1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I have no problem buying a pre-owned doll. If it has been sold out, there is no other way to acquire it.

    2. I think All Of The Above should have been included.

But I went with where I did actually buy most of ...scratch that....ALL of my doll bodies and heads so far and that is DoA. DoA makes it very easy to put dolls on layaway or hold, sellers are usually willing to work with you, much unlike ebay. And they are more kind about it, unlike ebay. Ebay people (whether from DoA or not) are not usually willing to work with you, they put up an auction or buy it now and they excpect fast payment in whole. Well, given today's economy it's not possibly for all of us to spend like that. So yes, I buy here. And quite actually I get better deals here!!!! :D

    3. Y'know, I thought buying off second hand would be horrible.
But, it's cheaper and I actually am liking it.
there's some stuff you can't buy in stores. :O

    4. I now have 4 complete dolls, 1 body, and a head on the way. Of that, exactly 1 body was bought new! Everything other than that is secondhand. I feel like I got great deals on them, and I like that they have a bit of a "previous life". I'm just about ready to order my girl, finally, and I'm thinking I'll get her new - but it's partly because I haven't seen exactly what I want on the marketplace.

    5. There are so many really great dolls that come up on the DOA marketplace...ones that can be loved a second or third time by another doll family. :) I just bought my first twice-loved doll and I am happy with the purchase. The seller is awesome and so understanding!

    6. I have a few head and full twice loved dolls come threw my house. I find them like a lot of people to have somthing more about them then just straight from company dolls. i also love it due to getting some dream doll you might not get unless they come second hand.

    7. I love my preloved dolls. It makes them more special to me. My only "new" purchase was a Sooney from Pepestar on ebay. Everyone else is preloved (and now much loved). But it may also come down to I hate waiting for something I want, LOL so when I want it I want it now... Sooney, 12 preloved dolls and counting.

    8. I adore my adopted dolls!

As for where I adopt them from my first choice is from the Market Place on a local (ie Australian) doll forum, then DOA. The main reason the local forum wins out is that prices are generally in au$ and I can sometimes avoid postage fees by picking the doll up directly.

    9. My first doll came from a member here on DOA. I found her on ebay since I wasn't allowed in the marketplace at the time I found her. She was a blank doll and I saw potential in her. My surprise was on ebay most of the time you make a purchase it's sent to you then you leave feedback and theres nothing else...no other communication. The woman I bought my June from kept in constant touch with me. We discussed how I saw her what things I wanted her to wear everything. It was the sweetest expirience ever! I keep updating her on how June is too, I tell her that June is out for a face and post pictures to her when she's back. I love my June more than I could see me loving just a doll bought from a website because I had such a special expirience getting her.

Since June's purchase I decided to buy more pre-owned dolls because they were already loved and there's a certain comrodery we share together. You can't get this type of expirience from Luts or Soom, but from a person who has perviously loved that same doll and who wants to know how they are doing from time to time. It's also somewhat cost effective.

    10. Only one of my dolls is pre-owned, but I couldn't be happier with her; she came in perfect condition and I love her. I would not be adverse to buying another pre-owned doll, if I ever found another doll that I wanted (but for now, I am happy with what I have).

    11. My way looking at it: buy from store and you know you will get a brand new doll and you now what you will get. Buying second hand, you don't really now what you will end up paying for. It may be damaged that the owner did not tell about, it may be covered in mustard inside. You can never be 100% sure that the good will be like the seller says. But you can still find wonderful dolls in the second hand market :D I just think you can't ask to many questions when you buying second hand. I have one bought from company and one body fro second hand, both beautiful! But the one i bought second hand had some weird markings on her. Like someone tried to suede her, but didn't finished. I still love her though ^^ So, you can find great dolls in both ways I think.

    12. You know, for some reason I find it much easier to buy secondhand. I don't know if it's the immediacy, or the sense of "must buy now or it'll be gone" or what. I have exactly the right amount of money in my doll savings account to order my MNF Shushu, who I've been dying to have, but I keep chickening out before hitting "check out". Then I see a Shushu head on the marketplace, and another MNF with the body I want, and keep thinking "Oooh, maybe they'll split the body and I can get the head..." Even though I'd kind of prefer to order new so there'll be more time before she arrives to get her clothes and things together.

