Chantal - Souldoll Zenith Girl!

Dec 4, 2009

    1. How exciting! I can't wait to see pictures Twigling!
I still have 2 more payments on my girl.............

    2. Allison, would you believe Chantal flew out of Korea only 30 minutes after my Soom Dia, and Dia was delivered yesterday (Friday), but Chantal lingered in customs and won't be delivered till Monday?? I guess it's for the best.. having the arrivals spread out a bit, but arrgh!

    3. Ah man, she's soo close to ya, twigling! I look forward to seeing pictures of her!

    4. Crazy! I'm so jealous you're getting yours already!
I am dying to see pictures!

    5. No pix yet, but initial observations:

Her head is too "cute" for me, so I'll be using another head. Body is very tightly strung, so poses well. The hands look weird, very long fingers and narrow/small palms and wrists. But big, beautiful feet. Neck is kinda short, neckhole placed too far forward. Really pretty nose and lips, no cheekbones. She reminds me a little of a large version of a 43cm Narae. Torso joint is quite stiff and doesn't allow for much movement.

Chips of resin falling out as I pose her, probably remnants from drilling out the stringing channels? I would like to loosen up her elastics a little bit and probably suede her, as there are already lighter marks on the balljoints from rubbing very tightly in the sockets.

ETA: I have restrung her with longer elastic, she came with extra elastic. So now the torso has a lot more give and can pose and be moved, but the joints are still very squeaky. Sueding someday after I get a chance to sand her. Also swapped out her weird hands with Dollmore Adam Dollpire (the ones with the long nails) hands, and I think she will work with Dollmore Model HH feet.

I do like this doll/body a lot, but it's no feeple. I'm making a neck-shim/riser so I can put the head I want on it; Soom Dia. I think out of the box it would be a great body if you're wanting to up-scale an Elfdoll girl via head-swapping.

    6. I like the souldoll head, but am a little worried it will be too small for the body. How does it look to you and what size wig do you think it takes?

    7. Chantal's head looked okay for the body; I'd say she takes a 7/8 or 8/9 wig ~ I tried on both sizes, and 7/8 is a better fit, but 8/9 works if the wig is elastic, and you use a rubber band, and maybe tuck the ears inside the wig.

Oh, and the Dollmore Model high heeled feet do not fit properly without modding, but the proportions are good.

The elbows and knees have little lock-notches on both the top and bottom. The elbow joint bends about 90 degrees at each point, but the arm won't bend to more than a 45 degree sharp angle. The knees bend to less than 90 degrees at each point, so to sit with her legs bent normally, you will need to engage both ends of the knee joints.

    8. Is it possible for you to post some owners pictures of her? I'd love to see the basic sculpt. Which head do you plan to put on her body? Is souldoll a pinky normal skin?

Also forgot to ask, what do you think of the knees in person? They look a little odd but I figured it could be the blushing adding to the effect.

    9. Really? I'd never considered her since she was so tall, but if her own head is that little it might work. Any idea about how good the resin match is?

    10. Pictures of blank, nude Chantal, and comparison of Chantal and Dia heads.

Pics of Dia on Chantal body with home-made neck riser.

Chantal's body compared to a Fairyland Feeple girl.

      Hands comparison #1, #2, #3.

It's a pinkish normal colour, matches pretty well with Soom resin. The Dollmore hands I've put on her are more pale, but it doesn't bother me.

Hobbysue, I don't mind the knees.. the locking notch is annoying but also necessary. They do look smooth, I might carve in some kneecap detail, maybe? Although if she's going to wear long pants, I might not bother.

My samples of Elfdoll resin aren't that new, but I think it would be an okay match.

    11. I had no idea her head was so small compared to her own body, well I guess this is not the doll for me to get after all, she really looks wonderful on the Soul Doll website:sweat

    12. @ Derilan85 - don't be too quick in judging....people said the same thing to me about Chirons head and his head does seem small compared to his body yet when you put everything together he looks awesome and not ill-proportioned at all.

I'm still really excited about getting my Chantal :)

    13. A lot of Souldoll heads are small compared to other doll company heads, but there are also sculpts like SoulDouble Hye (and in fact most of the double girls) who seem big for their bodies. Chiron and Hewer also look equally good on their own bodies as they do on the the souldouble boy bodies.

    14. Twigling - thanks so much for posting those photos, they are exactly what I needed to see. The comparison shots are especially helpful. Thanks!!!!!

My problem is that I'd like her as a match for my Soom Sabik and I don't think the head would work. I have a feeple body as well, and I like it a lot more than the Souldoll body. I guess it's back to the drawing board for now, or maybe wait for Soom to introduce a girl that I like enough as a match for Sabik.

Edit: By the way, until I saw Twiglings photos, I'd never noticed what chunky thighs she has.....

    15. Hobbysue, you might like the new sculpt I am working on for your Sabik. It's a long way from being ready to show, but she is bigger... she has a big head with wide eyes, like Saiph, and an EID-esque body; about 65cm tall, but a little more youthful.

Also, how does you Idoll Alice look together with Sabik?

    16. thank you Twigling for the pics and review! I am a fan of the 55cm doubles and was wondering how the zenith girls were. your Dia looks really nice on that body!

But it seems a bit odd that she lacks the thigh joint that the double girls have. that helps so much with posing.

    17. gwenithcoy- Yea.....your right she looks so incredible on the website, maybe I'll wait for more owner pics especially with default makeup and wig then I'll see if she could re-shell one of my beloved girls:)

    18. My I-doll Alice looks like a healthy well-fed girl next to skeletor. LOL. She's a bit too chunky for him. That's why I was interested in Chantal, she looked a lot more slender. I'm very interested in the girl you're sculpting. Sounds like precisely the type I look for. I've got an Akando but haven't gotten him a female yet. I like Yur so far out of all the females, but I wouldn't say I'd fallen hugely in love with her face. The I-Doll Alice I've got has quite an apricot skin so makes Akando look a little pasty.

    19. Very informative pictures, Twigling! Thank you!

Chantal was on my wish list but I think I may take her off. There's something about her body that really bugs me-I think it's that she looks really short-backed-kind of squished together in the middle.

    20. Thank you Twigling for the comparison I love the heaviness of the bum and thighs from the back but I don't love the elbows or the face. I really like the Feeple body for the height.
I can't wait to see your new sculpt.
