Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Changing your doll's name

May 16, 2006

    1. I've only changed a doll's name once. And it was a rather small change. xD (From Jill to Jilligan. Though everyone calls her Jill anyway.)
And then I've added names. Joy was originally supposed to be the character's only name but I decided that her real name would be Felicia and Joy is only an alias she uses to ensure that Somnia would not find her. :3

Oh wait.. There IS Niteria whose original name was supposed to be Glow.. Oh well! She didn't even have a head at the time so it prolly doesn't count, ne?

    2. An OT doll I got when I was a kid, I changed the name. It was Zoe, but I changed it to Michelle.

    3. I've never changed a dolls FIRST name before, but I've changed the middle before.

well, the only time I've changed a first name is for a doll I don't have yet.... does that count? His name has gone from "Jordan" to "Geordinne" and now to "Geordin" - still pronounced the same way. Geordin Shea Mitchell Rush. But that's because I already had an Addalynne and I didn't want too many "-nne" names....

    4. Ive already think about changing my characters name but ill never be able to do it because when I give them a name its like they 'own' this name and its will totaly change them ^^'

    5. I don't think I ever could, personally. I have an emotional attachment to my dolls, so changing my dolls name would be like changing the name of a baby xD I'm not saying no one should, but for me I just couldn't do it.

    6. For my Liam the name of his mold became the part of his family name ))

    7. I changed the name of my dolls.
The oldest one, was two months, my other 1 and one was on the way. I didn't like their names so I changed them aswell as their ethnicity, now they feel more like themselves. I would never do it again, it was very hard and sad for me to do so.

    8. Doll names usually just pop into my head, but I have a couple of dolls that I've struggled to name and those are the ones that later have changed.

    9. nope..i never change my daughter's name ever since i first own her

    10. Ehhh, I'd only change the name of a doll if I was completely changing the faceup/outfit. Because they wouldn't be the same doll anymore. But even then only if it really suited it...

    11. I haven't changed his name, though I have changed the names of my characters once or twice. Sometimes, as they change, their original name is no longer fitting and it just needs to be done. The same is true for both people and dolls, I think.

    12. I will admit though, I debating keeping my dolls name the name of his mold (he's a DZ Luke) because it seemed so fitting. But eventually I decided on Isaiah. Unfortunately, I later found out that someone on here has the same dolls with the same name. Ooh well! Great minds think alike! ><

Also, I got a FL Puki Piki for my mom as her first doll, and later text her to ask what she had named it.
      John.
      She named a puki. John.
I was soo confused. So if I ever come into possession of that doll, I'm renaming him in an instant. I already discussed with my dad (the two are seperated) that if I owned a puki, I'd name it after a sound. Like Plop, or Bing, or something cute. But, John??

    13. it's very differicult to changing the doll's name i got too much name for the doll

    14. This is a very timely topic for me, since I've just changed the names of two of my dolls! ^_^ Despite having lived in my house for about half a year, I had had a really hard time figuring out their backstories and personalities, so I didn't bond with them really well. Once I got over the original plan that they HAVE to be in the same story, the two dolls "parted ways", evolved into different characters, got their names changed, and are now happily living separate lives. ^^;; I also bond with them more easily nowadays.

And it was kinda a drastic name change too! For example, my mini doll was at first named Serafina, but now she's Shizuka. But with "Shizuka" being the official name of another doll (but she was never called that), this other doll got her name modified as well: her nickname has become her official name! *_*

    15. Some dolls are more secretive than others. I've had some that simply announce who they are the moment I see them, and one right now who is slowly revealing more about his character as time goes on. I'm not yet positive that I have the right name for him, but I think I'm getting closer <3

    16. I did. I left the hobby and when I returned, I decided to completely change the name and the character of my Topaz.

    17. Well I originally had 'Kane' planned for my MD Ryu, and stayed that way for awhile, untill I got my Elfdoll Lydia to go with my others, then he finally got his body (he was a floating head for ages), and well previously, I had always had 2 characters named Tamsen Oakly, and Alex Green. I had already named my Elfdoll Lydia Tamsen Oakly, when I got her. 'Kane' then just seemed so right for the part of Alex Green, that I have now changed it to that.
I did feel iffy about it for a couple of months. Thinking hmm, maybe I should just wait till I get another doll and base that one on Alex. But to be honest, I don't really plan to buy another SD anytime soon. And well if the shoe fits..take it I say XD

Like everyone else said, If you feel they should be named something else, then change it. Either that, or it will be niggling you for ages, and it won't feel right.

    18. I have done this. My doll was first named Ivory Montrachet. But as I didn't really bond with her, even though I loved her sculpt, I changed her overall design, gave her a new face-up, a new wig, new eyes, a new clothing style. Now I simply adore her.

Her new name is Ophelia Goodchild.

    19. well Emily's first name was Mair-ah which is a character of mine, but the character would not stick, so one morning I looked at her and told myself that I was going to find a new character. So every week I changed her name till I found one I really liked. That's how Emily got her name.

    20. Usually I settle with one chosen name, but this is difficult when it comes to my floating heads for some reason... I've changed their names like..3 times..? -_- I guess it's a lot harder because I need to see them whole, and get a sense/feel for their "character" before the name sticks, because I don't base my dolls off pre-existing RP characters, etc.