      I don't know what's wrong with me!

    13. I have two dolls because of the marketplace here. I got Anne new from the company through a dealer, and I love her to pieces. But as I kept browsing here, I realized how much I wanted a Lati White. No way I could afford to spend over $200 on a 10cm doll. And, after faceup, shipping, and wig, she would have been over $200. But I asked here, and tinybear sold me her sweet angel for $100, with a faceup she did and eyes and a wig she made (it's so soft!). My boyfriend bought it for me for my birthday, and now I have a sweetheart to take with me to classes and Anne to cuddle with at home. The next doll I want has a base price of $185, but I'm hoping to get lucky in the marketplace. Yes, the dolls hold their value well, but some people are willing to sell for a little less to go to a good home where they'll be loved. I don't really care if they're new or not. Anne was new, and it's wonderful to have her futon and box, but I want the dolls so much and I have so little money that, if it's exactly the one I want, I'm more than willing to buy one that's been well loved or neglected. Yellowing and scratches or nicks can be fixed a bit, and they lower the value of the doll, so I'm able to afford the doll and fix it up.

    14. well, seeing as how I'm a new member and I don't have access to the marketplace yet, I have found my frist few dolls through Flickr and websites given to me by friends.

    15. I've bought a second hand doll before (still have her). I'd say "twice loved" but I'm not sure how much loving she got (important bits of her body were sanded off in her joints). I don't have a problem with buying a previously owned doll. In fact, I'll most likely do it again sometime in the future.

(bought a whole doll off ebay, and a body from the DOA marketplace)

    16. I like buying second hand, just because people usually take good care of their dolls and they usually come with extras that you can't buy on the site at a price that's more reasonable than brand new. A majority of my collection is from company, but I'd have had no problem buying the ones that I have second hand if I could have found them. :XD:

    17. I answered this three years ago, but my answer is a bit different now!

These days I think twice before I purchase secondhand dolls. This is a bit hypocritical because I sell quite a few dolls in the Marketplace. But every time I send a doll out I painstakingly go over every bit of their body, making sure there is no dirt or stains. So many of the sellers I've dealt with have NOT shown me the same courtesy. I've received dolls with black marks all over their body, undisclosed stains in their faceups, and pedicures/manicures done without first sealing the resin. With the exception of the faceup stain I have been able to get everything off, but it's still stressful opening up a box and discovering this very expensive item hasn't been treated as well as you thought.

Now I only buy used if I have to, but when it comes to dolls I try to stick to Y!J. So far both of the dolls I bought used there (my Amakusa and Yuh) arrived in absolutely immaculate condition :).

    18. I personaly wouldnt mind buying second hand, ofcourse there is allways a risk with buying anything second hand
But I do find it important to know if the doll has been damaged or anything like that.

If I would consider buying second hand I would probably check out the marketplace here.
I probably wouldnt buy from ebay...but thats just how I think about it :3nodding:

    19. I think you have to be very careful from who you buy from. Don't look at the number of feedback on ebay, read it. I sold lookame her first bjd. Even though it was new, I relooked it over, just to make sure. Ask questions, ask questions, ask questions. Then when you are satisfied ask another. How did you get answered back? Politely, friendly or are you kidding me it's in the post? This is the best we have when it's internet.
I just bought 2 ovely MNF's from DOA, both preloved. First was a pleasnat experience, wonderful seller, second was great until she shipped, then ??? I got a ship info pm the day I got the doll, I was just leaving and here comes the mail. She shipped it a day early which was nice, but I like to know when they are getting to my home so I can be there.
Will I buy again from DOA, yes, I love the preloved dolls and many of them appeal to me. I buy from both DOA AND ebay. Remember ebay has some sort of protection. But on the same hand, I find an aweful lot of DOA members who sell are telling it like it is on the doll. We just need to be careful.
And lookame! I am so happy you had a great first bjd experience, LOL I love these dolls and love to share pics. (TTYS)

    20. By the way DanceCat, I sell a lot of dolls on ebay, I always give a layaway when needed. If you read my about me page it basically says I'll layaway anything. But you are right, that's just me. Most sellers make you pay right away, I ask you to email me and pay in 10. I have a repeat buyer who, LOL doesn't email in 3, but the payment is there on the tenth day!
