1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. I just recently bought my third (second to arrive home) doll from the DOA marketplace, and I was extremely pleased! I will definatly buy again second hand, plus there are some LE dolls I would love to have in the future and getting the second hand is my only option.

    2. I was always extremely wary to buy preloved dolls, my first 2 were new from the company...but one of my dolls wasn't sold anymore but I wanted her so much I had to find her on the marketplace. I was very lucky because the seller was perfect and the doll was too. This warmed me up to preloved dolls...now I actually look at the Marketplace when I consider buying a doll.

    3. I love buying pre-loved dolls and I haven't had a bad transaction yet *touch wood* I like re-homing dolls :)

    4. I found in love because of a second hand doll, and today my babies are all second hand, the only dolls I got from the original store I sold them because they mean nothing to me, I cant find them personallity or not sure about what I want for them. so I sold them to buy this doll I falled in love 1 years ago, and when I saw her again, she was on the marketplace for a long time, I tell myself: she is made to be mine.

Its all because of the faceup, the face... As a a lot of people say here, a second hand doll is not a piece of junk or something with less value, sometime they cost more than what they paid BUT sometime people dont take care of there doll and sold them. Sometime you can tell a old, yellow, broken, marked doll a second hand doll but its the fault of the owner to not take care of the doll.

The only place I would like to buy a doll its on DoA, because if I need more pictures of if I need more information, or if I want to see real feedback, not just a line like Ebay, I know that on DoA they are no stress and you can discuss a way of paiement and its easy to talk with the owner and etc, its the best way on my opinion

    5. I bought my Katie off of a fellow DoAer and we did refer to her as "pre-loved." Compared to a new doll, I did get her for a steal (she came with a faceup, eyes, wig, a pj set, and undies).

I think the "second hand" thing or the lower price come in (in certain cases) because of several factors (and I'm not refering to my doll, but just saying in general). It could be due to damage, yellowing, a need for restring or touch ups, or something simple like that. Mostly though, its probably because you don't get that "brand new doll" feeling when someone else has owned it and made decisions about how the doll will look. True, you can do whatever you want to the doll once you've got it, but its not the same blank slate you would have gotten straight from the company. I know that doesn't matter to some people, but it might to others.

I was so very happy to get my Katie, so it didn't matter that she wasn't brand new. It was her sweet little face that I fell in love with. And her previous hoomin was just so sweet, so I know she was loved and cared for. She has made a great addition to my brood.

    6. I only buy secondhand from DOA.
Honestly, I don't really trust those other sites >.>

    7. i bought second hand recently but i don,t see her as second hand but as , she moved at my house.

    8. I ticked "other" because I like to get them from anyplace I can find a good deal on them, be it DOA, eBay, Y!J (though finding a good deal there lately is not so easy with the fees and terrible exchange rate), or a friend.

I don't have a problem with the term "second hand" though. In general I'm not fond of pretty euphemisms. As a seller it's good to just go ahead and say "used" or "second-hand" to keep buyers' expectations in the ballpark. ^_~

    9. I have bought second hand dolls more than once about two years ago from the same collector. Twice she had dolls I wanted to but and to my delight they were here in the U.S. , didn't have to wait 5 or 6 weeks for the face-up. They look great. I also bought some other dolls from the same person, bjds that she had , that I saw in her sales that I liked , but had not see before. The only problem I ever had was not with a second hand doll, it was with a dollfie directly from the company.

    10. I have no problem purchasing 'certified pre-owned'. Dolls, doll heads, clothes, you name it... Most of it comes from Ebay, but I also purchase quite a bit from the Marketplace, and I got my Volks Genji head from Yahoo Japan. Truth be told, buying second-hand is usually the only way to get the doll or outfit I'm interested in.

    11. My first dolls were new... I didn't have a 2nd hand doll until I got into the hobby again last year. Then I discovered how much it freed your options as to what was available. I've been buying both new and 2nd hand dolls since, and they're all wonderful. I'm heavy on customizations anyway, so it's not as though they'll remain "NRFB" or anything!

I try to get dolls firsthand/new, then I check the DoA marketplace, then Y!J. :) Because of the exchange rate with the USD, I usually stick to the marketplace.

    12. I like pre-loved dolls. The two that I have both were pre-loved and they seem to have a lot of personality because of it.

    13. I love my second hand dolls... I don't know, I just like the thought of recycling and that my boy has character. I don't believe I'll ever buy from the company, it just seems like there's already enough dolls around to please everyone so why push for more? :)

    14. The majority of my dolls were pre-owned, sometimes that's the only way you can get a doll once they're all sold out. ^_^;

    15. I buy from a variety of sources... It's shame we can click just one option in this poll. I choose DoA, even though I don't have market access yet, because I know that's where I'll probably buy the most important items in the future. But for second hand clothing and wigs such I also use Ebay a lot, as well as the Dutch community I'm a member of, and I also have an account on a Yahoo Japan shopping service (noppin) that I might use when something great turns up.

    16. I have just received my DD Lily and I was afraid because she was second hand.
Description from the japanese seller said " she is not new and it should have damages". ( ok perhaps a bad automatic translation)
I can see nothing wrong on her !
I am very happy with her!
      Just my experience :)

    17. Buying a second hand doll just doesn't feel right for me. My girl has her own character and name. When I would sell her, she will be given a completely differend character and name. That makes me feel bad about it.
It's like changing someone elses feelings and character, ... That doesn't feel right to do.

    18. I bought my Ein from Luts, and my second doll is coming straight from Luts, too, but I have been eyeing up the DoA marketplace recently! ^^ There's a lot of dolls on there that I'd really like to buy... Just no money.

    19. I have a large chunk of my doll family that were secondhand/Twice loved if not 4 or 5 times loved before they came to me, Part of it makes me feel good when I can bring home a doll I've wanted for a while, perhaps at a better price, sometimes not, but it makes me twice as happy to rehome when it honestly helps whoever put it on the market

    20. I bought my much loved doll (BJD but not Abjd) through another forum as she was a limited edition and long out of production. I wanted her veryveryvery badly. Her "mommy" offered to "rehome" her with me. The cost of this doll everywhere I looked had increased by about 60%. The first owner (who was in Italy by the way) not only sold me a gorgeous doll, but also included all original paperwork, shipping box, satin carry bag, a wig, eyes, and three very cute outfits. The first owner did not mark up her doll so I feel I was treated exceptionally fair. I think I would do it again if I found another one like her that I just HAD to have.
      I love the term "rehome"
