one from someone locally. My Angel of Dream Rao was the one I got from eBay, and she was an incredible price ($50 off the AOD website price, and bidding had started much lower than that). She was also practically mint, as the previous owner had taken her out of the box, inspected her for damage and then put her back in the box for several months until she decided to sell. So sometimes deals are to be found. And AODs are less expensive dolls in the first place, so my risk wasn't huge. I'm not sure I'd buy a $2000 doll there, though.

The only problem I've had in buying second hand is the fact that my new DOC head and old-type body do not match. But that was my error for not doing enough research - not at all the fault of the seller or the transaction. I think I fail at switching doll parts, so I'm buying only whole dolls from now on (but that's a whole new topic, I suppose).

    19. I don't see or have any problem with buying dolls second hand. My NaNuRi '07, his Fantasy Doll body, and my Abio Angel Qi head are all second hand (off of eBay too). As long as the seller provides good, clear pictures, describes everything that's wrong (or not wrong, depending), and answers any questions I'm fine with it. Of course the buyer is responsible for researching what they're looking into purchasing as well just in case the seller may not know the answer to the question you have. All of my second hand purchases went smoothly. The seller I bought my AA Qi head from even let me know how old the head was so I could find a matching body easier.
To answer your question, yes, I would buy second hand. As long as good, clear pictures, an accurate description, and answers to any question I might have were provided (if the seller knows the answer of course).

    20. I dont think twice about it :chocoberry:chocoheart
..but as LupusDarkmoon said clear ,pictures are key and item description
Work with the seller ...or the buyer as it may be
I bought all my Unoa secondary ...exept my 1.5 ...who`s body I traded for a 1.0
(which I wouldnt have been able to buy )
my Kurt ...as the seller did layaway
a lot of my tinys are from the secondary market too ( funnily enough I prefere to call them Secondary Market than second hand ,that makes me think of old clothes ) LOL

but I also dont think twice about selling dolls I am not bonding with ..but again good pictures and communication ..its key to buying or selling

sometimes its the only way you can get what you want:)
