1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I don't have any plans or desire to make a character doll. :< Cosplays are neat and all but a doll based on someone else's characters seems...limiting i guess? I don't really like them, but to each their own. They can look very nice though!

    2. I agree with Sam-I-Am - I have no desire to make a perma-cosplay/character doll of a character I don't own. I might make a wig and dress up the doll temporarily for a photoshoot as a tribute to another OC (original character), but not of an anime/manga/movie/what-have-you character. To me, that's really uncomfortable territory. Like wearing someone else's underwear? I don't own this character - I didn't create them. They're someone else's. To me, that's too much.

That doesn't mean I can't admire people's abilities to pull off cosplays! Some of them are fantastic. It's just not for me.

    3. I don't see myself becoming interested in owning and maintaining a character doll. HOWeVer. I have learned to never say NEveR.

    4. I have a doll based upon a character from Requiem Vampire Knight wich is a comic book from a french drawer : Olivier Ledroit. The character she represents is Lady Claudia Demona.

      See the original design :[IMG]

And my version of her : [IMG]

    5. My wife and I were discussing how much Doll-Love's "Luck" looks like Alucard from the Castlevania video game series, and coveting him for it. She actually has the doll, but it's the full set from the site that looks like Alucard so we may end up getting another. He's awfully cute!

I'd be more interested in character dolls if the outfits were readily available. But I'm no seamstress so I probably wouldn't bother. I prefer my "original character" character dolls.

    6. I'm all for character dolls, but I just plan on having my dolls cosplay instead. You are still creating something original, even if the design is of someone else's, when you put work into a doll to make it look how you want.

    7. While I don't personally have any desire to just own a doll based off a character....as an artist, I would love to sculpt certain character's faces. I love being able to re-create (to the best of my ability ^_^) the expressions and subtle facial nuances of characters I love.

    8. I have almost an equal number of OC dolls and 'character dolls. :) Character doll-wise, I have L, (who is currently 'cosplaying' as Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji), Ciel, (also from Kuroshitsuji), Griffith and Guts from Berserk and Ritsuka from Loveless.

I always find it fascinating that so many people think that having a character doll is somehow less of a creative venture/investment than an OC doll. To me, it has never been less creatively challenging, but creatively different. It takes a different type of creativity to embody someone else's non-doll character in doll form. It can be extremely rewarding, (and a ton of fun!), and I love it just as much as working on my OC dolls.

Quite frankly, as a writer, I also find it refreshing to let go of the characters and worlds in my head and play in someone else's for a while, (it gives my brain time to recharge :) ).

    9. I don't have any character-based dolls, and I don't plan to. Although soon I hope on getting a Alucard MNM head, he's not going to be based on the actual videogame character; he'll just be an OC.

I'm not really into the whole cosplay scene, but to each their own. I just feel it's not my thing to waste energy/time on something someone else created.

    10. I've voted yes but in fact my dolls don't impersonate character in toto, meaning that they're based mostly on their emotional character and features than on the looking or clothing.

    11. I'm not really interested in having a doll based off a character. I have waaaay to many ideas of my own for that. Not saying it's wrong if a person doesn't, but it's just not my cup of tea. Now, will I have my girl or boy cosplay with me when I go to conventions or what ever? Sure, yeah, why not, but that will in no way, shape, or form be their permanent character.

    12. My Minifee Sheldon is based off Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. I love the character of Sheldon and he's helped me accept parts of my personality that I didn't before, and I like just having a representation of him with me. It also helped that when shopping for him, I knew exactly what I wanted and didn't get distracted, as it's very easy to do when you're new to the hobby.

All my other planned dolls are OC's.

    13. I don't have any character dolls or any serious plans for any. There are a couple I would love to put together, but they would all be very difficult to make if I was to do them any justice. I just don't have the modding skills to make them work, sadly.

I think I'd also have a bit of difficulty figuring out how they would fit in with the rest of my crew. All of my dolls' characters exist within one setting and I would think it would be more difficult to work in an outside character.

So I guess I don't say no to character dolls because I would find it "limiting" so much as I would find it more difficult to pull off. XD

    14. i'm trying to make an Natsu Dragneel out of Fairy Tail series at the moment^^

    15. Most of my dolls are characters created by my own, but I also has two dolls representing characters impressed me so much in my life. These two are Raoul Am from Ai no Kusabi novel and anime and Don Simon Ysidro from Barbara Hambly's vampire novels about James Asher. Also I am planning to settle Hugue de Watteau from Trinity Blood in my house.

    16. I'm going to make Peter Pan out of a Resinsoul Song :aheartbea

    17. I have no desire to create a character doll. My house is wall to wall with anime figures and merchandise... I want my resin boys to be completely unique individuals, to develop their look and personality through trial and error over time.

Besides, I doubt I would ever be able to truly create a replica of my favourite character and do it justice. I'm just not that creative :sweat

    18. I don't have any plan for a character doll but I'm open to it. If I like the doll and the character, then sure! I'll consider getting it =)

    19. 5 of my Dolls are based on manga characters.

Fanny as Fanny from Fahr Sindrams Losing Neverland
Kuzon as Kurokichi and Ray as Raiya from Monokuro Kitan by Rinka Kusu
Epiphanus as Juki from Scuro (also done by Rinka Kusu)
And Pierre as Baroque from Violinist of Hameln Shchel by Michiaki Watanabe

    20. I have both Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter as grown-ups.
