1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. oh Wow! Good looking fellas there O_o I'm also curious as to what molds are they? Or...wait a minute. Did the owner of that site, sculpt those heads? O_O

Anyway, Dollfie Dreamer. If you have an enquiry regarding identifying a mold, it's better to be in the BJD Picture Request Dolls to get more answers :)http://www.denofangels.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=76

    2. I've thought about it and while I think it's cool, I find characters dolls a little limiting on my own creativity. I can't make up an elaborate backstory for a character doll, because the character already has one and I feel uncomfortable messing with other people's characters. (and yet I have no problem with completely un-canon fan art/fiction.) ^^'

    3. i always want that they can make a doll as"Tsukihime"= =```````

    4. I originally thought about making some of my favourite characters into dolls, but ultimately decided against it as it would cost too much, and my favourites has to come as pairs (Cloud and Tifa from FF7, Abel Nightroad and Lilith Sahl from Trinity Blood, Ichigo and Orihime from Bleach, etc).

Even though I have a Zack Fair MnM, I decided against keeping him as Zack, because I'd be constantly reminded of his fate in Crisis Core (hence I haven't been able to finish playing it yet).

The two dolls I'm currently saving for, originally they were supposed to stand in as another pair of favourite characters (Makie and Anotsu from Blade of the Immortal), but again, decided against that, and just created their characters/relationship based on their BotI counterparts (although I'm open to them cosplaying as those characters in the future).

    5. I didn't think I would ever have one, and then I inadvertantly ended up with one. I was playing around one night with my paints and decided a luwen would make a good nuada from hellboy. It was supposed to be a quick photoshoot thing and wipe.... its been two years and hes still haunting my house. I have reached some level of peace with it tho. I try and limit them to just a head, and so a few of my dolls will share a body. i feel less bad about it when I can pack up a head and their clothes and switch it out for an original char now and then.

    7. The first resin I ever bought was a MNM Cloud Strife head. Still got the sucker, although he's being upgraded to an EID Evan next year. So yes, I'm big on character dolls when I'm a hardcore fan. I look at putting them together the same way I look at cosplay; a challenge to overcome! Finding wigs, eyes, the perfect sculpt, making outfits...I enjoy the challenge. While I'll probably only have two (Cloud and Aeris), I don't find them limiting at all. I have more OCs than I know what to do with, so sometimes it's nice to have that solid image to follow that doesn't change whenever inspiration strikes.

    8. Both of my dolls are, in some way, "character dolls". My AoD Wang Zi is modeled after Cho Hakkai from the anime/manga Saiyuki. :D My BBB Espree is going to be an AR!Fuuchouin Kazuki from Get Backers (from the canon alt!verse wherein Kazuki is a girl, lol).

I don't think I would buy "official" character dolls, though, like the FFVII ones, though... I prefer to make my own, especially since my fandoms tend to be smaller and more obscure. :P

    9. Ten of my twelve BJD are my personal resin version of several Oda Eiichiro's manga and anime series One Piece main characters. Only two, my MNF, are my own creation ones. Next the list of who is each mold among my character dolls of this type.

      - CP Luts Delf Soo Sp, NS: Nami, the navigator.
      - CP Luts Delf Shiwoo, NS: Monkey D. Luffy, the captain.
      - CP Luts Delf Chiwoo + Iplehouse Boy Body - Muscle type, NS: Sanji, the cook.
      - CP Luts Delf El + Unidoll UBr-01(Real Body), NS: Roronoa Zoro, the swordsman.
      - CP Luts Delf Tanning Lishe: Nico Robin, the archaeologist.
      - CP Luts Delf Yder, NS: Usopp, the sniper.
      - CP Luts Delf Soony, NS: Nefertari Vivi, the queen of Arabasta.
      - BuddyDoll W-Buddy Jiny, WS: Kaya, future doctor.
      - Luts Senior Delf Abadon LE, RS + Delf Body BOY Type 1, NS: Kohza, the commander.
      - Dollmore Glamor Model Dol, NSl: Franky, the shipwright.

    10. I lot of my choices are based of chracters I like....that and their vesitility to change for cosplay as well as be themselves

    11. I have a souldoll Chiron that I dress up as either my original character or Inui from Prince of Tennis. ^_^ I quite like having fan dolls or letting my dolls 'cosplay'. It's fun, really.

    12. i really don't think a real character doll would fit in with my bunch of nobodys (lol). my dolls fit together so well i would hesitate to add a doll with a story already. my need for fantasy is too great to be stymied by an already formed character.

    13. When I just started looking at BJDs, I thought it'd be extremely cool to have a character doll (but in this case I was thinking of getting a sculpt you like and then turning it into the character you wanted it to be, not really Minimees). After some time, including now, I don't think I'll get one. I have nothing against them and I find it fun to look at what other people can do to make their dolls what they want but I just feels that it limits my creativity a bit. I am considering letting some of my future dolls cosplay a pre-existing, non OC, character it's just that it won't be "forever" for them.

But who knows, I might end up with one unexpectedly, haha. It's just I have no plans for one right now.

    14. Yeppers! I have a Seifer Almasy MNM (of Final Fantasy VIII fame), and truth be told, he's such a strong character to me that I could never see him as anyone else. While my incoming Cloud MNM may someday find himself completely revamped, Seifer will always be Seifer. There's no help for it - I wrote FF8 fanfic for years before getting into the BJD scene. :doh

    15. Although I have no plans or desire to have my doll base off any character in particular, I'd dress him up as Baron from The Cat Returns cause I will only ever have anthro dolls ^^''

    16. Wow, just checked out your crew and they're really close to the originals, absolutely amazing! Great Job! Also, I really admire your passion and dedication for them

      *salute

would love to see chopper as a BJD too someday :)

    17. No, I can't commit to a solid character doll... Instead, I just let my dolls cosplay whenever I feel like dressing one of them up as a character. :) Then I get it out of my system, and nobody has to get his name or faceup changed.

This can entail a whole spectrum of effort (or lack thereof), from commissioning proper Juvenile Orion uniforms, to cutting up a $10 stuffie for Herakles and his Nemean Lion. It's all about what I feel in the mood for. ^^ I just like things that I can "undo" at the end of the day.

(Hehe, this thread is so old... the OP noticed that character dolls "[aren't] done too often at all"... XD Times sure have changed since August '06!)

    18. I do not have nor care to have dolls that are based off of any characters created by someone else. However, when creating the characters for my dolls, I do pull inspiration and ideas from the characters I admire in books and movies. But in the end, my dolls are still no were near being like the characters that inspire me, they are quite different.

    19. I have a few that I can't talk about here (1/6 scale fashion/action figure dolls) which are "character" dolls.

    20. I have both original and non-original characters. I wouldn't feel comfortable having something like 30 original characters, because I find it difficult to keep a story with that many characters understandable. Still, I don't like the idea of having many stories either. I don't know why, it just doesn't feel right. ^^'

I'm planning to make doll-versions of some characters from Kingdom Hearts (Org. XIII, Riku, Naminé, "Ansem wannabe" (as I like to call him) and Ansem the Great. Maybe Sora and Kairi too but I'm not too sure about them. :p ) and Final Fantasy (Sephiroth, Kadaj and his brothers, Luneth).
A Zora from The Legend of Zelda would be kinda sweet too. >3<
      Why? Because I want to!

(Sadly, I only have heads for three Org. XIII members, and two of them are still in the need of some modding. ;.; )
