Character Dolls (based on fictional or other preexisting characters)

I would consider doing an occasional cosplay sometime in the future for Blind Mag in Repo! The Genetic Opera. But not a permanent character-doll. I love all sorts of anime and movies, but I would rather have dolls representing my own OCs and occasionally cosplaying as a certain character than I would to have a doll devoted to a character that doesn't belong to me.

 

I've also started considering a tiny Sokka, from Avatar:The Last Airbender. (The cute tan animated version, not the whitewashed movie blather)

 

I would love to have an avatar based doll. I have a OOAK sculpt that someone done for me but a doll would be awesome!!!!

 

eventually i want to have Imriel de la Courcel no Montreve in doll form. And possibly his Sidonie as well. They're from Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series (the second trilogy).

 

I'm not really fond of Minimees or calling and having my doll be a replica of an existing character or person. I would very much prefer to have original characters but they can have characteristics based or "inspired" by existing people or characters.

 

My first and current doll is based on Walter Bernhard from Castlevania Lament of innocence. My next victum will be a AoD Jimi whom I intend to make into Joachim Armstar from the same series. I intend to make them their outfits, armor included and even Joachim's 5 swords (how I'll get them to levitate?..I have no idea...yet XD) , and mod them to have their vampiric fangs. It's going to take some time but gosh it'll be so worth it in the end!

 

I would love to cosplay dolls one day, or maybe even buy a doll specifically for a character, but I don't know if I ever would ^^; Whenever I see character dolls I always want one, though. I suppose it's a desire.

 

I have Volks' MDD Ushiromiya Maria from Umineko no Naku Koro ni, and I love her!

I also plan to make a Beatrice someday, unless Volks does it for me! ^^;

 

I want to, but I don't think for me anyway it'd be worth it in the long run since hey, who doesn't lose interest in a certain fandom from time to time? ((Which led me to making my own character instead.)) I don't want to lose interest in the doll due to loss of interest in fandom.

 

I would love a bunch of character dolls, and perhaps one day when money grows on trees I will have dolls based on Robin of Sherwood (michael Praed) Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Chris Cornell, Steerpike (Johnathan Rhys-Meyers) and Jimi Hendrix, I'm not concerned about their wardrobe being limited, as I know sewing clothing for these characters, especially the 60's oneswould be so much fun.

 

I'm currently saving up for a dollfie dream, and it'd be awesome if I could get like, optional Strike Witches leg things so I could switch parts xPP But I can see her cosplaying a lot so in a way she'd be a character doll but, in a way not because she'd just be cosplaying :P

Suigintou from Rozen Maiden
Mashiro Mito from Tayutama: Kiss on my Deity (but then, this one is an official Volks Limited Dollfie Dream... so not sure if she counts... still, she's based on an anime character!)

I also have plans for several more. My current projects include making dolls of the Absolute Angels from Kyoushiro to Towa no Sora (Shattered Angels) and dolls of the main characters from Slayers (my favorite anime ever!) ^-^ I personally really like characer dolls, although I like non-character ones as well...

 

I'd rather dress my OC-dolls up as fandom characters, honestly, but if I ever win the lottery ----Lieutenant Commander Data. That is all.

The only one that I'd really like to put together is a Prince Nuada from Hellboy II. I know there was a set of Minimee heads done. Now if I could only get my hands on one...

 

The challenge will be finding just the right sculpt. If I squint I can see my Migi Ryu with those dreamy yellow eyes, but my boyfriend refused to accept anything less than a Brent Spiner MNM... hence the lottery... and if you give a boy a dolly he's going to want a Lore to go with it...

I don't own character dolls for the sole purpose that my fandoms eventually subside. I like to buy my dolls with the full intention that I will definitely keep them for years ahead; if I were to buy a doll based on a passing (even if long-lasting) fancy, I'd be unsatisfied with myself

 

Recently, veeeery recently, I've been tempted to make character dolls. I had some of my dollies cosplaying already for some shoots, but never really considered getting a proper character doll until I ran out of dolls I wanted to buy based on sculpt alone. *sweat* I was planning, searching, saving for a doll of Alfred/America of Hetalia... and then I realised that I can't absorb any more SDs into my collection at the moment. OTL

Right now, I'm looking for a tiny to portray a certain character, to go with this other tiny who somehow wormed his way into my collection. I'm still undecided if they going to be full-on character dolls, or merely similar in style with a more flexible backstory. Somehow, I suspect it might be the latter, if only to protect them from my very possible loss of interest in the series...

 

I really like what Kim said about dolls being 3-dimensional fan art. That's exactly how I view the two dolls I'm planning to do as characters. My first Dollfie Dream, which I'll probably get mid-year, is going to be based on a character from High School Of The Dead---Saya Takagi. She's a very tsundere character and always mad, so I'm going to have fun doing the doll's faceup (or having it done) to give some serious eyebrows! The other character I've always wanted to do is Misa Amane from Death Note, because I love her goofy charm, she's easy to make, and I could have her wear all kinds of goth/lolita wear.

I have other dolls and characters in mind, but they're my own. The first two will be Dollfie Dreams because they are so anime looking. The others might not be, which is why I'm also now getting into resin.

 

I was maybe thinking about making a doll of Karkat Vantas from the webcomic Homestuck. Other then plans, no, not at all lol.
