Car seats ... do you use them?

Jan 10, 2009

    1. Hmmm~ I was thinking if I needed it I'd get a booster seat and sit several dollies side by side. =3

    2. Umm I would never drive around with my toy in a baby car seat next to me. That sounds like a whole new level of crazy I don't want any part of.

If I'm taking my doll to a friend's house I'll just stuff her in my purse or lay her on the passenger seat.

    3. no!! I use a lil bag for them (I only have tiny dolls)

    4. I use a safety belt. Its bad enough I bought an umbrella stroller for park meets. If I got a car seat everyone at work would really think I was preggors.

    5. The only time I ever want to purchase baby stuff... is if I'm having one.
Car seats? Strollers? That's getting a little too wierd for me!

    6. I find this idea really... Disturbing.

I love my dolls as dolls/pretty posessions only, I can't imagine doing something for which the intention is to pretend I have some kind of human company from them. If you pretend they are alive, doesn't that just set yourself up for disappointment and loneliness when you get nothing back? Or would you just constantly fantasize that you were getting a response and thrive on that?

I'll never go near that line, let alone cross it.

    7. I just sit mine in the passenger seat n_n against my messanger bag with something to cover them if the son is out. They always sit very nicely.

    8. im not planning on it.
but at toys r us in the baby doll section there is a minature car seat that would fit a bjd. ive only ever seen it in bright pink and black for about $21.
      its been a joke that ill get one once he gets here. i dont think so. ^^;

    9. I also hide mine away in a nice cushy bag. A car seat seems like a lot of work to put in and take out everytime you want to go somewhere with your doll(s). Unless you don't usually give people rides, and you could leave it in.... Hm interesting idea though.

    10. Er, no. I occasionally buckle my dolls (or a doll) into the passenger seat on my car, but that's only when I'm too lazy to get out a carrier and don't want the doll to slide around on the seat.

    11. I think it's a cute and fun idea. To me it would look more to scale if the doll was buckled into a smaller seat than with the normal seat belts, and if it's in the style of a chair and not the ones where small babies lie in. I guess it would also be more convenient if you can keep it in the car.

    12. My dolls ride in their carriage bags in the car. I wouldn't like the direct sunlight, or the possible risk, of having them in a carseat.

That aside, depending on how zealous the law enforcement is where one lives, having a special carseat for your doll could end up a big hassle. Small children are supposed to be in the back seat. If you have an infant or toddler seat affixed in the front, you may get questioned. An infant seat even moreso, since they are supposed to be in the back seat, facing backwards. If you go ahead and position the seat that way, you won't be able to see your doll anyway, so there's not much point.

    13. I already have a car seat/booster in the car. The only oddity I might have with my boy is my daughter insisting that he gets buckled in the back seat of the car with her. :XD: I think she thinks of him like a little brother.

I would not buy a car seat for him, seat belt or bag is good enough if I'm driving, in my lap is fine if I'm not.

    14. I don't know where, but someone told me that not only did some people use car seats but they made a "BJD on Board" car-window-thing (like the yellow diamond shape one?) as opposed to the original "Baby on Board" sign.

Haha. I would love to find that and use it.

    15. that sounds adorable~

    16. Nope, they stay in bags when traveling as they are much better protected that way if things go flying about the cabin in a wreck. It is kinda a cute idea, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with them that way.

    17. Mm, nope - Adri can carry my doll around in the car until I get him a carrier - I'm not so much worried about yellowing as i'm intending on changing his entire skintone anyways...
But car seats just strike me as a bit... weird.

    18. Sure, make me feel bad. I had Hisui laying down on the car seat, no belt, no box, just "there". Mind you there wasn't a lot to mess up at the time, having her sort of nude and covered up, and no wig on her head. I felt pretty confident nothing would happen to her. But now all her clothing and wigs are in I'd...yeah, be more cautious and put her in a backpack of sorts maybe?

    19. I've put Kari in my friends booster seat.

    20. This is a really good point. There is a good chance that on a slow day or during one of those times (which we all know happen) when the police are having a ticket-writing spree, you could end up getting stopped. I doubt you would get a ticket, but getting stopped would be a real pain, especially if you were trying to get some place on time.
