It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Changing your doll's name

May 16, 2006

    1. My DollZone Wilka was "Omi"... for about two weeks;) Unfortunately he doesn't fit the character. I've found a better mold and decided to sell my Wilka... but since almost two months have passed and no one seems interested, I am wondering if I should keep him-- in this case he gets a new name and personality:)

    2. My Kalix started off as T'ien T'sang, because I thought a Chinese name would suit him, but then after a week or so, that one didn't seem to fit quite right. Then for about three weeks he was Fou Lou, and that one seemed a bit off aswell :doh Eventually, after playing around with alot of names, Xero stuck, because he decided he didn't want to sound Chinese at all :sweat

So, I guess I have no problem changing a dolls name, if you know you'd be unhappy with the current one.

    3. I had to change Miyu`s name to Yurei, because she became other character than I intended. She was never pleased with being cute little Miyu the catgirl, and is now vicious little Yurei the ghost. Talk about doing a complete turn... :sweat

    4. I had a choice of Raphael or Prince (from Star of Cottonland, lol) and I had to call him Prince because I already HAD a character called Raphael...
Whose name I had to change to Libra because my boyfriend called him that for the 3 months I thought about, bought and waited for him.

Alas, once they're stuck, they're stuck.

    5. I've sort of wanted to change Phyllis' name since I think it hadn't got very good connotations in the era she's "from" (the Victorian era) but I've had that name for my character for ages and I'm not going to change it now. The name's become a sort of part of her personality.

    6. I tend to change my doll's names/characters every now and then.
^^ If I want something new, it's a bit easier that selling and then buying a whole new doll....

    7. Other than the initial change of last name for my Chiwoo (it was immediately after purchasing him), I haven't ever changed their names, and I don't think I could. I connect my dollies soul to that specific mold. It would be awkward to change it. I might if I get a new one that doesn't fit the mold, but otherwise, no.

    8. I've always found naming dolls a hard thing for me because most of my dolls represent and look like feelings I associate them with. But if it helps me bond with them better I would change the name into whatever I think suits them more. And besides, if people can change, why can't dolls? :)

    9. I don't really change my dolls' names once they're home with me. If a doll was pre-loved, I don't keep the original name (I don't think). I prefer to have them tell me who they are, so they don't get named until I open the box and say hello. :D

    10. When I´ve made name changes I´ve found the opposite is true - I was trying to force a name that I liked on a doll, rather than finding their name.

I think if you find a name that suits a doll better or should be their real name then it should be changed.

My RS Long is currently being called Caine, but I don´t know if that´s his real name or just a temporary one.

    11. I've had one doll who constantly had her name changed. I was never pleased with any of the ones I'd picked, they never felt right. I eventually sold her but even until the actually sale, she never had the same name for long. I guess that was just her way of telling me "We aren't bonding and we never will!" lol. As for my other dolls, their names just came and stuck.

    12. I originally wanted to call Sarang "Ayumi", but it never stuck, so thats how it was... I wish I could force names by will though (but maybe subconsciously I felt Sarang suited her more, being Korean and all. -___-;;;.)

    13. My dolls names are tricky, I find. They're such unique individual personalities that it's difficult to nail for me. XD

    14. My first doll had her name changed many times. I that was because I couldn't bond with her. :(
Now I think I'm going to hell her soon.
Now I always try to make a really strong character before I even think what doll I want to put to that character, so that what happened with my first won't happen again.

    15. Okay I have a SR charles mod and not only have I changed her name FOUR times now but I've also changed her sex from boy to girl.

      And now I'm in the process of changing her character again. ^^;

    16. I've had the same character for over a year and I'll be selling the doll at the end of this year but the owners are keeping her look, name and charater so I might have to change my OC's name, it would be senseless to have two of the same doll, lol.

    17. Only ones that were changed (well more like undefined for ages) were my Chaim's and my Bix' names. My Chaim was kinda nameless eventhough I wrote down names for him. It took a new face up and definition of his character before he became Sakarj. My Bix also had various names which halfassed fit his character. When I sold my Onyx, his story came undone. I sent him off for a new face up, bought him clothes, reworked his connection to the others and then only Kjartan remained as a fitting name. All my dolls' names are referals to their characters, so it's really hard for me to name them if I'm not sure of their personality yet.

    18. I agree. Some of my dolls have had a lot of different names before settling on a permanent one and the reason for that is that I've been pushing names on them that I like, but aren't cut out to be their real names.

My floating heads have names, but those are definitely subject to change when their bodies arrive!

    19. Oh I have done it and I plan to do it again if the one doll doesn't sell. But it's just you have a idea in mind and after awhile they tell you they aren't that one they are another so you roll with it. Fun of the hobby #12

    20. Only after much thought and I usually keep the original name as a middle or nick name. Right now I'm going back and forth between changing the name of my Heath >_<
