Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Changing your doll's name

May 16, 2006

    1. The doll that I do have actually is being called by the nickname she uses in her older years. So, when I make an SD version of her, she will go by her real name. The problem is, no one can pronounce Mariska, so I'll keep it with her nickname for now. But it'll change later. x3

    2. I'm thinking about giving my Soony Kana a new name once she's back from getting her face up. I like her name but it might not fit her once she has a new face. Most of my dolls have had their name changed at least once. Until they are complete with the clothes, face, wig and eyes I want them to have they usually just have a name for name sake. lol

    3. I toyed around with the name of my Old B&G Freya for a long time. For a while, she was just Freya, then I contemplated a few different names, but I never really settled on a name. When I got my new Freya, I thought to make them sisters, but they never took to the names. Now that I am selling my old Freya, the names I chose for them as sisters didn't really work out. Maybe Freya will just have to remain Freya!

    4. I was thinking about changing mine's too. My friend's thinking the same thing.
I think it's more that once you have a doll for a while, you get to "know" it better, and it's "personality". Sometimes you realize that's not what it's name was meant to be, so you change it. :3 That's why people change their names too I think. All because you were named that at birth doesn't mean that it suits you! ^o^

    5. I've changed his name a few times already. He's gone from Avalon to Haine to Cyril and a bunch of nicknames to go with it. I think a name change could simply be a part of bonding? Finding a perfect name for a doll you haven't bonded with yet isn't quite common, so I think its natural if the name changes over time.

    6. I haven't had my girl for very long, but as the first few days went by, I realized that she just wasn't going to work as the character I thought she was. I was calling her by the old name until day before yesterday, but I knew that my shushu wasn't ever going to be my steampunky Eleanor. So now her name is Jamina, though mostly she seems to want to go by Mina.

    7. I'm glad that I found this thread. I had been wondering how accepted it was to change a doll's name...

I love my first bjd, and before I bought him, I told myself I would make my first one a character from my comic.

I got him, I've been calling him Thanial [the character's name] for over a month now... But now that I've started to bond with him, I really don't feel like he fits Thanial.

      I've decided I'm going to change his name, but I don't know what to change it to yet. I was wondering how everyone felt about changing names, or if that was a sort of "taboo" thing to do. I'm glad that it seems most of you guys aren't too opposed to it. >_<;;

Now I need help deciding a new name, but I'll probably wait till after I redo his faceup. =]

    8. I have, but I've actually done more than that. I switched the character she was intended to be entirely!! ^0^ She just suited her new character more. :)

    9. Yeah, that's what I'm going to be doing. I'd like to get a different doll that fits my character Thanial more, and make the one I have into something new. I don't quite know what yet, but I think I'll just have fun with it and let my imagination go. :3nodding:

    10. I wanted to change Lestat's name, since i have no desire to have him be a cosplay of the vampire Lestat from The Vampire Chronicles, but the people kept calling him Lestat, and he became known to me as Lestat, so no other name i came up with sounded good.

I do have a few planned dolls, however, that might switch names a few times after i get them since they will be hard to name. Just depends on how it sounds, how easily i can call them that, and so on.

    11. I've done it with a few of my girls. Sometimes a name fits them when I first get them, but once they've made their personalities known and what not, they needed a name change to fit what they've become.

    12. I tried to change my doll's name, however my sister's and I still continue to call him by the original name. I guess the old name is still stuck in our heads. In the end i decided to just keep the original name. >.>

    13. I've almost 100% decided to change his name from Thanial to Akio. I want to sit on it a few days, but the more I spend time with him, the more it feels like Akio fits best. I just don't want to change his name a zillion times. I think I'll be fine with once, but more than that, and I'd feel bad, like he has some constantly changing personality disorder, or an indecisive "parent". XD

    14. Um...I changed Rae's name like 4 times...(he was a girl then...and none of them fit so i gave him a boys name...i like it!)

    15. I gave my Megu the name along the lines of Megumi of A Thousand Lotus Blossoms, but she told me she was Hungarian and her name is actually Erzsebet. A big mistake on my part.

Similar thing happened with my Larme. He was Darcy before he arrived, but sternly told me when he got here he is in fact Eldritch. I said "OK, I'll call you Eldritch."

I really have no say here...

      *pulls hair out*

    16. lol
I spent ages trying to figure out a name for my first male doll, he kindly informed me his name was Griffin, would have been nice if he thought to tell me soon. ;)

    17. both my dolls have very interesting name/character stories...
my Haru's original name was Reimu, later changed to "no name doll", then Haru (her mold is a kid delf ARU, i just added an H in front of it XD easy naming when you have no ideas.)
Purple was originally named Lilith, then Seven, then, at last, her actual character Purple.
in my opinion, changing various names and characters when you feel that something doesn't fit is a good idea to find a good character for your doll and bonding :)

    18. I've never changes Raun's name before, but I still want to givew her a middle and last name.
      I don't think it's that bad changing a doll's name.
      Doll's personalities change over time.

    19. It depends on how old/established the character is for me. My Namu's character recently jumped ahead in development, and I changed the name from Andel to Andon to be more correct geographically. The character my Zaoll Luv is intended for was originally going to be Irish fae, but informed me recently that she's Japanese, so the name changed there as well. It seems perfectly natural to me to change names when an old one no longer suits the doll/character.

    20. I changed my DZ hid's name. I had a character in mind when I ordered him but a while after getting him I felt that he didn't suit that character but actually suited another character I had in mind...so I changed his name :) from Amon to Armand.
and recently I found a mold that suited my Amon character, so now I own a DZ Mo now known as Amon :)
