1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

  1. Yes! I have one or more character doll/s!

  2. No, but I have serious plans to someday!

  3. No, and I have no plans or desire to.

    1. I have plans to get an "Ash Lynx" from "Banana Fish" doll someday. He's not too limited clothing-wise, as he changes clothes quite a lot, and I love his character *fangirl*

    2. Huh...I voted in the poll but didn't post my answer.

I have no plans or desire to own a "character doll." I have so many OCs that I see no point in spending money on a shell for a character that isn't really mine.

    3. It's funny to go back to old posts and compare what you thought would be with how things really turned out. XD

I have ended up with two character dolls, one custom and one licensed. My first is a custom of a webcomic character, Agatha Heterodyne from Girl Genius. Interesting that I didn't mention her in that old post, because I definitely was pondering her at the time!

The licensed one is kind of funny. I mentioned wanting Fate T. Harlaown but ended up with Takamachi Nanoha. The humor is that Fate and Nanoha not only come from the same license but share the same head mold. XD I'd still like Fate someday I think, but for now Nanoha will definitely do.

As for the future, I still covet the idea of a Dollfie Dream Hatsune Miku, and would also spring for a DD Akemi Homura in a heartbeat. I do also like Saber Alter, but she most likely wouldn't keep her "official" identity--or would end up a rather strange variation.

    4. I covet a hatsune miku DD, too!
Only that I'd want her as a mdd. (I'm eyeing cirno for that purpose. Using a licensed character for another character...well..) Or a mini-sized bluefairy...
I'd really love a ws mdd for this purpose, specifically Al azif, since volks doesn't sell ws mdd blanks... but she's too hard to get!

If you make a DD Akemi Homura, I'd love to see her.

    5. I have a bunch of dolls from Neil Gaiman's Sandman:

      - Dream
      - Death
      - Destruction
      - Delirium
      - Desire (it needs its faceup still, might do that at Doll North in May. :) )

I keep looking for a sculpt that I feel would work for Destiny, and will eventually make Despair myself. The rest of my dolls are original characters.

    6. All my dolls are OCs, however I do like looking at character dolls even if they aren't mine. I've seen quite a few Sherlock Holmes, some Lord of the Rings, lots of Harry Potter, a few Star Trek and a Black Jack. If I had all the money in the world I'd probably make some dolls based on characters, but for now I'll stick to OCs.

    7. I have a Severus Snape doll. He still needs his full attire but I need the funds first. I also plan for a Harry Potter doll as well. I haven't chosen a sculpt for him yet, but .Snape has an Alan Rickman mnm head on a soon body.

    8. I'd love to have an OC doll based on a manga character! (especially Kaori Yuki's Angel Sanctuary and Cain)

    9. Well, my comment is going to be in left field, but I'll do it anyway. I have been a huge Star Trek fan forever, and I bought a Soom Sabik Elf to modify into a Spock. I'm looking at tutorials because the end of the nose needs to be rounder and the eyes more open before I start the faceup (I haven't done any of this stuff before). I am learning to sew so eventually I'll have a uniform and maybe some other clothes for him. He's such a big boy there aren't very many clothing options readily available.

    10. Yes, I started with character figures as my gateway to BJDs. I think that once I get some faceup skills I might try making original characters though.

    11. Heh, yeah. Always interesting to look at thens v. nows.

I've got one non-character doll, two character dolls, a floating head who sometimes is and sometimes isn't... depending on what I need out of a head, I guess. And I'm saving for a doll to represent a character I roleplay as who's an original character but from an established universe. So I'm just all over the spectrum.

      =^__^=

    12. I said 'no', but I do have my mini 'Hellboy' - who is clearly based off the comic/movie character. I didn't even know Hellboy before I bought the doll, though, so I certainly didn't get him because of the reference.
5StarDoll has some dolls that have the names of movie characters, but I don't really see their "Tumnus" as being based on the Narnia faun at all...

    13. Yes, I have a doll based off the Master Chief from Halo, whom by the time I'm done will have 1/3 sized MJOLNIR armor.

    14. I don't think there's a character that I could commit to! lol

    15. Yep, I have two character dolls - the main couple from my favorite manga. To be honest, I wanted a Ren doll from day one, so when I finally found a good sculpt I was thrilled. When I brought him home, he seemed lonely, so Kyoko came home too.
My one other (current) doll is an OC, and I need to find her match - I like couples. I also have a Zuzu delf Lio on the way, who will be my mascot.
I like seeing both kinds of dolls - OCs because they are very different and from their creators' minds, and character dolls in seeing someone else's interpretation of a character!

    16. Yes, I make character dolls.

    17. My Mini Dollfie Dream is Rika from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni :3

    18. I used to have a Jareth, which I always wanted, but he ended up being pretty much ignored because he did not fit with all of my OC dolls. So I sold him. The closest I have to a character doll now is my Shiwoo, Kairi, who is very loosely based off of my favorite character in my favorite manga, Peach Girl.

    19. I have plans to do Harry Potter,Supernatural, and Hunter x Hunter characters. The list grows daily which characters I want to buy dolls and turn them into o.o Mostly Draco,Harry,Dean, and Hisoka dolls...Hisoka will be first lol

    20. Hee! :3
On that note, I'm planning to slowly build up a small cast of Count Cain characters. I have Jezabel already, getting Cassian (in Cassandra's body) next, and then Cain. :)

And, to answer the thread... Yes, I like character dolls. I never thought I'd spend this much money on characters that aren't mine... But since I'm not specifically shelling existing characters when I buy dolls, so much as creating new ones, I'm kind of okay with it. I don't have OC obligations to fill, since most my OC's would require heavy modding. So no worries shelling the characters of others.... The series I'm buying dolls for means a lot to me.
